Absolutely Fabulous Affairs - launch party!

Absolutely Fabulous Affairs brings unique and creative party planning to the area as it opens for business in Franklin

Absolutely Fabulous Affairs, a full-service event planning company, opened its doors for business in September. Their launch party will be hosted at 7:00 PM on September 29th at their Franklin, Mass. location.

Absolutely Fabulous Affairs offers everything you need for an absolutely fabulous party or event. Whether it be help with portions of the event or creating a party from the ground up, they work with clients to make visions come to life and craft a unique and memorable experience.

One of their specialties is creating displays called "interactive party stations," which are designed to engage guests and provide a unique and fun way to serve food, drinks or dessert at an event. These can include a Sweet Table, with assorted candies and confections, a Make-Your-Own Mojito Bar, a Popcorn Bar, or an Ice Cream Bar, for example. "You can create an interactive party station to add another dimension to any event and the possibilities are endless," said owner Sandi Verhaegen.

She has created parties for children, teens, and adults, bridal and baby showers, office parties, and holiday parties. A few examples include a glow party, a mad scientists party, magical fairy party, Harvard Medical School reunion luncheon, wine and beer tasting parties and a gender-reveal baby shower. "If you can dream it, I can do it," is her philosophy.

Why hire an event planner? "We give you access to our creativity. Understanding the time and cost it takes to source the bits and pieces to complete the theme, Absolutely Fabulous Affairs provides the ease, affordability and convenience to make your vision come alive," said Verhaegen.

They have a storeroom full of amazing decorations, props and party ware that will add to your event without you having to purchase them. At the end, hiring an event planner can be more cost effective than planning it on your own.

Absolutely Fabulous Affairs will also open an online shop in early November. This shop will carry everything you need to host party, from the traditional to the most trend setting party gear. The shop will be found on the company website: www.abfabaffairs.com.

Early in her career Verhaegen worked for a marketing agency in California and managed promotional events for corporations such as Cartoon Network, Levi's, and 7-Eleven. Now she enjoys creating personalized, smaller scale special occasions for people and businesses.

"I always liked to do parties for my friends and family," she recalls. "I would go all out. People would comment on my party and would ask me to do something for them."

"This is a result of my passion for creating simply amazing events," she added. "It is rooted in the philosophy that a party has the potential to deliver happiness and memories long after it's done, by creating special moments that last a lifetime."

Call Absolutely Fabulous Affairs today at 773-332-0718 or view their website at www.abfabaffairs.com or Facebook page at www.facebook.com/abfabaffairs

Franklin, MA: Memorial Day activities

Events today

Parade at 10:30 AM

The parade begins at the Historical Museum and ends at the Town Common. Last year the route was published as:
Marchers will line-up at the Historical Museum, 80 West Central St. The parade will travel on Main, School, Union, West Central and Beaver streets, ending at the war memorial on the Town Common.
Marchers will stop at Dean College, Union Street Cemetery, St. Mary's Cemetery and the war memorial.
I have not found a confirmation on line that this would be the parade route but it makes sense that it would be again this year.

Garden Party 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

On May 28th, 2011 the King St. Memorial Community Garden official opened for gardening. Join us as we celebrate the our first successful first year of gardening, and the many years to come. There will be seedlings on hand for sale to support The Friends of Franklin Community Gardens efforts to continue to expand on the garden, and other events and activities. Drop by to share a story, a piece of cake, or just the view.

Franklin Democratic Caucus Results

Franklin Dems Elect Delegates to 2012 Democratic Party Convention
Delegates to June Convention in Springfield will select candidates for U.S. Senate nomination

FRANKLIN --  Democrats in Franklin held a caucus to elect delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Party's 2012 endorsing convention in Springfield this June.
The caucus, organized by the Franklin Democratic Town Committee, elected Faye Boardman, Marianne Conboy, Daniel Edgehille, James Hill, Henry WJ Maddox, Christine Manns, Jack Manns, John May , Mary O'Neill, Al Pizzi, Denise Schultz, Rob Vacca, and Maryann Ziemba to represent Democrats in Franklin at the annual convention. In addition, Representative James Vallee and FDTC Chair Jeffrey Roy will serve as ex officio delegates.  Owen Acton, Gino D. Carlucci Jr., and Gregory Dellorco were elected as alternates.
"In 2012, the Massachusetts Democratic Party is focused on expanding and strengthening our grassroots infrastructure that helped us make historic gains in 2010," said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh. "In Franklin and across the Commonwealth, Democrats are energized and organized to beat Scott Brown and make sure President Barack Obama is elected to a second term."
"In June, these delegates will gather with Democratic leaders from across Massachusetts to endorse a candidate for US Senate and plan for a grassroots, person-to-person campaign in the fall," Walsh added.
Delegates to the 2012 Massachusetts Democratic Party endorsing convention will select candidates to compete for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. The convention will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield.
"I'm honored to serve as a delegate to the 2012 Massachusetts Democratic Party Convention," said Roy.  "As Democrats we plan to organize to talk to our friends and neighbors about standing up for middle-class families and pushing for a stronger and fairer economy."
In addition to delegates who are elected at caucus, those who meet the qualifications, may apply to be add-on delegates in the following categories: youth, minority, and disabled. Franklin Democrats Charles DiVittorio, Sean Donahue, Ronald Huntley Sr., Maxwell Morrongiello, and Deanna Thomas submitted add-on applications at the caucus.  Additional applications are available by contacting the Democratic Party at 617-939-0800. Completed applications must be returned to the Democratic State Committee by March 30, 2012.
The Franklin Democratic Town committee normally meets on the second Monday of the month in the 3rd floor training room of the Franklin Municipal Building at 355 East Central Street in Franklin. The next meeting is Monday, March 12, 2012 at 7 p.m.
For more information on the Franklin Democratic Town Committee or any of its meetings, please contact Roy at jroy@ravechroy.com or visit our website at www.franklindemocrats.com.

"the convention is really half-time"

More than 4,000 Democratic delegates, from all corners of the Bay State, will converge on the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield on June 2.
And it’s their job to decide which of the three candidates looking to run as a Democrat against U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., will appear on the ballot for the September primary.
...
“I haven’t seen this level of excitement over caucuses and Democratic issues in a long time,” said Franklin Democratic Town Committee Chairman Jeffrey Roy.
