FHS girls basketball top Arlington to advance in playoffs on Thursday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Thursday, February 26, 2026

Girls Basketball = Division 1 #18 Arlington, 39 @ #15 Franklin, 62 – Final

Franklin TV available for replay https://www.youtube.com/live/m3bvo8AS7Pw?&t=1592

Franklin looked a little sluggish in the first couple minutes of Thursday night’s Div. 1 opening round game against No. 18 seed Arlington. Then junior guard Ava Bonney stepped off the bench, started firing away, and sparked a game-changing 13-0 run that put the Panthers in front to stay.

Bonney scored 10 points in the first, eight more in the third, and finished with a career-high 22 to lead Franklin to a dominant 62-39 victory over the Spy Ponders and another trip to the Sweet Sixteen.

“That’s the game we want her to play,” Franklin coach John Leighton said of Bonney’s performance. “I thought her confidence to get into the paint was the biggest part of the game. It wasn’t the threes, which are great, but it was her ability to break them down off the dribble.”

“Arlington knows we shoot a lot of threes, they extended, and we took advantage of that. I thought Ava had an outstanding game.”

Catching up to Wednesday's results

Boys Basketball = Division 1 = #36 Franklin, 47 @ #29 Lowell, 64 – Final
– Franklin rallied with a big third quarter to pull within striking distance to start the fourth but Lowell opened the frame with a game-clinching run to pull off the win. The Red Raiders controlled the first half and carried a 35-20 led into the locker room at halftime but the Panthers found a rhythm in the third and outscored their entire first half output with 21 minutes, closing the gap to 47-41 heading into the fourth. Lowell’s defense clamped down in the fourth, holding the Panthers to just two points over the first five minutes, and the hosts pulled away from there. Senior Jack Sullivan helped spark the third quarter comeback, scoring eight of his team-high 14 points in that frame. Senior Justice Samuels and sophomore Gio Carlucci each chipped in with nine points apiece for the Panthers.

FHS winter sports results for Thursday, February 19, 2026

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Thursday, February 19, 2026

Boys Basketball = Franklin, 37 @ Doherty, 48 – Final
– Doherty built some breathing room through three quarters and finished strong in the fourth to knock off Franklin in the season-finale. Sophomore Danny Santos led the Panthers with nine points while Kyle Batla and Gio Carlucci each chipped in with six points.

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 1 @ Canton, 4 – Final
– Junior Ryan Elrick scored a pair of goals in the third period to complete a hat trick and help Canton notch its second win over Franklin this season. The Bulldogs dominated the opening period and had a 23-1 advantage in shots on goal but Franklin senior Alex Weber stood tall and made some impressive stops to keep Canton scoreless. The hosts broke through just over four minutes into the second period as senior Joey Ryan dropped a pass to classmate Teddy Shuman, and he found Elrick in the right circle for a laser top shelf to break the stalemate. With under two minutes left in the middle frame, the Panthers nearly tied the game on a 2-on-1 when Thomas Quinn teed up Drake McAlpine, but Canton goalie Matt Wright made a quick push from left to right and made the stop. But on the ensuing face off, McAlpine circled the net, faked a centering pass, and then ripped a tight angle shot to the near post to tie the game 1-1 after two periods. Canton started the third with 58 seconds left on a power play but only needed 20 to regain the lead. Shuman once again found Elrick and this time he fired a low shot to make it 2-1. After killing off a Franklin power play, Canton got its third when sophomore Kellen Labanara found Ryan in the corner and he dropped a terrific pass to Elrick in the slot for his third goal of the game and 30th of the season. Ryan added an empty net goal in the final seconds to cap the scoring. Weber finished with 46 saves in net for Franklin.

– Franklin kept the game low scoring and controlled the tempo for the most part through two and a half quarters but New Bedford seized control over the final 12 minutes of the game to pull away for the win. The Whalers threatened to pull away in the third but senior James Crowley scored back-to-back buckets off feeds from classmate Jack Sullivan and sophomore Danny Santos, and sophomore Gio Carlucci added a free throw as the Panthers pulled within 31-26 with 3:30 to play in the third. But over the the remainder of the third and the first half of the fourth, New Bedford outscored Franklin 23-12 to gradually create separation. New Bedford freshman Camden Hill scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the second half and Diego Montanari (20 points, 13 rebounds, six assists) had a strong all-around game. FHS boys hockey top Mansfield; their 2nd win in 24 hours (video)

