Local movie, ‘Right There’, filmed in North Attleboro, accepted by Massachusetts Independent Film Festival

Film Production Company IM Filmworks announces that its most recent film, RIGHT THERE, has been accepted by the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival.

Producer/Director Nathan Suher says, “RIGHT THERE is a mash-up of several genres. It’s a silent film that on the surface is a light-hearted romantic comedy, but at its core it is also a portrait of unrequited love.” RIGHT THERE may lack dialogue, but it is not lacking sound. Musician/Composer Kevin Keough was brought on to write the score. “Kevin’s score really compliments the overall mood of the film; it’s beautiful, yet bittersweet”.
“It’s an honor to have my film as part of the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival. Being screened with so many other terrific movies gives me a sense of great satisfaction. Knowing that all of the hard work put into this film by our cast and crew is recognized in this important way inspires me to build upon this accomplishment and set loftier goals as a filmmaker,” says Producer/Director Nathan Suher.
RIGHT THERE will be screened at the historic Somerville Theater (55 Davis Square, Somerville, MA) on Wednesday, August 6th at 6:20pm as part of the Block 4 screening group.

Uncas Pond

Having heard of Uncas Pond here and here, I decided a needed to go exploring to find it. Sunday was humid. I needed a little extra incentive to run in the heat. I decided that since Uncas Pond was off Summer St, I'd go find it. Finding it would give me an excuse to stop for pictures (and rest as well).

The water looked inviting but it was behind a securely locked fence so I didn't venture forth.

The Franklin Rod and Gun Club is located at the end of Florence St. Access to the pond appears to be via the Club property or one of the neighboring private properties actually is available from a dirt parking lot on the left of Florence as you approach the end of the road.

Access is outlined on this photo:

My thanks to Franklin Matters reader Rich for the correction and photo!

For more information on the Franklin Rod and Gun Club, you can visit their website  http://franklinrodandgun.org/

BTW - According to their web page, they are still looking to find "Declan F". Declan won the 12 and under trophy for their recent tournament and left without getting the trophy!

Birke's advice

Sometimes, the way the message is delivered is better. "Think local. Choose organic and know your farmer."

Happy Birthday To Franklin Matters

Happy Birthday To Me, originally uploaded by .bullish.

A belated birthday wish to Franklin Matters!

How quickly a year passes! I created this site to separate the Franklin posts from the rest at Steve's 2 Cents. The first post on this site was November 9, 2007. Over 1200 posts later, it is still going.

Where?
That question you can help me answer.

What should there be more of?
What should there be less of?

This pole at the railroad bridge downtown says there are quite a few choices for yard sales today!

Solar powered?

Solar powered?

I remember hearing about these new solar powered recycle devices at one of the Town Council meetings.

Great idea. Green all over. Solar powered compaction, reduces the number of times the container would need to be emptied.

Why position this device in the shade of a tree?
Will it get enough sunlight?

Where in Franklin? Answer #50

Where in Franklin? Answer #50, originally uploaded by shersteve.

Maybe due to vacations, we did not get an answer to picture #50.

So getting back into the swing of things (after some of my own vacation), here the answer to #50 was found on Dean Ave with the blue shuttered/white clapboard building belonging to the Franklin Lumber Co.

Stay tuned for the next opportunity.

Pine Woods along trail, originally uploaded by lastonein.

Yes, after some time focused on the override, the Where in Franklin series will resume.

This entry had been provided
by Susan Speers. The location was identified by Joel D'Errico. Susan described the location as:

"It's on one of the trails on the protected open space around Franklin Woods, off Lincoln Street. Land owned by Metacomet Land Trust, which links with Conservation Commission land."

Thanks for playing!

Stay tuned for the next opportunity.

Franklin Center Commons: roof's on

I did not get around to posting this picture from our walk Saturday morning but the roof is now on the condominium building located down behind the store fronts along Main St.

King Street - sidewalk detour reasons gone

When King Street was re-done, the sidewalk took a turn to go around two stately trees.

Alas, the trees are no longer.

The sidewalk however, still makes the curve around what used to be.

Hmm, barbed wire, big tank. Is this as large as the molasses tank that created the flood in Boston?

Where do you find this tank in Franklin?

Yes, the answer to picture #47 is the Church of the Latter Day Saints on Jordan Road.
