A visible budget cut

One of the budget items cut was weed control. The effects of this cut are now clearly visible along some of the main roads around Franklin.

Since Franklin voters have decided not to pull a few dollars out of their pocket to maintain services, maybe they will be to pull out their individual weed control implement and attack the portion in front of their property. Then there will need to be a "weed day" to attack the portions of the roads along the public spaces.

  1. If the town's weed-control strategy typically involves herbicides, then an unintended consequence of these weeds is less pollution in the Charles.

  2. Yes, that would be a good benefit Michelle.

Actually in the case of where the photo was taken (along King St by Spruce Pond) the pond drains into the area where the Charles River Watershed Assoc did the study and developed plans for reducing the phosphor run off in that which feeds to Mine Brook and then into the Charles.
