The meeting reviewed the data updates requested in the prior meeting. The bulk of the meeting previewed the update to be provided to the full School Committee as drafted by Chair Charles for  the regularly scheduled full School Committee meeting June 14, 2022. 

The update was discussed but not shared with the public participants as it was still an early draft. Feedback was taken by the Chair, who will continue to fine tune the draft with Central Office members. The presentation doc may not be released prior to the meeting.

Senator Rausch Launches Local Small Business Advisory Council

SENATOR RAUSCH ANNOUNCES CREATION OF 

SMALL BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL 

Council is comprised of local business owners to inform economic recovery policies on Beacon Hill 

 

This morning (3/25/22), Senator Rausch hosted the inaugural meeting of her Small Business Advisory Council, consisting of eleven small business from across the Norfolk, Bristol, and Middlesex District. Spurred by the unique challenges small businesses face during the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council's mission is to create a consistent dialogue about issues facing small businesses from across the district to inform economic policy on Beacon Hill.  

 

The Massachusetts legislative session ends at the end of July, and the Senate will be debating the fiscal year 2023 budget this May. The four remaining months of the legislative session are a critical period to pass bills and allocate funding for Massachusetts communities and local projects across the state. 

 

"Small businesses have always been the backbones of our communities," said Senator Becca Rausch (D-Needham). "Our local business owners have faced countless challenges through this pandemic, but in my district, I have seen so much innovation and persistence from these local leaders. I am excited to give our communities' businesses a seat at the table to inform my work on Beacon Hill and meet the diverse needs of our local economy." 

 

The Senator's Small Business Advisory Council currently consists of the following 11 businesses: 

• 67 Degrees Brewing, Franklin 

• Althea's Beauty Depot, North Attleboro 

• Choc-Allure, Needham 

• Crosby's Coffeehouse, Wrentham 

• French Press, Needham 

• La Cantina, Franklin  

• Nutty Bird Granola, Sherborn 

• Quality Cleaners, Millis 

• Todos, Natick  

• An Unlikely Story, Plainville 

• Wesleaf, Needham 

 

Last year, the Massachusetts Legislature approved $75 million in grant funding for small businesses grants through the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation, which administered the largest state-sponsored business relief program in the nation during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Applications for MGCC grants are due by April 4, 2022.   

Senator Becca Rausch represents the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex District, comprised of Attleboro, Franklin, Millis, Natick, Needham, Norfolk, North Attleborough, Plainville, Sherborn, Wayland, Wellesley, and Wrentham. Senator Rausch serves as the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture and the Senate Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight.

Franklin Public Schools District Newsletter January 2021 Food Services District Calendar School Committee Transportation 21-22 School Calendar Feb. 11th will be a half day for Professional Development day. Last day of school is now June 21st due to the snow day on 1/7. Updated District COVID-19 Policies and Programs On January, 10th, 2022, The Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) made the decision to extend the mask mandate until February 28th, 2022. Although Franklin High School has a masking waiver for achieving over 80% positivity, all individuals in every Franklin Public School is required to mask at this time. On January 18th, 2022, the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education released a joint statement with the Department of Public Health regarding updated COVID-19 testing support and guidance. In accordance with DESE and DPH, Franklin Public Schools is updating our COVID-19 Testing Program to offer free in-home rapid antigen testing for students and staff starting the week of January 31st. Contact tracing will not be taking place for in school exposure. A part of this shift in the program, we are discontinuing the Test and Stay and contract tracing for in-school close contacts. This means that if your child is a potential contact in school, they may continue to come to school and do not have to quarantine. We request that families notify your school nurse if your student was an out of school close contact that requires isolation under the current guidelines from DPH. The organization is focused on developing and empowering students interested in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. 119 FHS DECA students qualified to compete at the State Career Development Conference in March. She will talk about her writing journey, research process, uncovering hidden history, and give a sneak peek of her 2022 thriller I Must Betray You. Students and staff who wish to attend are asked to sign up using the Google Form. From the School Committee During the January 11th School Committee meeting, Student Services provided a presentation on Special Education throughout all grade levels with supplemental data, district resources and various programs meant to support our students.
