Nick Strong Foundation to directly fund groundbreaking research for germ cell tumors.

We are beyond excited to announce groundbreaking research, being conducted by the Jackson Laboratories, that could potentially find treatments for germ cell tumors. Pediatric oncologist Dr. Ching Lau is a professor at the lab, which is a nonprofit biomedical institution committed to basic research discoveries that will change the landscape of cancer detection and care. Dr. Lau and his lab team have developed a first of its kind assay that can accurately diagnose germ cell tumors using spinal fluid obtained from a less invasive procedure such as a spinal tap.  The Nick Strong Foundation has decided to directly fund these tests that cost about $2,000 per test.  They have about 50 samples ready to test and our goal is to fund these samples and keep going from there! We are honored to be a part of this research in Nick’s memory.

Proceeds from your participation in our upcoming events (The Shed event, our first Golf Tournament) will go directly towards this funding -  THANK YOU!!!

"Our goal through this year’s tournament is to support a research facility that is testing a robust liquid biopsy platform for diagnosing brain tumors, especially for Germ Cell Tumors.

The cost for each sample is around $1800. They have around 50 cases/samples they need to test in the coming months.  Nick Strong Foundation is excited about this new partnership with more information to come in the next few months."

Milford Daily News: "Franklin lacrosse hosts 'Nick Gaspar Night'"

"Around 6:40 PM on Monday, a line of 21 police cars slowly drove onto the track at Pisini Stadium.

They weren’t there for any trouble, however. They were part of a pregame ceremony for a special young man.

In the middle of the motorcade was a gray SUV driven by Tim Gaspar. Gaspar’s 15-year old son, Nick, a freshman at Franklin High, and the rest of the Gaspar family were also in the car. The car circled around the track before coming to a stop on the far sideline at the 50-yard line.

That’s when the Gaspar family exited the vehicle before Nick walked out to midfield, where he was greeted by the Franklin varsity and JV boys lacrosse captains as well as a bunch of Franklin youngsters. He was then presented with a new stick with a custom blue head, the same color as his favorite college basketball team: University of North Carolina."