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Thursday, February 12, 2026

Boys Hockey = Mansfield, 0 @ Franklin, 9 – Final
Franklin TV video for replay - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWj9yQcKJLw

– Thomas Quinn (assist) and Drake McAlpine (three assists) each scored twice, as Franklin picked up its second win in less than 24 hours. It was a physical game to start with more hits in the first period than shots on goal. With 3:18 left in the first, Rocco Lampasona’s shot from the right-wing circle was tipped in by Quinn to put the Panthers in front. Franklin broke the game wide open in the second, scoring on five of its 12 shots. Just 34 seconds into the period, McAlpine made a perfect pass across the crease to Quinn or a tap in. It was Quinn’s fifth goal in the last two games. Less than two minutes later, Nathan Dennett slipped a pass through a defenseman’s skates into the path of Collin Canavan, who buried the breakaway chance. McAlpine would get his first when he cut across the zone from the left-wing boards and lifted a backhand from the slot. He would then get another assist with an angled pass across the zone to Lampasona, who fired his shot just under the bar. On a two-on-one, Canavan saucered a pass over to Dennett, who went bar-down for a 6-0 lead. In the third, McAlpine added his second, Dylan Parmenter capped senior night by scoring his first varsity goal, and Ayden Doyle tacked on a ninth for the Panthers (their 14th goal in the past two days). Thomas Rovani made 24 saves to earn the shutout.

FHS boys hockey tops Bishop Feehan on Wednesday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Wednesday, February 11, 2026

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 29 @ Wachusett, 74 – Final

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 5 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2
– Franklin secured a massive win in its quest to earn a playoff berth, beating a Feehan team that went into the game nine places above the Panthers in the Div. 1 rankings. Thomas Quinn had a hat trick and an assist to power the Franklin offense. Rocco Lampasona also found the back of the net and dished out a pair of assists, while Drake McAlpine had a goal and an assist. Drew Stolller also had a helper in the win.

Girls Hockey = Canton, 5 @ Franklin, 1 – Final
– Franklin took a shock lead early in the second period but Canton answered with five straight goals to secure the league win and a sweep of the season series. The Bulldogs dominated the opening period but couldn’t find a way past Franklin junior goalie Abby Trevino, who made 17 saves in the first to keep the game scoreless. Franklin had only one shot from outside the blue line in the first, but a minute into the second it was the Panthers who found the back of the net first. Freshman Cade Taccini slipped a pass across the crease and Chiara Pecci was able to slide it under the pads for Franklin’s 10th goal of the season. The lead only lasted 38 seconds before Canton tied it. Grace Donahue’s shot from the point went through a crowd of bodies and was knocked down in the crease. Abby Stock pounced on the loose puck and knocked it in. Midway through the second, Canton took the lead. Freshman Stella DiLorenzo collected a loose puck on the right side and snapped off a shot that beat Trevino from a tight angle. Trevino made a nice save to deny Rori Sasin, but the sophomore forward stuck with the rebound and flicked it into the net for a 3-1 lead. With 1:04 left in the period, Shannon Lane made a nifty pass to Sasin in the slot and Sasin smashed a one-timer into the top corner. Both teams hit the post in the third and Canton added a fifth with 5:25 to play. Cassidy Lyons carried the puck behind the net and slid a pass in front for DiLorenzo to add her second. Trevino finished with 40 saves for the Panthers.

FHS boys hockey top Attleboro on Wednesday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Wednesday, February 4, 2026

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 5 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final
– Franklin scored four goals in the final seven minutes of the game to pull away from Attleboro in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. The Panthers jumped ahead midway through the opening period on a breakaway goal from Drake McAlpine. The game stayed that way through a scoreless second before Attleboro got on the board five minutes into the third to tie the game. Cam Elliott took a pass in the neutral zone and was able to fend off a pair of defensemen before picking the top corner to make it 1-1. Franklin regained the lead on the power play on a goal from James McLaughlin (from Colby Yagnesak) and then doubled its advantage just a minute later when Thomas Quinn lit the lamp, assisted by McAlpine and Drew Stoller. Attleboro went on the power play with two minutes to go and pulled the goalie to make it 6-on-4 and had a good chance in front, but the puck hopped over a Bombardier stick and the Panthers pounced and Quinn scored an empty net goal. Cooper Taccini latched onto an Attleboro turnover and scored Franklin’s fifth with 10 seconds to go. Freshman Gavin Wolfe made 21 saves in net for the Bombardiers.

