What to Expect this Year in Religious Education at St. Mary Church

After reading all of the survey entries (thanks so much to everyone who submitted the survey) and listening to the directives from the Town of Franklin and the Archdiocese of Boston, we have decided to have the students (Grades 1-8) do his/her book at home. In addition to that we will be offering two webinars per month for each grade level. There will be more information about the program in a few weeks.

Remote classes will begin on Monday, October 5. We want to allow all of our families some time to get used to the "new normal" with this school year. Each of our students (Grades 3-8) will be receiving both a book and an e-book and they can choose whichever works best for them--or even a combination. Grade 1 and 2 will have a slightly different setup--more information will be given soon.

The Confirmation Program (Confirmation 1 and Confirmation 2) will continue to use Dynamic Catholic’s Decision Point program, a primarily video-based series. This year the program will be spread out over the entire school year rather than condensed into a semester. All activities will be completed online. Again, much more information will be distributed to parents soon.

Registration will begin on Wednesday, August 12. You are able to register everyday/all day (24/7) with your credit card or debit card at www.stmarysfranklin.org. The Registration will remain open until Saturday, September 12 at 11:55 PM.

Here are a few bits of information that all families need to know before you register:

  • If you have a child entering Grade 1 (First Communion 1) in the fall, you will be able to register him/her online with the link below. You will be registering them as a New Student. The exact date and church of Baptism is required.
  • Payment is necessary at the time of registration. It will not allow you to register and go back later to pay the fee. If you need to pay with cash or a check, please contact us so we can set up a time for you to come in and register. As always, if anyone has a financial hardship that makes it difficult to register now, please give me a call.
  • An additional Confirmation Fee ($75.00) that covers the cost of everything pertaining to Confirmation is collected at the time of Grade 9 registration.
  • If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Registration Process, please call the Religious Education Office at 508-528-1450 or email us at reled.director@stmarysfranklin.org.

"identified social gatherings without masks as their biggest challenge this summer"

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The state has identified 33 communities where worrying trends in COVID-19 infection rates warrant targeted intervention efforts, and the state plans to offer those municipalities assistance with testing, contact tracing and public awareness campaigns, Gov. Charlie Baker said Tuesday.

The effort is part of a new initiative to better inform residents about the spread of the coronavirus in their communities and the cities and towns where they work, shop or travel to on a regular basis so they can make informed decisions about precautions to limit infections.

“People need to step up and be aware of the level of spread in each community, especially in your own area, and be vigilant,” Baker said during a Tuesday press conference at the State House.

The administration said it will begin publishing weekly data showing town-by-town infections rates and assigning every community a color based on the level of infection and spread detected by testing."
