“Daddy Daughter Hair School” scheduled for Friday, Jan 16 at the Franklin Public Library

The Franklin Public Library will host a hands-on, family-friendly event titled “Daddy Daughter Hair School” on Friday, January 16, at 3:30 p.m. at the Franklin Public Library. The event, presented in partnership with Franklin Fathers is open to grown-ups and kiddos and is designed as a fun, practical hairstyling workshop to kick off the new year.

Friday, Jan 16 at the Franklin Public Library
Participants will learn several simple, kid-friendly hairstyles and leave with a take-home kit to continue building skills at home. The workshop is intentionally welcoming to caregivers of all experience levels and emphasizes learning through doing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own brush (BYOB).

“Events like this remind us that fatherhood is learned in small, everyday moments,” said Andy Majcher, a founding member of Franklin Fathers. “Whether it’s mastering a ponytail or spending an hour focused on your child, those moments add up—to stronger families and a stronger Franklin.”

“Daddy Daughter Hair School” is part of a growing series of community events organized by Franklin Fathers. Franklin Fathers is a community-based organization dedicated to uniting men and caregivers in Franklin around the shared goals of building family and neighborhood connections, promoting mutual support, and advocating for local families. Recent and ongoing programs include holiday Stories & Songs events, Dads & Donuts at Downtown Sports, casual social meetups for dads and caregivers, and additional offerings planned throughout the year.

“Part of our mission is helping men get better at being dads and better at being members of the community,” said Matt Hickey, a founding member of Franklin Fathers. “Sometimes that means learning practical skills, sometimes it means showing up and building relationships—but it always means being present and engaged with our kids and our town.”

The event is free and open to the public. Space may be limited, and early arrival is encouraged.

Boys Basketball = Franklin, 51 @ Attleboro, 75 – Final
-  Attleboro built an early double-digit lead and then ran away with it in the second half, handing head coach Mark Houle his 400th career win with a convincing decision over Franklin. The Bombardiers were up 10 at the end of one (18-8) and at half time (33-23) and then dropped 22 points in the third quarter to create a comfortable cushion going into the fourth. Seven different Bombardiers contributed to the scoring in the big third quarter, including seven from senior Ladainian Rodrigues, who finished with a team-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Connor Houle added 10 points and seven assists, and junior Devin Dufresne chipped in with 11 points, including five in the opening quarter to help the hosts get off to a strong start. Sophomore Danny Santos scored a team-high 16 points for the Panthers while senior Ben Scaccia chipped in with 13 points.

Girls Basketball = Attleboro, 52 @ Franklin, 68 – Final
– Franklin used a quick start, leading by nine after the first quarter, and carried that to a third straight win (and fourth win in the last six games). Tessah Rodrigues and Liz Dumais combined for 11 points in the opening eight minutes, as the Panthers jumped out to an 18-9 lead. The rest of the game was just about even. Dumais and Rodrigues combined for 10 points in the second to push the advantage to 11, then the Panthers sank a pair of threes and went 8-for-16 at the line in the third to make it a 13-point edge going to the final quarter. Tia Williamson scored nine of her team-high 16 points in the fourth, but the Panthers scored 21 in the frame to close out a big win. Dumais finished with 18 points, with three triples, to lead Franklin. Rodrigues added 15 points and freshman Brielle Nicholls scored 10. Kaylee Fernandes chipped in with seven. Mia Cooper knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and had a career-high 14, while Jenna Callahan and Lola Ronayne each scored six for the Bombardiers.
