Hope Center - Recovery Stand up comedy workshop for 6 weeks during November

Stand up and have some fun at the HOPE Center!

We are offering a six-week workshop to teach people in recovery the basics of stand up comedy, featuring Alex Mann.

Have people told you that you should do stand up?

Want to get something off your bucket list?

Looking to be a better public speaker?

This workshop is for you.

We all have funny stories that people love to hear.

We will work together to take your stories and jokes and make a five-minute set that you can take to open mics and maybe start your own journey into comedy.

Alex Mann has been performing for over 10 years as a stand up and improv comedian.

He's performed all over New England and the U.S.

Native Plant Seed Starting Workshop
Growing native plants in your yard is essential for supporting pollinators and birds. Join us for a presentation on the importance of native plants and how to grow them in your yard.

Together we will do some "winter sowing.” We will be planting seeds in gallon jug greenhouses so that you can plant the plants in your yard this spring. We will provide native plant seeds and soil. You provide the gallon jugs for planting in (the kind milk and water come in).

This workshop will be led by Stirling Cousins, a member of the FUSF Sustainable Native Landscape Team. Stirling is a lay member of FUSF and has a background in biology, environmental science and teaching. She is a certified Field Naturalist in both New York and Massachusetts.  She has created native plant gardens in six home and business settings.

The First Universalist Society in Franklin (FUSF) is a Unitarian Universalist Welcoming Congregation located at 262 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Our Interim Minister is Reverend Beverly Waring.

Franklin Art Association will sponsor a Collage Workshop by Lenny Moskowitz - Dec 7

On Saturday, December 7 the Franklin Art Association will sponsor a Collage Workshop by Lenny Moskowitz

Lenny received his B.F.A. from the Philadelphia College of Art and his M.F.A. from Michigan’s Cranbrook Academy. He has taught at Quinnipiac University for 15 years, at various art centers in New England and has been an artist in residence in several places, including Weir Farm in Wilton, Connecticut, the Anderson Center in Minnesota, and the Art Association of Nantucket. He also exhibits his work widely.

Through demonstrations and individual guidance students of all levels will be introduced to using collage as a means of exploring landscape, still life, or abstraction. It is designed to simplify the creation of subjects by transforming them into large shapes and simple areas of value and color. We will work with magazine pages collected for color.

Students will need to bring scissors, sketchpad, pencils, charcoal, magazines, glue or glue stick, necessary painting materials, etc. Acrylic painters also will need a spray water bottle. An acrylic matte medium is recommended.

The workshop will take place at Franklin TV, 23 Hutchinson St, Franklin on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 am–3:30 pm. The fee is $65.

To register, contact Susan Plume at susan_plume@yahoo.com or text 508-846-2589 and send a check payable to FAA to: Treasurer, Franklin Art Association, 279 East Central St., PO 289, Franklin, MA 02028
