Franklin High School to Host Spring Pops Concert on May 13

Superintendent Lucas Giguere and Director of Visual & Performing Arts Diane Plouffe are pleased to announce that Franklin Public Schools will host its annual Spring Pops Concert next month, showcasing the talents of student musicians across multiple ensembles.

FHS to Host Spring Pops Concert on May 13
The concert will be held on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in the Franklin High School auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

This year's Spring Pops Concert will feature a side-by-side performance with Franklin's 8th-grade musicians, offering a unique opportunity for middle school students to perform alongside the high school ensembles.

The evening will include performances by the Franklin High School Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, String Orchestra and Chorus, delivering a wide range of musical selections sure to entertain audiences of all ages.

Admission is free, and the concert is open to the public. However, the Franklin Music Boosters graciously accept donations at the door. Donations from the Pops Concert help students who need financial assistance to travel with the music department.

"We're excited to continue the tradition of our Spring Pops Concert, especially the opportunity it provides for our incoming freshmen to collaborate with our high school musicians," said Director Plouffe. "It's a special night that celebrates the musical growth of our students and builds a strong sense of community within our performing arts programs."

Community members, families and friends are encouraged to attend and support Franklin's young musicians in this culminating celebration of the school year.

"This concert highlights the incredible talent and dedication of our students and music educators," said Superintendent Giguere. "It's an event we look forward to each year, and we're proud to share it with our families and community."

Franklin TV: Spring Happens

It can sneak up on you, and that’s okay.

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 03/30/2025

Last Wednesday I went to town hall to test the connectivity between our two TV control systems for live meetings. We were expecting a significant overflow crowd in chambers. The 3rd floor training room cameras, projection and so on would enable the additional crowds to converse with the Town Council members. With everything in order, satisfied and preoccupied, I left for the studio.

As I left the building I saw –

Spring! The moment was a reminder that every now and then it’s good to pause – – – be immersed in the present – and take in that quietly fulgent joy of just being.

And – as always –

Thank you for watching.
Thank you for listening to wfpr●fm.
And staying informed at Franklin●news.

Hockomock League: Statement on Spring Sports Spectators

The Hockomock League is excited to launch the Spring 2021 Athletic Experience, which includes all of its traditional programs. We are excited to also offer Wrestling and Competitive Cheer to our Spring schedules of events. We are proud to state that “no program was left behind” due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the League has done throughout the 2020-2021 school year, we have closely followed the MA Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) guidelines for athletic events for both our participants and our spectators, to ensure the safest possible conditions for all involved. We are pleased to put forth the following policies on spectators for our Spring INDOOR and OUTDOOR events:

INDOOR EVENTS: (Boys Volleyball, Competitive Cheer, and Wrestling)

The League will remain consistent with its indoor policies adopted during the Fall 2 season. For each HOME participant, two immediate adult family members and siblings are permitted to attend an event. Additionally 2 family members of AWAY participants may attend an event. Contact tracing will remain in effect and family check-in lists will be utilized at the indoor venue.

OUTDOOR EVENTS: (Lacrosse, Track & Field, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Unified Track)
As the recently amended EEA guidelines have stated, home and away spectator allowance at outdoor stadium events is capped at a maximum of 50% seating capacity at the stadium venue, with socially-distanced six-foot seating on those bleachers.

At open area venues, such as parks and ball fields, home and away spectators must wear appropriate masks or face coverings at all times, and remain socially distanced as much as possible.

The Athletic Directors will continue to monitor information as it is made available from the EEA, DESE, and our local Boards of Health. Each district has the ability to modify this policy based on its own facility limitations and/or local Board of Health restrictions. It is our goal to focus on the health and safety of our communities while safely permitting the appropriate opportunity to watch high school sports in person.
