Clothesline Art Cash and Carry Fundraiser and "A Berry Fine Art Show"

Among the many activities today at the Strawberry Festival is a Clothesline Art Cash and Carry Fundraiser. This is a fund raising effort for the Franklin Art Association.

The Franklin Art Association will also open its Annual Spring/Summer Fine Art Exhibition and Sale, "A Berry Fine Art Show," at the Rockland Trust Annex, 44 Main Street, Franklin, Massachusetts (between Rockland Trust at 58 Main Street and FSPA at 38 Main Street).

The show, which is free and open to the public, will kick off on Friday from 4-8 PM, coinciding with Franklin Downtown Partnership's Strawberry Stroll.

The Fine Art Exhibition and Sale includes works in oil, acrylic, water media, photography, pastel, charcoal, and mixed media. In addition to the exhibited works, small works and unframed art will be available for purchase.

Saturday hours are 11 AM – 7 PM with a wine reception from 4- 6 PM capped off with an awards presentation for the juried exhibit. In addition to first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons awarded, there will be a Best of Show award and attendees may vote for a "People's Choice" award.

Sunday hours are 12 Noon - 4 PM with a Raffle and People's Choice award presentation at 3 PM.

Franklin PMC (Pan Mass Challenge) Kids Ride
"The Franklin PMC (Pan Mass Challenge) Kids Ride will be held from 8 a.m. to noon June 16, one of more than 35 PMC Kids Rides throughout the New England area. 
The Franklin PMC Kids Ride will start and finish at the Jefferson School, 628 Washington St. 
Kids can select from a 3, 6 or 10-mile course. They will also enjoy an after-ride celebration with music, games, food and more. Younger participants, not yet on two wheels, can participate in the Tikes and Trikes course in a contained area at the school. This area has several stations and activities for the little ones, including a car wash, gas station, snack stand, craft table, face painting and more. 
There is a $10 registration fee and a $30 fundraising minimum for all riders. Riders can ride solo, start a team or join a team."

Franklin Art Association: "Artfully Autumn" Fall Show and Reception

The Franklin Art Association is proud to present “Artfully Autumn,” a fine art painting and photography exhibit on display through October 27, 2018 at the Norfolk Library, 139 Main St. Norfolk, during library hours.

A cheese and cider reception will be held on Saturday, October 27, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Admission is free.

The FAA’s Fall Show includes works in oil, acrylic, water media, photography, pastel, and mixed media. In addition to the exhibited works, small works and unframed art will be available for purchase.

The exhibit is juried and there will be first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons awarded in each category. In addition, there will be a Best of Show award and attendees may vote for a “People’s Choice” award.

Reminder: Franklin Art Association’s Annual Spring Art Show and Sale 4/21/18 - 4/22/18

The Franklin Art Association will hold its Annual Spring Show and Sale "Art from the Heart" on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 1 PM to 8 PM and on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 12 noon to 4 PM at THE BLACK BOX, 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin.

A reception held on Saturday, from 4 PM to 7 PM will include entertainment by the Padula Brothers Jazz Band.

The FAA's Annual Spring Show and Sale includes works in oil, acrylic, water media, photography, pastel, charcoal, mixed media, calligraphy and drawing. In addition to the exhibited works, small works and unframed art will be available for purchase.

Franklin Artist to be featured at Mansfield Gallery - Apr 14 to May 12

Franklin resident, Sue Pratt Sheridan will be the featured artist in a solo exhibition from April 14 until May 12 at the Next Door Gallery at Happy Hollow Frame Shop, 250 North Main Street in Mansfield.

The opening reception, free and open to the public, will take place on Saturday, April 14th, 2018 from 7 - 9 PM. For more information, call 508-339-1234 or visit the gallery’s Facebook page at The Happy Hollow Frame Shop and Next Door Gallery.

For over 25 years, Pratt Sheridan has painted in a variety of media; the show will include landscapes, seascapes, city scenes and figures. Much of her work depicts the natural beauty of New England as well as scenes from her paintings excursions in Europe.

Pratt Sheridan’s award-winning work has been featured in many local and regional shows and galleries. She holds a Signature Artist designation from the Rhode Island Watercolor Society.

In addition to her painting, Pratt Sheridan has been an active member in many area arts organizations. She has also been a strong arts advocate with service on the Franklin Cultural District Steering Committee and the Franklin Cultural Council.

Regarding this art show Pratt Sheridan states “I’m honored to be having a solo show of my work at this fine gallery. I hope people will take a break from their everyday routines, come on down to the gallery, and enjoy some beautiful views!”

The Franklin Art Association welcomes you to view their fall member exhibition titled "November Colors 2016 Art Exhibit". In the News: Dean Dash 5K, St Vincent DePaul collection, Art Assoc spring show

"Dean College will host a 5K race this weekend, an event organizers say is growing each year. 
Race organizers are hoping this year's Dean Dash - the third annual such event - will draw more than 200 participants. The race is scheduled to start at noon on Saturday, April 23 at Dean Hall. 
Carlos Aguilera, college recreation coordinator, said the concept came out of a group discussion of campus traditions. 
"We were talking about traditions and what could get the students interested," he said. "The idea of a race came up, and 5Ks are very popular these days."

"The St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Mary’s Parish, 1 Church Square, will hold its monthly collection May 7-8. 
Items may be left in the boxes at the doors of the church at any time. The SVDP food pantry is able to pack four to five bags of food and offer them to senior citizens, the unemployed, low-income families, people who are unable to work, families with three generations living in the home, single mothers who are working two jobs and families with many children."

Franklin Art Association - Spring Art Show - Apr 30, May 1


On Saturday, April 30th, the Franklin Art Association will hold an opening reception and awards ceremony at THE BLACK BOX, 15 West Central Street, Franklin.  The show will feature an exhibit and sale of works of art by member artists, a "clothesline cash and carry" art sale, small works table and bin sales of original work and prints.  Live music will be provided by the Franklin High School Jazz Band.  Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

The show opens on Saturday, April 30th, 12 pm - 8 pm, and continues through Sunday, May 1st, 12 pm - 3 pm.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to showcase our members' artwork at this terrific new venue at THE BLACK BOX," says Sue Sheridan, association president.

More than 100 pieces of art and photography by member artists will be featured.  All works will be for sale and reasonably priced.

The Franklin Art Association is a non-profit organization and has been continuously providing art education programs in Franklin for more than 40 years.  Monthly meetings, art exhibits and painting workshops provide the opportunity for artists and photographers at every skill level to meet and learn from one another in a supportive environment.  Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at the Franklin Senior Center, which feature art demonstrations by established regional and national artists.

"The Franklin High School softball team will hold a recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon April 16 at the Franklin Elks Lodge, 1077 Pond St. 
The team will collect bottles, cans and all types of electronic items for a nominal fee between $5 and $20. 
All proceeds benefit the FHS Girls Softball Team."

"The Blackstone Valley Curling Club will hold a Learn to Curl event from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 21 at the Blackstone Valley IcePlex, 121 Plain St. 
Certified curling instructors will be on hand to teach the basics. The clinic will cost $40 per person and is for ages 18 and older. 
Those planning on trying out curling at the Learn to Curl should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, such as a jogging suit, and rubber-soled shoes. The club will provide all other equipment needed to participate. 
The Blackstone Valley Curling Club’s league season will begin in October, and space is limited.
