Beaver St. Interceptor Project: BEAVER STREET 24/7 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE!!

Starting Monday (6/16) at 7 AM, Beaver Street will be closed at the MBTA train tracks.  The area will be closed 24 hours a day until Friday (6/20) at 4 PM.

Those needing to access 242 to 290 Beaver Street will be able to use Rt. 140 only.  This includes access to Franklin Glass, Panera Fresh Dough Facility and Franklin Recreation. Access to all other locations on Beaver Street, including the Town of Franklin Recycling Center, Beaver Street Recreation Area, and the businesses on Master Drive will be accessed from Grove St.

The work on Beaver Street will continue into the week of June 23rd as well.

Monday (6/16) through Friday (6/20): The construction crew will also be working off the road within the Franklin Village Mall area to connect the new sewer main. No traffic impacts are expected.


At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with construction of the exterior building structure.

Monday (6/9) through Friday (6/13): The construction crew will be working off the road at 38 Pond St. and within the Franklin Village Mall area to connect the new sewer main. No traffic impacts are expected. 

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with construction of the exterior building structure.

CAUTION STEEL PLATES ON BEAVER STREET - On either side of the MBTA tracks Beaver Street will have steel plates to allow for traffic to pass over.  Please use caution when traveling in this area.  The contractor is planning to be back at Beaver Street the week of June 16th.  Starting at 7am on Monday 6/16 the road will be closed 24/7 to allow for installation of the sewer main under the MBTA tracks.

The Franklin Recreation Department will be temporarily relocating its office to Parmenter Elementary School (235 Wachusett Street) beginning Monday, June 23, 2025.

To accommodate the move, please note:
  • The Recreation Office will be CLOSED on Friday, June 20
  • The relocation will occur on Friday, June 20, following the last day of school at Parmenter on June 18
All programs and services will continue without interruption:
  • Pre-School Summer Camp will begin as scheduled on Monday, June 23 at Parmenter
  • King Street Summer Camp will also begin June 23 at King Street Memorial Park
  • The gym at 275 Beaver Street will remain open for select programming

Due to the wet weather the contractor will need to work on Saturday 5/24/25 between 7am to 4pm.  Thus the same closure that has been in place this week will also be in place on Saturday 5/24 from 7am to 4pm.

Updates to Beaver St. Interceptor Project for Week of May 19 - 23, 2025

Monday (5/19) through Friday (5/23):

BEAVER STREET ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE!!
Starting Monday (5/19),  Beaver Street from RT. 140 (West Central Street) to the Franklin Recreation Center will be closed.  The road closure will be from 7am to 4pm Monday thru Friday.

Those needing to access 242 to 290 Beaver Street will be able to use Rt. 140 only. This includes access to Franklin Glass, Panera Fresh Dough Facility and Franklin Recreation.

Then on Tuesday (5/27), this same closure will take place but will be 24 hours a day thru Friday (5/30) at 4pm. The 24/7 closure is needed to complete the installation of the sewer main under the MBTA tracks.  

The contractor will also be working off the road at 260 Fisher Street installing the next section of sewer main under the train tracks. This work will be occurring between 7am and 4pm Monday (5/19) until Thursday (5/22). No traffic impacts are expected.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with construction of the exterior building structure.

Updates to Beaver St. Interceptor Project: Grove St Closed at MBTA tracks week of 5/5 to 5/9

GROVE STREET ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE!!

Starting Monday (5/5) Grove Street will be closed at the MBTA train tracks between the hours of 7 AM and 4 PM.  Then on Tuesday (5/6) starting at 7 AM the area will be closed 24 hours a day until Friday (5/9).  This full time closure is needed for the installation of the sewer main under the train tracks.

Traffic turning onto Grove St from Rt. 140 will be detoured over to Beaver Street via Rt. 140. Please follow posted detour signs for directions. Access to all businesses and properties on Grove Street between Forge Hill Road and Rt. 140 will be open to local traffic only. 

The contractor will also be working off the road at 38 Pond Street, Franklin Village Mall and at 260 Fisher Street. This work will happen throughout the week and limited to no traffic impacts are expected.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with preparation for the masons to be onsite to construct the exterior building structure.

Over on Pond Street, the construction crew will continue conducting the jack and bore trenchless installation of the new sewer under Rte. 140. The work will be occurring off the road at 38 Pond St. and within the Franklin Village Mall area. No traffic impacts are expected.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with removal of the excavation support.  This process involves vibration and will be noisy.  The Franklin Recreation Center will be working offsite during the day next week.  Please reach out to them for any program modifications that will be occurring.

Monday (4/14) through Friday (4/18): 
The Contractor will be excavating on Grove Street for the next round of jack and bore trenchless installation work.  During this time, Grove St. will be closed at the MBTA train tracks between the hours of 7 AM--4PM. Traffic turning onto Grove St from Rt. 140 will be detoured over to Beaver Street via Rt. 140. Please follow posted detour signs for directions.

Monday (4/7) through Friday (4/11): The construction crew will be conducting the jack and bore trenchless installation of the new sewer under Rte. 140. The work will be occurring off the road at 38 Pond St. and within the Franklin Village Mall area. No traffic impacts are expected.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with excavation of the launching chamber, civil work within the site, and mechanical work within the pump room.

Looking ahead to the week of April 14th, the contractor is anticipating being on Grove St. During this time, Grove St. will be closed at the MBTA train tracks between the hours of 7 AM -- 4 PM. Traffic turning onto Grove St from Rt. 140 will be detoured over to Beaver Street via Rt. 140. Please follow posted detour signs for directions.

Updates to Beaver St. Interceptor Project: Construction scheudule for week of March 31 - April 4

Monday (3/31) through Friday (4/4): The construction crew will be conducting the jack and bore trenchless installation of the new sewer under Rte. 140. The work will be occurring off the road at 38 Pond St. and within the Franklin Village Mall area. No traffic impacts are expected.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with excavation of the launching chamber, civil work within the site, and mechanical work within the pump room. On Friday April 4th, the delivery and setting of the launching chamber will take place. No traffic impacts are expected but access to the Franklin Recreation building will be limited.

At the Franklin Recreation Center, the construction of the new Beaver Street Interceptor Pump Station will continue with removal of formwork, damp proofing of the concrete and backfilling of the structure. Trench support sheets will be removed as well, this operation will produce a high level of noise in the area, residents are advised that this is typical of the work being performed and not a cause for concern.

Monday (1/20) - Friday (1/24): Depending on contractor availability and weather there is the potential that Grove Street will be closed at the MBTA train tracks between the hours of 7am - 4pm. Traffic turning onto Grove Street from Rt. 140 will be detoured over to Beaver Street via Rt. 140. Please follow posted detour signs for directions.
