FHS girls basketball team opens against defending State Champs and lose

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, December 12, 2025


Girls Basketball = Franklin, 33 vs. Wachusett, 66 – Final 
– Franklin had a tough task on day one of the season, facing the defending state champs. Wachusett looked like it was in midseason form, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and 44 by halftime. Franklin had only 11 at the break but had double that total in the second half. Freshman Brielle Nicholls led the way for the Panthers with eight points, including a pair of threes in the third quarter. Liz Dumais added seven and Tessah Rodrigues scored five.

Boys Swimming = Franklin, 62 @ Attleboro, 87 – Final 
– Attleboro boys opened the meet with a win over Franklin, using depth to control the scoring throughout. While Franklin won seven of the 11 events, Attleboro filled nearly every lane and piled up points in the middle places. Sophomore Kris Kotnisz led the Bombardiers with wins in the 100 butterfly (58.86) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.05), qualifying for sectionals in both events. Captain Seal Mukasa finished second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, junior Ayden Gietz placed second in the 500 freestyle, and freshman Murtaza Husain added a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley. Franklin was led by Zack Pecora, who won the 200 IM and the 500 free, and Ollie McCarthy, who swept the sprint events with victories in the 50 free and the 100 free. The Panthers also captured the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay behind Arsh Tyagi, Amir Shakirov, Pecora, and McCarthy. Tyagi added a win in the 100 backstroke for Franklin.


Girls Swimming = Franklin, 93 @ Attleboro, 68 – Final 
– Franklin girls earned a 93-68 win over Attleboro, pulling away with key individual and relay performances. Ava Pecora led the Panthers with victories in the 200 IM and the 500 free, while Elyse Ferreira won both the 200 free and the 100 free. Franklin opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay and later took first in the 200 free relay behind Aleksandra Baghadasaryan, Molly McKinnon, Ferreira, and Pecora. The Panthers also added a win in the 100 backstroke from Baghadasaryan to help seal the victory. Attleboro was led by junior Samantha Provost, who won the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly while posting state qualifying times in both events. Senior Ava Dougherty added a first-place finish and state cut in the 100 breaststroke and placed second in the 200 individual medley. Provost and Dougherty teamed with Abby Emond and Allison Tower to place second in the 200 medley relay with a sectional qualifying time and finish second in the 200 freestyle relay. Cece Araujo added points with a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle and a third-place swim in the 200 freestyle.
