– Foxboro rallied from a goal down twice and freshman Brenna Turner delivered the go-ahead goal 10 minutes into the second half to lift the Warriors to the upset and their first win of the season. Franklin got the first goal, but Foxboro quickly equalized. Kennedy Maling teed up Shea Dorney for a shot from just outside the box (her second goal in as many games) to make it 1-1. The Panthers regained the advantage and went into halftime in front. Less than a minute into the second half, Maling slipped a through ball to Ava Picard, who was fouled in the box. Picard converted the penalty to make it 2-2. Ten minutes later, Turner won the ball in midfield and fired a shot over the keeper’s head for what turned out to be the winner. Foxboro’s defense held out for the final half hour, Keira D’Arcy, Ashley Goldstein, Mia Flanagan, and Ella Carton had impressive performances and Julia Luck backed them up by making several key saves.

"Despite not recording a first down in the first half, Franklin went into the locker room at halftime with a little bit of momentum. A goal-line stand on defense kept Canton’s lead to just two scores with the Panthers getting the ball to start the third quarter.
The hosts were one good drive from getting back into Friday night’s season opener at Pisini Stadium. Instead, a turnover on the third play gave Canton back the ball with a short field and the Bulldogs capitalized, converting the drive into a third touchdown to break the game wide open.
Behind a terrific night from senior quarterback JT Norton (20-of-32, 350 yards, three touchdowns) and from its defense (5 sacks, two forced turnovers, three first downs allowed), Canton pulled away for a convincing 34-0 win. It was Canton’s first win against Franklin since 1990, ending a string of 18 straight Franklin victories (the teams haven’t played since 2011 when the league split into two divisions).
“This is what we’ve been building towards for the last four or five years,” Canton coach Anthony Fallon. “We knew we could get here and we could do this if we did the right things and these guys bought in and they want to be at that level. We’re working on getting the program to where it used to be and where it should be.”

King Philip pulled one back early in the fourth quarter when Abbey Pompei redirected Ella Morgan’s tip off a shot from Tayla McDuff, but the Warriors were unable to solve Franklin goalie Devon Barry (seven saves) the rest of the way. Lauren Griffin had a strong game in net for the Warriors with seven saves. Franklin coach Michelle Hess noted the great defensive effort of Jossie Camp as well as a strong performance from Aparo.

"Franklin boys basketball head coach CJ Neely is stepping down after 11 years at the helm of the Panthers, he confirmed to HockomockSports.com. He guided the Panthers to the program’s first state championship this past March.
Neely met with his players and school administrators on Friday afternoon to announce his decision.
“My kids are getting older, and I want to be a part of this time in their lives,” Neely said. “Basketball was conflicting with being there for them, being a coach for them, and just being a dad. I want to be around more while they’re still young. I think about how fast they’re growing up, and I want to maximize the time I have with them. I didn’t want to shortchange Franklin by being pulled in different directions.”
In his time at Franklin, the Panthers won four Kelley-Rex titles, reached four Division 1 state finals, and capped a 25-1 season this past year with a 55-52 win over Newton North in the championship game. He is a three-time HockomockSports Coach of the Year, earning the honors in 2022, 2024, and 2025."

– The reigning division champs each grabbed a point in a scoreless season opener at Muscato Stadium in Easton. Casey Flynn (Franklin) and Zack Gilson (OA) each recorded the shutout in net.
Girls Soccer = Oliver Ames, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
Josh Perry || HockomockSports.com Managing Editor provides the game recap:
"After hitting the woodwork and forcing Oliver Ames sophomore goalie Olivia Zaniboni into six first half saves, Franklin was feeling a little frustrated that it hadn’t gotten on the board in Thursday afternoon’s season opener at Pisini Stadium.
Things got worse two minutes before the break when OA senior Jolie Diaz laced a shot from 20 yards into the top corner to put the Tigers ahead against the run of play.
Rather than get deflated, Franklin came out for the second half with renewed energy and quickly turned things around. The Panthers got goals from Gwen Holland and Phoebe Cuneo to complete the comeback and secure a 2-1 win, their fourth straight win in the series, which has become the annual opening fixture for the perennial league powers."

Field Hockey = Oliver Ames, 1 @ Franklin, 5 – Final
– Franklin built a three-goal lead in the first half and never looked back to open the season with a 5-1 win over visiting Oliver Ames. Junior Ella Marzullo opened the scoring five minutes into the game, finishing off a pass from Addi Weiss to give the hosts an early advantage. Franklin then tallied twice in quick succession in the second as Penelope Brady and Ava Lucenta scored back-to-back goals less than a minute apart. Brady (from Marzullo) got her second just before the midway point of the third to make it 4-0, and Weiss buried a chance on a corner with both Brady and Lucenta setting it up to make it 5-0. OA senior Linda Cooper got the Tigers on the board with nine minutes left in the game. Devon Barry made three saves in the win for Franklin.
Ryan Lanigan || HockomockSports Editor provides the game recap:
For Oliver Ames, the first two sets of the new season certainly felt like a continuation of a year ago when the Tigers reached the state championship.
With the lineup filled with mostly returning players, Oliver Ames landed some big swings, kept their serves in play, and played some tremendous defense that prevented Franklin from creating any sort of momentum to race out to a 2-0 lead.
A third set letdown allowed the Panthers to stay alive, and after both teams seemed to find their footing again in the fourth, Franklin was on the verge of forcing a fifth and final set when an OA hitting error put the hosts ahead, 23-17.
But one point led to another, which led to another — a kill apiece from juniors Claire Kenny in the middle and Taylor Donohue on the outside, sandwiched around a hitting error from the Panthers — and the six-point deficit was cut in half. Junior setter Lyla McDonough took advantage of a nice pass from classmate Molly Milliken and set up Kenny on a quick set for another kill, and just like that, it was a two-point game.
