Matt Nakoa, March 9, 8:00 PM at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse

Matt Nakoa
March 9
8:00 PM  -  $20

An award-winning songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, Matt makes his home on the highways and concert stages of America and appears regularly with folk music icon Tom Rush. The Boston Globe says of Nakoa, "Between his piano chops and heartfelt originals on guitar, he drops jaws."

Born on a small goat farm in New York State, Nakoa trained to be a concert pianist before accepting a scholarship to Berklee College of Music as a vocalist. He developed his dramatic songwriting style with his college art-rock band, The Fens, and when the band dissolved, he landed in NYC. It was in Manhattanʼs all-night piano bars that Matt developed an uncanny ability to command the attention of any audience.

2012 and 2014 saw the release of his first solo albums, garnering multiple songwriting awards, including a win at Kerrville Folk Festivalʼs new folk competition.  Below is Matt's description of his latest CD "Antique Dances"

"Long before I ever sang songs, I wrote piano music. Antique Dances is a special selection of original works that I dusted off and polished up during my COVID lockdown retreat. They have an old-world sound and are based on old-world dance forms. Sometimes, when modern life feels too fast and loud, it is good to escape to distant times and places."

The Nields
February 10
8:00 PM - $25

Circle of Days is the twenty-first album by the folk-rock group, The Nields. That is remarkable in itself. How many other bands have been together for so long producing new material on a regular basis? What is most remarkable is that this album may be its best work yet. The versatile musicians on this album explore a variety of genres, from Appalachian folk ballad to gospel to some of the most rocking songs since the earliest incarnations of the band. The production beautifully balances each sister's vocals, bringing out the best in their individual vocal styles and then bringing them together in their exquisite harmonies.

and special guest Grace Morrison
December 2, at 8:00 PM $25

Award winning performer Ellis Paul returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin on Saturday, December 2nd accompanied by Radoslav Lorković on keys. He doesn't just write songs; he's a guitar-carrying reporter who covers the human condition and details the hopes, loves, losses of those he observes, turning their stories into luminous pieces of music that get under your skin and into your bloodstream. And much like the artists who have influenced him, everyone from Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon to the singer-songwriter who is undoubtedly his greatest inspiration, Woody Guthrie, Paul weaves deeply personal experiences with social issues and renders them as provocative works that are as timely as they are timeless. His new album "55" touches on the necessity of gratitude in a difficult era of the pandemic and divided political stances.  https://www.ellispaul.com/

Special guest Grace Morrison will open the show. Born and raised on the shores of Cape Cod, Grace's unique brand of "saltwater country" has established her as a confident, refreshing voice in country-pop. With performances at Nashville's Bluebird Café and co-writes with multi-Grammy winner Lori McKenna under her belt, Grace made a name for herself in 2022 at songwriter festivals from Massachusetts to Montana. https://www.gracemorrison.com/

Seth Glier

November 18, 8:00 PM  -> $20

Seth Glier returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse on Saturday, November 18th. He is a seasoned troubadour, a singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who averages over 250 live performances annually.  He's shared the stage with artists as diverse as James Taylor, Ani DiFranco, Edwin McCain, Martin Sexton, Emmylou Harris and Ryan Adams, and has quickly become known for his passionate live sets and powerful command of both piano and guitar.

His new album "Everything" is a collection of eight songs inviting us to imagine a future in which humans and the planet are re-aligned into mutual restoration. The album is an acknowledgement of the sacred connections that exist between all living things and is an active questioning of what might be possible collectively. Everything is a reminder that the future is something we always have an influence over.

"Grammy-nominated musician Seth Glier continues to gain momentum" – Paste Magazine

"Singer with an exquisite tenor echoes Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel." – USA TODAY
