Tri-County Hosts Grade 8 Open House - Nov 1

Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School will host its annual Grade 8 Open House from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, Nov. 1. Prospective students and parents/guardians are invited to tour the campus to learn more about career-focused technical education.

During the Grade 8 Open House, students and faculty will highlight 16 different career areas, the school's rigorous, comprehensive academic program, college and career planning, and vocational opportunities.

Extracurricular activities, athletics, and information about the application and online admissions process will also be discussed. Refreshments will be served and raffles will be available with an opportunity to win some great prizes.

Tri-County Student Ambassadors will be stationed throughout the school's cafeteria to tell visitors more about their career program and academic courses.

Faculty members will also be standing by to escort visitors to any points of interest. The school's vocational instructors will be inside of their shops to answer questions.

Superintendent-Director Stephen F. Dockray and school administrators will host a question and answer session on the benefits of a vocational/technical education in the auditorium.

For those who cannot attend, Tri-County offers tours every Tuesday morning beginning at 9 AM by appointment. Visit www.tri-county.us to learn more.

"The Center for Arts in Natick and Walnut Hill School for the Arts are pleased to announce a collaborative partnership to produce the first annual MetroWest Student Film Festival, featuring the work of talented students from the cities and towns of Boston MetroWest. Official public screening dates for finalists are scheduled for April 4-7, 2019. 
The MWSFF is a student film festival dedicated to showcasing the talents and creativity of the region's youth by providing an opportunity for young filmmakers and production teams to explore and create stories through motion pictures. Finalists among these student-created films will be shared with friends, families and the community at-large in TCAN’s state-of-the-art screening room. 
We envision the MWSFF as the largest student film festival of its kind in the region. 
Being part of this festival provides entrants the opportunity to:
  • Share films with the regional community
  • Screen films in an independent, state-of-the-art cinema
  • Network with a jury of judges from the industry, and other film makers in the region
  • Attend the festival premiere showcase"

1st Quarter: (F) Nick Gordon 2-yard rush, Parker Chevront XP good; (A) Justin Cote 83-yard kick return, Colby Briggs XP good.
2nd Quarter: (A) Jason Weir 1-yard rush, C. Briggs XP good; (F) P. Chevront 31-yard field goal; (A) C. Briggs 35-yard field goal.
3rd Quarter: (A) J. Weir 10-yard pass to Ethan Cameron, C. Briggs XP good; (F) N. Gordon 55-yard pass to Marcus Quintina, P. Chevront XP good.

Boys Soccer = Franklin, 3 @ Taunton, 1 – Final
– Franklin built a 1-0 lead at half, doubled that advantage in the second half, and walked away with a 3-1 decision to qualify for the state tournament. Nick Barry opened the scoring on an assist from Donny Tappin to give the Panthers a lead by halftime. Tim Duval and Lucas Moura scored second half goals for Franklin.

Girls Soccer = Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 4 – Final
– Anna Balkus scored twice and Calen Frongillo had a pair of assists to lift Franklin to a big win to keep pace with league-leading Mansfield. Sydney St. Marie and Bridgette Ginley also scored goals for the Panthers. Hailey Toolin and Kaylee DeSimone each had assists. Franklin goalie Breanna Atwood made three saves for the clean sheet.

Golf = Franklin, 160 @ Oliver Ames, 150 – Final
– In the final dual match of the season, Oliver Ames knocked off Franklin to earn a share of the Kelley-Rex title with the Panthers. Nolan Donze led the way with a 35, both Liam Barry and Justin Shapiro fired rounds of 38, and Thomas Walsh chipped in with a 39.

The Franklin Arts Academy (FAA) Boosters will be hosting a Beer and Wine Tasting Fundraiser with proceeds being used to fund an FAA student field trip and scholarships for FAA seniors. 

Raffles available at the door. Light snacks and live entertainment will be provided.

Pour Richard’s is graciously hosting the event and will also be donating a portion of sales proceeds to the FAA Boosters.

What better time to check out these new resources than now – it's National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and this week's theme is cybersecurity at work.

The campaign is co-branded with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Franklin Historical Museum: Winter Hours Begin - Holiday Ornaments For Sale

Starting the first week in November, the Franklin Historical Museum will move to their winter hours, opening weekends only. As the days become shorter and cooler, history has shown that attendance has dropped on Thursday evenings. Winter hours are Saturday mornings 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM and Sunday afternoons 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

Work continues at the museum as old siding is removed and replaced. Looking for a gift or stocking stuffer? Painted holiday ornaments depicting the Gazebo at the Franklin Town Common will be sold in the museum gift shop while supplies last. The Friends of the Franklin Historical Museum are selling the ornaments, in a sturdy handsome gift box for $15.00 each.

2019 Calendars filled with historic Franklin photos will be available for sale before the end of November. A perfect gift for everyone who loves Franklin. 

The schedule Second Sunday Speaker event for November 11 has been cancelled. please plan to attend the Veterans Walkway dedication that day at the Town Common.

The museum looks forward to participating once again in the Downtown Partnership Holiday stroll in early December and the return of Mrs. Claus.

There's Still Time to Join us for the 2018 Senior Fair!
Greetings,

Each fall, I am thrilled to host the Senior Health and Wellness Fair. As you may know from past years, this is an exciting event for everyone involved!

The fair will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical School, 750 Winter Street in Framingham. The event includes a continental breakfast and hot lunch!

The goal of the Senior Health and Wellness Fair is to provide a forum for MetroWest seniors to learn, ask questions and enjoy a fun day out. This year's program will include workshops on health programs, benefits and wellness activities. A variety of booths will provide information on health and wellness topics ranging from preventing falls, to dental health, to decluttering your home. Remember to bring your insurance card to make sure you can get your flu shot!

The Furry Friends of the Franklin Dog Park can use your help

The volunteer committee of the Furry Friends of the Franklin Dog Park are having a major clean up on October 27 from 8 AM to noon. Franklin DPW will be there with equipment to upgrade the surface of the dog park. 

"Dog park will be closed from 8 AM to Noon"

Volunteers needed to help spread the new wool chips. Students bring your paper work to receive your credit for community service. 

We need wheel barrows, shovels and rakes. 
Refreshments will be there for anyone that helps. 
We are a volunteer dog park group.
