Franklin ArtWALK Celebration 'Escape to the Arts' - June 11-13, 2021

Dear Cultural District Partners,

Thank you very much for your thoughts and ideas at our meeting Thursday night. The Franklin Cultural District Committee is excited about the Franklin ArtWALK Celebration, Escape to the Arts which will take place during the weekend of June 11th - 13th.

In order for this event to be a success we will need lots of our partners to get actively involved in the planning process.

Below are the four working groups that will be working together on this event. Each group will be responsible for a part of this event.

Art Displays & Business Coordination Group   FCDC Member - Amy Adams  Hopefully many of the Franklin Art Association members will work

alongside LIsa Piana to match the artists with the local businesses.

Entertainment and Performance Group  FCDC Members Jamie Barrett, Pandora Carlucci, Jamie Barrett Hopefully all of the grant recipients associated with the

seven different performing groups will work with this group to determine the needs and performance locations for each of the performing ensembles.

Kickoff Reception Group FCDC Member Roberta Trahan This group will work with Raye Lynn Mercer and TBB to plan this kickoff reception which will take place at TBB.

Event Marketing Group FCDC Members John LoPresti, Evan Chelman This group will work with FCD partners to market the June 11th - 13th Franklin ArtWALK Celebration.

It is our hope that many different Cultural District Partners will join one of these working groups.

Cultural District planning session for ArtWALK - Mar 25, 7:00 PM

The Franklin Cultural District Committee has begun planning for the upcoming ArtWALK Celebration which will be held on the weekend of June 11th - 13th. This Thursday, March 25th at 7:00 p.m. the committee is inviting all of our Cultural District Partners to join us in our first collaborative planning meeting. The meeting will be held via the zoom platform. Below you will find the  zoom link for this meeting.

Franklin Cultural District ArtWALK/Celebration Planning Meeting - Mar 25

Dear Cultural District Partners,

We hope you are doing well and that you have been able to enjoy some of this sunny weather.

 The Franklin Cultural District Committee was pleased to learn that we had been awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant.

As a result we were able to fund the requests of eight of our Cultural District partners. These grants will help to support exhibits, events, and performances during the ArtWALK/Celebration which will take place during the weekend of June 11th.

As we begin the planning for this event we are inviting all partners to our first planning meeting. This meeting which will be held virtually on the Zoom platform, will be on Thursday, March 25 at 7:00 PM. We hope that you will all join us for this meeting.

Franklin Cultural District ArtWALK/Celebration Planning Meeting - Mar 25

 

ArtWalk in Planning Stages, if businesses are interested please respond by Feb 19

Dear Franklin Cultural District Partners,

The mission of the Franklin Cultural District is to foster and encourage culture and the arts in our community.

To support this mission the Franklin Cultural District Committee (FCDC)  and the Franklin Art Association (FAA)  are working collaboratively to plan an ArtWalk event through the Franklin Cultural District. These groups are excited to feature several local Franklin artists and to support our local businesses.

The hope is that by offering this visual art display we will encourage more foot traffic through the Franklin Cultural District and the downtown area.

At this point in time the project is in the planning stages. We will have more details to share when we hear about the plan of our Cultural District Partners.

Currently the FCDC and the FAA are looking for:

• Merchants/business owners who would be willing to have artwork displayed in their storefronts. The FCDC and the FAA will connect merchants with the artists
• Although most of the artwork will be hung in the storefront windows, individual businesses could also have artwork inside their establishments if agreed upon with an artist
• The artwork would be displayed by June 11th and would remain in store windows for the remainder of June and if possible during July as well
• Any materials needed to have the artwork displayed will be taken care of by the FCDC
