Baseball = Franklin, 8 @ Sharon, 7 – Final

With a slight 4-3 edge going into the seventh, Franklin scored four runs, highlighted by a two-out RBI from Owen Pennini and a two-out, two-run single from Ryan Connelly. "Franklin senior Izzy Trull has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for May 12 through May 18. Trull is the 35th athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2024-25 school year and eighth in the spring season.
Trull won all three of her singles matches this week, helping Franklin to a perfect 3-0 week and keeping the Panthers in the mix for the Kelley-Rex division title going into the final week of the regular season. Franklin is just a game behind league-leading Sharon with the teams scheduled to close out the season on Wednesday afternoon.
“Izzy was amazing last week going 3-0 in three days,” said Franklin head coach Bob Pingeton. “I thought she played her best match of the year and possibly career on senior night against Taunton, winning a second set in a tiebreaker after losing first set. More impressively she came back after that two hour match and beat Sharon the next day. She is such a great competitor and one of the few players who can adjust their game mid-match to overcome an opponent.”

Softball = Milford, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
– Milford got a big double play in the bottom of the seventh inning to cancel out the potential tying run, securing a 3-2 win over Franklin for its third win in as many days. It was a tight game throughout with the host Panthers taking the first lead of the game in the bottom of the second on a two-out single from Brooke Bonetti. Boys Lacrosse = Franklin, 4 @ King Philip, 11 – Final
"All season, Franklin has been a second half team. The Panthers rallied for league wins at both Sharon and Mansfield when trailing by multiple goals at halftime, so going into the break down three goals in Monday afternoon’s Kelley-Rex showdown at Macktaz Field was not an uncommon situation.
Franklin, which entered Monday with a 59-game league win streak and having already clinched a share of a 12th straight Hock title, scored twice and cut the lead to two midway through the third quarter. It felt like the tide had turned to the visitors. The Panthers seemed poised for yet another comeback.
King Philip answered the punch and regained control. The Warriors scored a pair of goals before the end of the third quarter, locked down on defense again, closed the game with a 6-1 run, and pulled away for an 11-4 win.
It was the first time anyone in the Hock had beaten Franklin since 2018 (59 straight games) and the first win for KP against its rival since April 2014, which was also the last time the two shared the Kelley-Rex crown."

"The Hockomock League keeps lining them up, and Franklin keeps knocking ‘em down.
The Panthers completed another undefeated league campaign — their 12th in a row — following a comfortable 13-6 win over King Philip, which entered the game with a chance to earn a share of the title with just one league loss to its name.
Franklin’s undefeated league streak will continue into next season, now at 133 straight Hock wins dating back to the 2012 season.
Six different Panthers found the back of the net with freshman Clara Blongastainer leading the way with a game-high five goals. "

Attleboro, 5 @ Franklin, 6 – Final
– Franklin sophomore Cal McKenna escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth to halt Attleboro’s comeback bid and didn’t let the Bombardiers get a sniff at a rally the rest of the way as the Panthers earned a big 6-5 win. Franklin stormed out to a lead with a five-run first inning, taking a 6-2 advantage into the fifth inning. The Bombardiers rallied in the fifth to close the gap as Kelan Jones (2-for-3, three RBI) smacked a two-run single and Aidan Landers plated a run with a sac fly to make it 6-5. After a walk re-loaded the bases, McKenna (2.2 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 3K) got a big strikeout to end the frame. He went on to retire the side in both the top of the sixth and seventh innings to complete the save. Franklin only had one hit in the entire game but took advantage of 10 walks and some aggressive base running to build its lead. Zach Winer had the lone hit for the Panthers and had an RBI and a run scored. Patrick Luizzi and Cole Sidwell also had an RBI for the Panthers.

Callie Joyce had a standout game defensively for the Panthers in front of Maisie Streeseman (seven saves).
Josh Perry, HockomockSports.com Managing Editor, provides the game recap:
"When Lola Ronayne came to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning in Wednesday afternoon’s game against Franklin, there was an air of inevitability about what was about to happen next. Attleboro’s sophomore slugger had already tied the program record for home runs in a season the inning before and, with two runners on base and one out, the Panthers were forced to pitch to her again.
Ronayne got a pitch she liked and didn’t miss. She crushed a line drive that sailed over the fence in left center, opening up a seven-run lead for the Bombardiers, and setting a new season-best with her 13th homer of the spring (breaking the previous record set by McKenzie Bergdoll in 2019).
Attleboro took advantage of Ronayne’s big day (3-for-4, two home runs, three runs, and five RBI), bouncing back from a tough loss to league leader Taunton less than 24 hours earlier to beat Franklin 9-4 and sweep the season series."
– Franklin all three singles matches and took one more point from doubles to return home from Attleboro with a 4-1 win in a match that was played in pro sets. Attleboro senior Hayden Crowley and junior Connor Houle grabbed an 8-5 win at first doubles.
