Franklin PMC Kids Ride shifts gears to virtual ride

"After initial plans to wheel back to an in-person event, the 15th annual PMC Franklin Kids Ride has backpedaled to being a fully virtual undertaking due to concerns about the latest COVID-19 surge.

"Sadly, due to delta (variant) and the increase in cases, PMC corporate decided to make all rides virtual and ride re-imagined," said one of the Franklin ride's organizers, Nancy Brogan, via email on Monday. "We want to keep them safe and healthy."

This event will still go off on the same day, just in a different direction."

FISH Of Franklin Is Resuming Services!

Good News Franklin! 

The Steering Committee and volunteers of FISH of Franklin are pleased to announce that, after more than a year of suspended services due to COVID-19, our volunteer service of providing rides to medical appointments for Franklin residents will begin again in May.

There will be some new requirements in order to keep our volunteers and clients safe:

• all clients must be fully vaccinated and finished with the two-week waiting period following vaccination in order to receive a ride
• all drivers will also need to be fully vaccinated and finished with the two-week waiting period
• drivers and clients will be required to wear masks
• clients must be able to walk and to enter and exit vehicles and doctors' offices without assistance

Any Franklin resident who wishes to access this service should call the FISH line to request a ride, and leave a message with name, phone number, date and time of the appointment, and location of the appointment. The client will receive a call back from a volunteer. FISH is not an emergency service, and anyone with a medical emergency should dial 911.

FISH of Franklin is a service provided by volunteers age 21 or over, and more are always welcome! Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Chris at 508-553-3023.

Carnival setting up for the 4th of July

The 4th of July is rapidly approaching but the carnival rides have already appeared on the Town Common. Some old favorites will be there for your enjoyment on the holiday weekend.

PMC - Nutting quoted

Franklin Town Administrator Jeff Nutting was amongst the thousands who participated in the PMC Challenge this year. Jeff rode as part of the Phils Phriends Team. He finished in Wellesley and was part of the Team NECN recap of the event. You can view the video here

PMC - Franklin Water Stop

The Pan Mass Challenge had a water stop this morning at the Remington/Jefferson School on Washington St. It was quite a colorful and festive affair. One rider after pulling over to catch her breath, asked what town she was in. When my wife and I answered, Franklin. She responded; "Oh Franklin, yes, you're a great water stop!"

PanMass Challenge rides through on Saturday

Be aware that along the following routes and approximate times, the PanMass Challenge will ride through Franklin.

• Between 7:10 and 10:10 a.m., riders will pass through North Street in Bellingham and continue toward Prospect Street in Franklin.

• Between 7:20 and 10:45 a.m., riders will pass through Prospect Street in Franklin and continue toward Otis Street in Wrentham.
