This session of the radio show shares the Town of Franklin Board of Health Meeting held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Quick Recap:
Board of health meeting about to begin. All 3 board members present today for this session. Along with the Health Dept staff
Approval of minutes for prior meetings, minor adjustments to one item on dementia experience moved as amended, second, passes 2-0-1 ( 1 abstained)
Check on tobacco regulations does what we did still apply, as it may be some of the state regs don't work on the local level, to be clarified. If needed to be changed, then a process with public hearing, etc. would be required
Health fair next Weds (4/9) at the Library, at least 20 vendors, 3:30 to 5:00 PM
Healthy brain initiative underway, nutrition, brain injury (bike safety), fall risks, to be held at the Senior Center, blood pressure tests available, puzzles, etc. date June 11, 3 to 5 PM
Possible training via FEMA and U of Tennessee, B Sweet to share info with the dept.
The laptop running the session virtually just powered off, low battery, didn't have anyone connected remotely so no issue there, manual audio recording still capturing the session
MA measles vaccine status is really high compared to elsewhere. It is airborne and has a long timeline before showing symptoms
May 14 hospital Senior expo, scheduling the bus from Franklin
Sunscreen at pools?
Since CDC/FDA cutting comms on barbeque safety, can the health dept do something? Yes, can update the flyers, etc.
Does the ventilator systems in town buildings protect against measles as it is airborne? Maybe, checking with Facilities
With the actions of the health dept, there is less for the Board to do, thanks it is appreciated!!!
Motion to adjourn passes, 3-0
