Franklin TV: Flying Lights?
Our Main Studio Update
by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 08/10/2025
They say ‘Time flies when you’re having fun.’ Our sense of time is suspended when we’re engrossed in activities that we enjoy deeply. When the work is fun? All the more so. It’s five already? Where’d the day go? It’s Friday? Where’d the week go? It’s 2025? Where’d a whole decade go? Tempus fugit! Srsly!
We moved into our studio building at the start of 2015, and time has indeed flown. Our main studio is a big space. Big spaces become cluttered. We have de-cluttered. Now, after ten years, we are purging, cleaning, updating. In this final phase of studio we’re starting (again) from scratch. We’re pulling, cleaning, reprogrammimg, and remapping all of our studio luminaires (lights).
These broad ‘softbox’ lights will provide the base illumination for two studio sets. We will fly as many PAR and Fresnel lights for color accents and key areas. Each luminaire will fly again as we upgrade our studio to support the latest production techniques for staging virtual reality sets. Our new lighting layout will afford us more flexible, ample ‘fire power’ to stage more creative projects. We’re working as quickly as we can to fly all of our lights this week – because time is indeed flying.
And – as always –
