Field Hockey = Oliver Ames, 0 @ Franklin, 9 – Final
– Senior Ella Marzullo scored twice and sophomore Amelia Manning added two goals of her own as Franklin’s offense stayed hot against Oliver Ames. Sophomore Cade Taccini, senior Jossie Camp, senior Kiley Silvestri, sophomore Lila Reardon, and sophomore Cara Freiwald (first career goal) also found the back of the net. Junior Penelope Brady dished out two assists, while senior Tori Cahill, senior Caydence Canavan, and Reardon also set up goals. Junior Elise Ackerman recorded the shutout in net.
Golf = Sharon, 188 @ Franklin, 152 – Final
– Senior Tyler Perlman fired an even-par 35 to earn match medalist honors and help Franklin complete the season sweep of Sharon after also beating the Eagles earlier in the week at the Cape Club of Sharon. Perlman birdied four and five, while junior Bryce Botelho carded a 36 with a birdie on two and six pars. Senior Ben Burgess added a 39, and sophomore Ethan Helm rounded out the Panthers’ scoring with a 42 that included birdies on two and seven. For Sharon, senior Chase Coffman led the Eagles with a 45, while senior Kuvum Suppal and junior Griffin Weiner each shot 49.
Volleyball = Oliver Ames, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
"A matchup between two of the best volleyball teams in the state lived up to the hype on Friday night. A full five sets were needed to crown a winner between the Hockomock League foes, but Oliver Ames came away with the win, 25-19, 20-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8.
Oliver Ames trailed 3-1 early in the deciding fifth set before rattling off five consecutive points to take the lead.
The Tigers led 8-4 when the teams switched sides at the midway mark. Senior Taylor Donohue kept the momentum rolling after the swap with a kill, and sophomore Lyla Yurrita eventually put the finishing touches on the win with a forceful block. The clinching block was Yurrita’s third of the match.
“I think we know what it feels like to lose, and I just don’t think we wanted to feel like that again,” Oliver Ames middle blocker and senior Claire Kenny said. “We did have a slow start, but I think just hyping each other up in the huddles and saying that we can do it really got us to push each other harder.”
The Panthers and Tigers were the Division I and Division II state champions last year, respectively. As such, there was no shortage of anticipation leading into the matchup."