Girls Hockey =Franklin, 0 @ King Philip, 7 – Final
– King Philip snapped its three-game winless streak and its two-game scoreless streak with a seven-goal outburst against Franklin. Annabelle Curran scored twice and Molly Morgan added two goals, while Stephanie LeBlanc, Emma Richard, and Grace McCreedy each found the back of the net once in the win. Ella Morgan handed out two assists, Rylan McKillop and Tayla McDuff each finished with two helpers, and LeBlanc added two assists of her own, with Grace Lehan-Allen, Molly Coen, and Sydney Gannon also recording assists. Goalies Kiki Lynch and Olivia Klein combined for the shutout.

FHS girls basketball & boys hockey teams post wins on Sunday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Sunday, February 1, 2026

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 51 @ Milford, 47 – Final
– For the third time in six days, Franklin pulled out a win after trailing in the fourth quarter. Freshman Brielle Nicholls scored 11 of her 14 points to help the Panthers overcome a dogged Milford effort, extend their win streak to 10 games and leave them a win away from clinching at least a share of the Kelley-Rex title. It was a great start for the visitors, who jumped out to a 17-10 lead after one. Sophia Sacramone hit a pair of Franklin’s four threes in the first and scored eight points. An 8-0 run to start the second, pushed the lead up to 15. Evelena Dobecki scored half of those eight to help the Panthers make a run. Milford turned things around with a 17-5 run to get back within three by halftime. Freshman Anela Lefter got four points and Kyla Nashawaty added four more. Sacramone nailed a three to make it 30-22 but Ava Baglione answered with a three and laid the ball off to Nashawaty for a layup to close the half. The third quarter was rough for both offenses. The teams combined for just 10 points. Ava Bonney’s three-point play on an offensive rebound gave Franklin a 36-31 lead going to the fourth. Milford rallied again, going on a 7-0 run to grab its first lead on a Baglione drive. Nicholls got open in the corner for a three and scored on an offensive board from Kaylee Fernandes. A Katelyn Kearnan steal led to a Baglione layup and Nashawaty scored in the paint after a Lefter steal to make it 43-41. Tessah Rodrigues drilled a three (her only points of the night) to put Franklin in front. With the Panthers up 47-44 in the final minute, Bonney ripped the ball loose and threw it ahead for Nicholls to lay it in and give the Panthers a two-possession lead. Sacramone finished with a team-high 15 points and Bonney added nine points and seven rebounds. Liz Dumais chipped in with 11 rebounds. Baglione led all scorers with 18 points, Nashawaty finished with 12 points, and Reagan Cunningham had five points and 11 rebounds.

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 4 vs. Braintree, 6 – Final
– Franklin senior Drake McAlpine put the Panthers ahead 4-3 just before the midway point of the third period but Braintree scored back-to-back power play goals and added an insurance tally to earn a 6-4 win. After McAlpine’s goal, the Wamps tied the game on the power play less than a minute later. Braintree regained its lead with 4:18 to go with another power play goal and scored one more just 45 seconds later to secure the win. McAlpine and Rocco Lampasona each had a goal and an assist, Cooper Taccini and Collin Canavan each scored once, Thomas Quinn registered two assists, and Quinn Taccini chipped in with one helper for the Panthers.

Girls Hockey = Franklin, 2 @ Stoughton/Sharon, 3 – Final (OT)
– Sophomore Kayla Monaghan tied the game with three minutes to go and then buried a rebound 37 seconds into overtime to deliver Stoughton/Sharon a comeback win over Franklin. The Panthers took the first lead of the game five minutes in on a snipe from senior Jenny McLaughlin but Stoughton eighth grader Sophie Kirkwood answered five minutes into the second period to make it 1-1. Just three minutes later, Franklin sophomore Reese Beaulieu lit the lamp to put the Panthers back ahead. Monaghan collected the puck in the neutral zone and carried it in before her shot deflected off the glove and in with 2:57 to go. In overtime, sophomore Raegan Costello set up senior Addison Strunk for a shot on goal that bounced around in front before Monaghan cleaned it up for the game-winner.

