Police Station Building Committee tours the current station built in 1991 on School District property (brief photo essay)

Chief TJ Lynch lead a small group of the Police Station Building Cmte and a few residents on a tour of the existing facility. Additional tours are being scheduled for September/October. Work is also underway to provide a video tour with Chief Lynch's narration for those who might be able to make the tours.

A brief recap of some of the existing conditions. And yes, the building is built on School property.

In the holding area, Chief Lynch describes the parole process.

The only significant change within the building was the addition of this evidence storage mechanism. It will likely move to a new facility if that is the ultimate decision of the committee and community

Charter School schedules Information Sessions and Building Tours - Jan 11, 2025

Information Sessions and Building Tours
Information Sessions and Building Tours
"Each winter we offer Information Sessions and Building Tours so that families can learn more about the school in advance of our annual Enrollment Lottery.
It is important to note that we can not guarantee the possibility of a building tour at the time an opening becomes available so we advise attending one of these two sessions during our enrollment season.
The first half of the event is a presentation from our Administrative Team, Parents and alumni. At the conclusion of the formal presentation, building tours are lead by our middle school students and alumni.
To help us gauge attendance please RSVP here: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLScgymuQ8.../viewform

Sign up for these virtual events -> learn about microcars, tour the Wang Theatre

Those Fabulous Microcars - Monday June 14 at 11 AM via zoom

Whether you think they are hilarious or amazing, the array of ultra-tiny cars popular in the decades after World War II (especially in Europe and Japan) are visually intriguing mechanical marvels. Parodied as “bubble cars” or refrigerators on wheels, these 1-6 passenger vehicles with tiny engines were engineered to get an impoverished, war-ravaged world back on the road. Alan Earls, local historian and microcar aficionado (the first car he ever drove was a micro) will share slides, stories and insights for “car geeks” or anyone with an interest in the unusual…

A Night at the Theatre: Tour of the Wang Theater - ZOOM-June 17 at 6 PM “A Night at the Theatre” - Experience the beauty and wonder of the historic Wang Theatre live in your home through our Virtual Tour!

Go behind the scenes of one of Boston’s most prominent landmarks! Guests will go behind the scenes and see hallways walked by entertainers like Bruce Springsteen, Ella Fitzgerald, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Queen, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli and more! This is not a prerecorded video; each tour is led by a trained guide that will take viewers through the building and backstage and answer questions about its unique history; from its roots as a hotel and glamorous days as a movie “cathedral”, to today’s role as an impressive venue for performances and events. Please register for this zoom event by emailing adoggett@franklinma.gov

MA Walking Tour Concert (video)

We shared the Massachusetts Walking Tour schedule here in June. This video shares some highlights of the walk as well as the concert that took place in Norfolk.

"The Massachusetts Walking Tour -- this year highlighting the local area’s Ten Mile River Watershed -- runs June 17 through 29. All on foot, the traveling musicians give a free concert in each community they stop at and host daily community hikes to bring awareness to local natural resources. In each town, they invite local performers to share the stage with them, promoting local arts and culture in the process.

Like traveling minstrels of old, songwriters Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards are getting ready to pack up their instruments and other gear and take their show on the road.

The pair is marking the 10th year of their Massachusetts Walking Tour - this year highlighting the region’s Ten Mile River Watershed."
