Franklin Schools: 2 HOUR DELAY - Plan to reassess with DPW in the morning - 2/28/23

Dear Franklin Public School Staff and Families,

The current weather predictions call for snow beginning this evening and continuing overnight. The snow is expected to impact our morning commute/arrival time to school. Based on the anticipated weather conditions and the current information, the Franklin Public Schools will have a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

I have been in ongoing communication with the Department of Public Works and Facilities regarding their ability to treat roads and remove snow around our schools. This additional time will allow our DPW and Facilities Department additional time adequately prepare for safe arrival at school.

When Franklin Public Schools has a delayed opening, ECDC will have a cancellation/delayed opening as follows:
*The ECDC morning session will be canceled.
*The ECDC full-day and extended sessions will delay opening by 2 hours. The delayed opening will NOT impact the afternoon session.

All before-school programs are canceled, and Solutions will follow the 2-hour delay schedule. Emergency busing will be in effect, and students walking to or from school will be offered rides by our drivers.

We will continue to follow tomorrow’s weather forecast carefully and reassess the conditions in the morning to ensure that we are prepared for school, to begin with a 2-hour delay.

If snowfall accumulates beyond capacity to clear for the opening of school, we will switch to a cancellation. We will make that call in the morning and notify staff and families no later than 7:00 AM. If you do not receive a cancellation notification by 7:00 AM, there will be only a 2-hour delay.

Respectfully,

Lucas Giguere
Superintendent

With the 4th of July falling on Monday, there will be a one day delay in the normal trash/recycle pickup schedule. If your schedule is normally on Monday, then it is Tuesday, if Tuesday, it is now Wednesday, and so forth.

If you accidentally tossed the new 2022-2023 curbside flyer from Waste Management (which picks up per contract from the Town of Franklin DPW), you can download a copy here  ->

Note the next one day delay in the normal schedule will be in September for Labor Day.

Escape into Fiction update on reopening status

"Just want to post here that we have delayed the opening of Escape Into Fiction a few days. Now scheduled for 2/5 Saturday at 10 AM. This will be a soft opening (waiting for Grand Opening until 3/5/2022.).
Sorry for the delay!! We had a lot of painting and counter work to do.
We WILL have drip coffee from Doglio Coffee but likely not on opening day. We will also have pop-up space for local venders to come in and have a market day, but not in the first few weeks.
We can’t wait to see everyone again!!"

Franklin Residents: Curbside Trash and Recycling Delayed One Day This Week

Good evening, this is the Franklin Department of Public Works calling with important information regarding our Solid Waste and Recycling program.  My name is Pavo, the electronic voice of the Franklin Public Works.
Unfortunately, we were informed by Waste Management that trash and recycling will be delayed by one day.  This is a regional, area-wide decision because of the recent blizzard.  Franklin was ready for a regular trash and recycling pickup, but I guess some surrounding communities were not.

Your DPW Director, Brutus, wants me to let you know that if your normal trash day is Monday, it will now be on Tuesday, Tuesday pick up will be on Wednesday, Wednesday trash and recycling will be picked up Thursday, Thursday trash and recycling will be picked up on Friday, and Friday's trash and recycling will be picked up on Saturday.

Thank you all for your support during this weekend's storm and have a great DPW day!

You received this message because you are subscribed to the [Town of Franklin-Residents] group.

Attention Residents: Message from the Franklin Department of Public Works - January 4, 2022

Message from the Franklin Department of Public Works
January 4th, 2022

Message from the Franklin Department of Public Works:

The Franklin DPW has been working with Waste Management throughout the pandemic to minimize disruption to the solid waste/single stream recycling curbside program. However, Waste Management's collection team has been impacted by a severe increase in COVID related absences. At this time, it is anticipated that Franklin's curbside trash & recycling collection will encounter occasional delays over the next several weeks. Routes that are not completed on their scheduled day will continue to be collected the following day.

In the midst of the new year, the DPW and the Waste Management team are keenly aware of the unfortunate timing of collection delays. It is always our goal to stay on track, and to ensure collection for trash and recycling occurs as scheduled.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes to the residents of Franklin. Rest assured that we are working all the angles to ensure each route is collected on its scheduled collection day.

Stay safe,

Franklin DPW