FHS girls & boys basketball teams post wins vs Stoughton on Tuesday (video)

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, January 13, 2026

Boys Basketball = Stoughton, 52 @ Franklin, 75 – Final
– Stoughton got off to a strong start and had the lead after a quarter but Franklin surged ahead with 21 points in the second quarter and put the game out of reach with 22 points in the third quarter. Senior Traevon Jones was on fire in the opening quarter, hitting a trio of threes and finished with 13 of his 20 points (tying a career-high) in the opening frame as the Black Knights had a slim 17-15 edge after one. But Franklin started to attack the rim with success in the second: Ben Scaccia, Nas Johnson, Jack Sullivan, Justice Samuels, and James Crowley all hit shots from the floor as the Panthers pushed ahead, 36-27, going into halftime. It was more of the same in the third as Franklin had seven more two-point field goals, went 5-for-5 from the line, and sophomore Danny Santos hit a three as Franklin created plenty of separation, 58-39, going into the fourth. Crowley finished with a career-high 22 points to lead all scorers, Santos added 17 points, Sullivan scored 15 points, and Samuels chipped in with 10 points. Anthony Alessi added 13 points for the Black Knights.

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 65 @ Stoughton, 26 – Final
- Franklin had 11 players score and held Stoughton to single digits in three of the four quarters to run away with a big win (their fourth in a row) that pushes the Panthers into a first-place tie with Milford atop the Kelley-Rex division. Stoughton was held to just one made field goal in the first and freshman Brielle Nicholls scored seven of Franklin’s 13 to give the visitors a nine-point lead after one. Franklin exploded for 21 points in the second, with Evelena scoring seven and four Panthers knocking down threes. Momentum continued to be with the road team in the third, as Liz Dumais (six points, eight rebounds, and two blocks) scored four and Franklin outscored the Black Knights 16-6 to make it a 30-point lead. Even with most of its starters on the bench for the whole fourth quarter, Franklin added 15 more, including four off the bench from Devyn Cairns. Dobecki, Nicholls (five rebounds, six steals, and three assists), and freshman Chloe Gordon each scored nine points for the Panthers, while Ava Bonney scored eight and Tessah Rodrigues and Sophia Sacramone each finished with seven. Raine Tat was Stoughton’s high scorer with seven and she grabbed nine rebounds. Isabel Belmonte chipped in with five points and five boards in the loss.

FHS boys hockey ties Taunton on Saturday

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Saturday, January 10, 2026

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 1 @ Taunton, 1 – Final
"Too much of a good thing can quickly become a burden.

That was the case on Saturday afternoon when Taunton spent over nine minutes on the power play in the second period alone and ended up with just one goal to show for it.

Even worse for the Tigers was that Franklin scored in the short time of 5-on-5 play it had in the period.

Both teams had chances in the third period and overtime, but the Tigers and Panthers settled for a point apiece in a 1-1 tie at Aleixo Arena."

Boys Hockey = Franklin, 0 @ North Attleboro, 4 – Final
By Josh Perry || HockomockSports.com Managing Editor

"Going into the third period of Wednesday’s league opener at the New England Sports Village, North Attleboro had a one-goal lead over Franklin. Rocketeers coach Anthony Sarno, who coached the Panthers for two seasons, knew that his team couldn’t rest on that slim margin.

“Don’t take your foot off the gas because they’re not going to quit,” Sarno explained, when asked about his message to the team in the second intermission. “To play with a team like that, they’re hard, they’re physical, you’ve got to play through it. I’m proud, they all worked hard.”

The Rocketeers kept pushing and only 18 seconds into the third, Shaun Colonna managed to keep his balance after nearly falling under heavy pressure and he roofed a shot into the far corner to double North’s advantage.

North would score three times in the third and skate away with a comfortable 4-0 victory. It was North’s first win over Franklin since 2019, it’s third win in a row, and its second consecutive shutout."

Girls Hockey = Franklin, 1 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 7 – Final
– Locked in a tie game late in the second period, the Warriors erupted for three goals in the last four minutes and added three more goals in the third period to get a big league win. Ella Cohen scored twice to lead the offense as the team generated sustained pressure and a steady stream of scoring chances. Annabelle Fanjoy, Ashleigh Cromack, Kayla Isleib, Kara Martin, and Georgia Hulbig also found the back of the net in a balanced scoring effort. Defenders Charlotte Ricketts and Ellie Lloyd anchored the blue line with a strong defensive performance, helping limit chances the other way. Forward Sophia Keach-DaRossa was effective around the net, creating traffic and contributing to the offensive zone presence throughout the game.
