Building Equitable Neighborhoods for Franklin (BEN 4 Franklin) is proud to endorse six candidates for Franklin Town Council

Building Equitable Neighborhoods for Franklin (BEN 4 Franklin) is proud to endorse six candidates for Franklin Town Council: Thomas Mercer, Maxwell Morrongiello, Patrick Sheridan, Ken Ojukwu, Michael LeBlanc, and Glenn Jones.

In early October, BEN 4 Franklin shared a questionnaire with all Town Council candidates to learn more about their views on housing, neighborhood planning, and Franklin’s long-term growth. Candidates were informed that their answers would be published publicly and that BEN may choose to endorse those whose values align with the group’s mission.

BEN is endorsing all six candidates who responded to the questionnaire, each of whom expressed a thoughtful commitment to keeping Franklin an affordable, welcoming, and financially healthy place to live.

“We’re encouraged to see these candidates engaging seriously with the challenges facing Franklin - from rising housing costs, to operating budget pressure, to the need for smart, balanced development,” said Mark Minnichelli, Co-Chair of BEN 4 Franklin. “These six candidates share our vision of a vibrant, welcoming, and financially-strong Franklin.”
The full questionnaire and candidate responses are posted at ben4franklin.org/2025-election. The survey asked candidates about topics such as expanding housing choices, supporting small businesses downtown, and implementing the 2025 Franklin Master Plan.

Building Equitable Neighborhoods for Franklin is a volunteer community group that envisions a Franklin where everyone can find a home and feel connected to their neighborhood. Guided by the Franklin for All report, BEN advocates for housing options that fit every stage of life, walkable neighborhoods, and thoughtful growth that protects the town’s character while strengthening its finances.

Residents can learn more about BEN’s work and sign up for updates at ben4franklin.org.

Frank Presents: Joe McGann, Ken Ojukwu (video)

Frank Falvey interviews two Town Council candidates; Joe McGann and Ken Ojukwu.

Voices of Franklin: "elect a Council that will lead Franklin toward a more stable and prosperous future"

Dear my Franklin neighbors,

As we are now a couple weeks away from our biennial election, we are, collectively and individually, faced with the task of choosing who will be taking on the serious responsibility of making decisions about the direction of our town via the Town Council and School Committee. We are fortunate to have choices in our representation on both of these bodies.

At the same time, our town faces financial instability and rising costs that threaten to further destabilize us. While cuts to spending may provide temporary relief in the form of balanced budgets, this is not a long-term solution for stability: costs will continue to rise regardless of the number of cuts made.

Therefore, I encourage everyone to take advantage of what resources are available to look into the candidates for Town Council and carefully consider what each would bring to the table for the future of our town. Watch the candidate interviews through the town's YouTube channel. Read the interviews that have been published in the Observer. Reach out to the candidates directly – all candidate phone numbers and emails are public, and though I cannot speak for anyone but myself, I expect most would be eager to speak with voters.

As you investigate the candidates, I urge you to pay careful attention to what each candidate offers in the form of ideas that could lead Franklin to a more stable future. For me, I am encouraged by the candidates that openly share ideas and opportunities for finding new revenue. I am concerned by candidates that focus primarily on what they stand against but offer no ideas for financial stability other than more cuts to increasingly necessary services. I feel hopeful about candidates who demonstrate that they understand the challenges our town and home faces and a commitment to addressing these challenges head on. I am troubled by candidates that make statements that reveal a fundamental lack of understanding about the work that has already been done to address our financial issues, or worse, blatant falsehoods that seem intended to elicit fear.

Thank you for reading my plea and I trust that we can elect a Council that will lead Franklin toward a more stable and prosperous future. For my part, other than casting my own votes, I hope to have the privilege of providing thoughtful and committed service to Franklin if I am elected to the School Committee. If you'd like to connect, please drop me a line at schools@reishansen.com.

Sincerely and respectfully,
(Henry) Reis Hansen

Franklin TV: Citizen Steve & Franklin Matters Radio

The Candidates Speak – All of Them (almost)

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 10/19/2025

This year we have a generous slate of candidates (fifteen, a record number) for Town Council and other key offices. Franklin folks are stepping up. There’ll be lots of names to check off (carefully) on your ballot, come November 4th.

As Franklin’s own self-styled Community Information Director (volunteer), Steve Sherlock has been unusually busy this season. The tall challenge? Make sure every candidate that wished to be heard – is heard. At this point Steve’s daunting task has now been accomplished.
Now it’s time for you to do your part –

We all love binge watching our fave TeeVee shows. In fact, Hollywood streamers were taken aback by just how long a TeeVee audience would actually stay engaged. Turns out that in a world of distractions we actually do have attention ‘spans’. They were not prepared to feed such high, sustained program consumption.

Binge? Me?

Guilty as charged. No doubt, you do as well. (It’s okay, binge away.) This is your
chance to ‘binge’ watch/listen to each (or even every) candidate’s comments.

Steve has prepared this link as your on ramp:

You’ll find 23 candidate videos – all in one E–Z–2 navigate playlist. Settle in with that big bowl-o-popcorn – and become informed.

You can also check out Town Hall TV. The candidates schedule is the last page of the programing guide*.

Thanks, Steve.

And – as always –

Thank you for watching.
Thank you for listening to wfpr●fm.
And staying informed at Franklin●news.

*also available as a 1 page DPF
