Relay for Life Franklin Yard and craft sale

Franklin Town wide craft and yard sale. Many ways to participate. $1 to buy a map to visit the yard sales.

  • $10 to put your house on the map with description of items to be sold (you keep your sales)
  • $25 to have a spot at the JF Kennedy school (you keep your sales) I even have spots under the awning
  • Or you can donate clean items to sell with 100% going to Relay

(Please no TV’s, mattresses, large furniture, sofas or dirty items)

Update!!!!! Due to the weather on Saturday we are adding Sunday to the yard sale time. So you are getting a double yard and craft sale. We had a few people who can only do Saturday so we will be under the overhang 9 AM till we blow away. There are also multiple houses that are using their garages so they are indoors. So please come see us, get some home baked goods and hot chocolate, buy a map for 2 days of sales and enjoy! Then go back out Sunday and have more fun! I know I said I was going update by tomorrow morning but the forecast is not going to change...no matter how much I want it to.

Tour the World to Fight Cancer! - May 19

"Please join us walking around Franklin center eating and drinking our way to a cure. Have you ever noticed that the center is like Epcot in Disney.

You can get almost every type of food and drink imaginable in less than a mile. I am working with area restaurants to create small plates like they do in Epcot and a signature drink in each place.

For a $10 donation we will give you a “passport” to travel around the world. Every person who buys a passport will be entered to win a gift card from every participating restaurant....and there will be tons!

Matching outfits and groups are highly encouraged and there will be prizes for having fun with this.

You do not have to be 21 to participate at the restaurants but must be 21 to end the night at the Uptown Pub. Get your passport at Jimmy D’s between 4-6 then travel to many restaurants."

In the News: Franklin readathon at Library; Relay for Life planning underway

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"For the first time, the library will host a public reading of the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, the town’s namesake.
The reading will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and features multiple guest readers from the area, including State Rep. Jeff Roy, D-Franklin, and local inventor and engineer John Berg.
“I’m really excited about, I think it’s a really cool thing,” Berg said.
Lured by Franklin’s work with electricity and engineering, Berg said he’s delighted to help in the reading."

"For anyone looking to make a difference this year, and have a good time doing it, the Relay for Life is coming up fast.
Merging with Medway this year, Franklin’s Relay for Life will hold its annual kickoff event at Cole’s Tavern in Franklin on Jan. 30.
Volunteer Tamra Waslewski said that with so many other fundraisers available, the Relay for Life has lost some of the steam it has had in years past.
“Relay for Life used to be so important to all of the communities, and very well-attended. It was a blast,” she said. “Over the years it’s sort of dwindled down, and I think it’s because everyone’s fundraising and it’s just saturated.”

Fund raising weekend for cancer (photo essay)

As much as cancer is an insidious disease, it is heartening to see the community turn out to support fund raising efforts. There were two separate fund raisers this past weekend. (1) The Relay for Life held at Tri-County Voc Tech and (2) the PMC Kids Ride at the Jefferson School.

Friday evening, we were able to walk between the showers. My wife participated as part of the Oak St Team.

The sun was out and the weather was good for walking and biking Sunday morning. We walked over to the Jefferson School to see the start of the PMC Kids Ride.

Relay for life

Cancer touches so many folks directly or indirectly. If it is not a family member, it is a friend, neighbor or work colleague that is affected by the disease. The Relay for Life was held Friday/Saturday on the track at Tri-County Regional to raise awareness and funds for this worthy cause.

The heavy rain overnight Thursday in to Friday cleared as forecasted to bring bright blue skies and comfortable temperatures.
