350 Mass Greater Franklin Node

We welcome you to the meeting, whether you have participated in the past or not. Join our discussion of climate and energy developments locally, across the state, and nationally. Learn about planned advocacy and protest actions organized by 350 Mass and other groups. Help to plan for events in our Greater Franklin region. If you have items you would like to announce or add to the agenda, please reply to our Node Co-coordinators, Carolyn Barthel (carolyncbarthel@gmail.com) and Ralph Halpern (ralph.halpern@comcast.net).

We are also looking forward to this year's 350 Mass Summit, this Saturday, November 19th from 10-5pm. This will be a day of workshops, community building, and strategizing. We will also reflect on our previous campaign and plan for our future campaign direction. The Summit will be held at Brandeis, with some sessions also shown over Zoom. More information and registration are here.  As noted, this event is for EVERYONE! That means old friends and new, long time leaders and first time activists. If you are planning to attend, bring a friend.

We hope you receive 350 Mass' Climate Weekly email. It's a good way to keep up with key issues and actions on their behalf. You can sign up here.

We will send a reminder about the Node's meeting on Thursday.

Thank you.

Carolyn Barthel

Have you checked out the 25 Medicare drug plans available in your area (02038), including 4 new plans?

Now's the time to find the best plan for your needs and budget — you may even find a plan that saves you money!

Compare Plans

Here are a few tips: Log in with your Medicare account — and add your prescription drugs and local pharmacies — to get more personalized recommendations. When comparing plans, look at the estimated "Yearly Drug & Premium Cost." A plan with the lowest premium may not always give you the lowest total cost.

Important: If your income for 2022 is below $18,600 ($25,000 for married couples), you may be able to save on your monthly Medicare premiums and other out-of-pocket Medicare costs, including prescription drug costs. See if you qualify for Medicare Savings Programs and learn how to apply.

Sincerely,

The Medicare Team

The Shop Local for Holidays Series features Pour Richard’s Wine & Spirits

Written by:  Lyn MacLean

Here at Franklin Matters, we would like to encourage shopping locally during the upcoming holiday season.  Over the next few weeks, we plan to feature a variety of local establishments to highlight some of the wonderful gift options they can offer just a short distance away.  Avoid the crowds, avoid the parking scramble, and support your local shop owners.

Pour Richard’s Wine & Spirits
Pour Richard’s Wine & Spirits
Gift giving, home cooked meals and the special pairing of a fine wine or spirit epitomize the traditions for many this time of year.   This is why today we would like to highlight POUR RICHARD’S WINE & SPIRITS at their new location at 835 West Central Street #2 Franklin. They are currently celebrating their 10 year Anniversary serving the Franklin community.

Never Drink Ordinary” is their motto and I can see why.  As I entered the store, I immediately was greeted with the warm presence of the owner Ann Williams.  I quickly recognized the unique well-edited selection of wines, craft beers, ciders, and spirits that were available.

With a long-standing experience in the beverage industry, Ann worked with Blackbutton Distilling to create a Pour Richards private label bespoke Gin.  This Gin was formulated with nothing added or subtracted, no sugar or cornstarch were added which lends to a rich spirit.

A second Pour Richards blend included the Mad River Double Barrel Rum created in bourbon barrels, a third called the Hill Rock Bourbon Whiskey and a fourth, Ladies Choice Bourbon Whiskey.

Pour Richards provides a highly personalized service.  The owner makes an effort to know all customers names and loves to provide suggestions to meet personal tastes.

With advance notice the store is more than happy to create custom gift baskets where they can curate suggestions or fulfill any specific spirit requests you may have for your recipient.

Along with gift baskets, curated 3 or 6 pack of craft beers, cases of wine and tasting kits of various spirits can be packaged. To top off this personalized service, keep in mind that curbside pickup is available to expedite your purchases quickly during this hurried season.

Several upcoming events to kick off the holiday season are listed below.  You can sign up in person or online at www.pourrichardswine.com
