Pour Richard's countdown to transition begins

via Ann Williams, owner operator of Pour Richard's

"I got into this business because I love wine. And people. Specifically, I love matching up people I like with wines I like. One of the best ways to do that is to open bottles of wine and let people taste for themselves, because there is no better way to take someone out of their 'comfort zone' and get them to try something new.

When I envisioned the store, I thought I'd spend time tasting with suppliers (friends), to find products that I'd then sell to customers (friends). I thought I'd throw fun tastings and parties. And for 11+ years, I did exactly that. What I did not ever want to do: spend every waking moment talking to- or attempting to talk to- town officials. Sadly, that is exactly how I spent the last several months. Thankfully, we're done with all that.

Pour Richard's countdown to transition begins
countdown to transition begins
I am leaving Pour Richard's in the best of hands. I promise you, you will not be disappointed in this transition. I'm not going to disappear just yet, but we are beginning a (long) countdown. For our last few months, we can go back to the way things are supposed to be: a store full of fun products and fun people.

Fun events. Fun tastings. First off, we have Turn the Page: Introducing Corey B, where you can get a glimpse of the future of Pour Richard's. Then we have an All-Portugal event, with Tony & Augusto. Another 'Conversations' tasting, with Brendan Ferguson. And one with Matt Belanger. An Italian thing I'm plotting with George. Maybe a Pennywise, if I can fit it in? And one last blowout anniversary party (12!), scheduled for Saturday, Nov 16.

If my time here were a fireworks show, these next several weeks are the grand finale. Stay tuned; we intend to exit in high style."

Recycle Your Beer Carriers And Corks at Franklin Liquors

"It’s estimated* that at least 10 million new plastic can carriers are used annually by breweries in Massachusetts, with just 10% of them being collected and re-used, and less than 2% of them ever getting recycled.  As a result, the amount of plastic beer packaging waste ending up in landfills each year is enough to fill any of the state’s largest breweries with discarded carriers rather than beer.

Now you can bring them to Franklin Liquors to be reused by local breweries!"

Yes, a local answer to the issue raised in 2021.    https://www.franklinmatters.org/2021/05/did-you-know-that-plastic-beer-carriers.html

State Representative Roy: What's happening - September 2021 Newsletter

Logo

Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who attended my event on September 8 in Franklin. It was an amazing evening and I am so grateful we could all reconnect in person. It was a treat turning 60 with so many of you present. You can view photos from the night by clicking here.

I have some people that I need to thank for all their efforts and support. Thanks to the whole team at La Cantina Winery for hosting us at their beautiful outdoor space. I also want to thank the team at The Rome Restaurant for providing, as always, such delicious food.

I would also like to thank Dr. Michael Walker-Jones, Jennifer Knight, Tom Mercer, Mike Doherty, Representative Mike Soter, Congressman Jake Auchincloss, and Majority Leader Claire Cronin for giving such thoughtful and kind remarks. I am honored and humbled by their friendship and support over the years.

If you haven't had a chance to donate towards the event yet, and you want to support our 2022 campaign, you can do so by clicking here.

Thank you all again for coming. I couldn't have spent my 60th birthday with better people. I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Jeff

Energy/recycling event in Franklin

We had a very successful Recycling and Energy Event in Franklin. Over 300 cars were served and over 100 dehumidifiers were delivered in exchange for $30 and a rebate on a new purchase. The program typically brings in 1,600 dehumidifiers annually across the state, and we did 100 in just one day.

We also collected four truckloads of furniture for Habitat for Humanity and two truckloads of electronics for recycling. And we had folks from Eversource and Mass Save sign up several customers for energy savings repairs in their homes.

It was a great way to help fight climate change and reduce energy costs. Many thanks to Fred Cullen at Green Team Junk Removal, Marcie Rappa, National Grid, EverSource, MassSave, Habitat for Humanity, and the Town of Franklin for helping put it all together and make it a success.

And thank you to the residents for helping save the planet by showing up and turning in your unused goods and and giving them new life.
