Happy Holidays!

A Message from Lucas Giguere

We wish our Franklin Public Schools families, faculty, and greater Franklin community a happy and healthy holiday for those who observe. For many, this time of year allows us to pause and honor our connection to our community, of which we are part of many.

Over the past month, several students across the district have embraced the spirit of giving, kindness and connectivity; hosting toy and food drives to help impact families in and around town. Moments like this nurture our students as change makers and active community contributors!

We look forward to ringing in the new year with you all as we return from Winter break on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023.

- Lucas Giguere

State House Visit

Our 5th grade Oak acorns got the chance to make their mark during their tour of the State House this November. Special thanks to Senate President Karen Spilka, Senator Becca Rausch and Representative Jeff Roy for their warm welcome!

And the Award goes to...

Congratulations to Coach Igoe on receiving the 2021-2022 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Coach of the Year award! When coaching Girls Lacross, Coach Igoe sets the bar high for her student athletes and strives to support them as they grow as athletes and individuals. Panther nation is proud to have her!

Channeling Creativity: Winter Art Show and Concerts!

December was a busy month for our students enrolled in art or music programs. We held our annual district-wide Winter Art Show on December 6th that highlighted various forms of visual art our students have been working on throughout the year. Thank you to all who attended!

In addition to our Winter Art Show, we held concerts for our musically talented students at Franklin High School, Horace Mann Middle, Annie Sullivan Middle, and Remington Middle. Nurturing the arts within our youth is important! We could not do it without the support of our Art, Music, Choir and Orchestra faculty and staff as well as family and community support for creative expression!

Redistricting Analysis Update

The School Committee and District has been meeting with the Redistricting Advisory Committee and Redistricting Analysis consultant (AppGeo) to craft scenarios to propose to the community in Spring 2023 prior to final recommendations to the School Committee.

Any recommendations that may be approved by the School Committee will not go into effect during the 2022-2023 school year. The School Committee will continue to engage the public prior to reaching a final decision on any boundary adjustments, which will be addressed in the implementation plan for redistricting.

To better outline the redistricting analysis process, we have created a webpage to update the community on our efforts. Learn more via our Redistricting Analysis page.

Now Boarding: The 'Train Town Franklin' Exhibit

Beginning December 18, 2022 the Franklin Historical Museum will exhibit the first in a series of annual dioramas entitled, "Train Town Franklin"- which will feature a Historical Exact replica of the area around the train depot, circa 1932, a time when the rhythm of the daily trains set the pace for a small New England Town - and news from 'down at the depot' was the news everyone wanted to hear!

Young and old will be captivated by this miniature look at "the way we used to be". The structures in this exhibit are built to exact scale from photographs and films taken from that period. Franklin native, and former Town Council Chair, Scott Mason utilizes his historical knowledge and model building skills to bring this exhibit to life! The exhibit will run through February 5, 2023 and will be open to the public every Saturday 10am- 1pm and Sundays 1pm-4pm with the exception of holidays.

Keep up with meetings, departments & committees. The schedule and links can be found on our website calendar.
