"Over the weekend, FHS’ Drama Club put on their performance of Gathering Blue at the annual Drama Fest, held this year at Attleboro High School.
The day started at 7 in the morning when FHS drama club members boarded the bus. Although all were exhausted, cast and crew were nervous and excited to perform the first show of the day.
Once they arrived at the high school, it was immediately time to get into costumes and makeup. An hour later the FHS students of drama club had been transformed into post-apocalyptic characters."

"On Wednesday December 21st and Thursday December 22nd, FHS drama club will be performing two one-act plays, “The Giver” and “Gathering Blue”. Both plays are set in dystopian societies with “Gathering Blue” being the sequel to “The Giver”. This week I spoke to the cast to get their insight on both plays.
When asked about her experience in “The Giver”, Riley Halliday, who plays Fiona, said, “it has been an all around great experience, I love working with a smaller cast because we have all become very close”. Melissa Reinerston who plays Kira in “Gathering Blue” described the two separate plays as being “…especially challenging…because rehearsals felt divided, but both shows have come together really well”.Continue reading the article online
The shows are $5 dollars for students and $12 for adults and will be performed in the FHS auditorium at 7 o’clock.

The Franklin High School drama club has moved on to the semi-finals at a drama festival with their play Rebel Without A Cause.
The Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild holds a festival for high school plays every year, and this year it was held at Attleboro High School on Saturday, Feb. 28. During the festival, Franklin High School’s drama club was chosen along with three other schools to move on to the semifinal round.
Franklin’s Drama Club won a spot at the Dramafest semifinals for the first time in 10 years for its production of Rebel Without a Cause last Sunday.
Dramafest is an annual threatre competition hosted by the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild featuring one-act plays from various local high schools.

Meet the Melodic Minors, FHS’s very own boys a cappella group!
The group was started this year by senior Nate Wild and sophomore Gabe DeBenedict because they wanted to do a cappella for their outside-of-school chorus honors requirement. Alongside Gabe and Nate are members Zach Tassinari (senior), Andrew Rizoli (junior), Kevin Buckley, Ben Cohn, and Dan Schratz (freshman).
This year, the FHS Drama Club will be performing Rebel Without A Cause on December 17 and 18.
Mrs. Waters, the director of the production, is doing a great job leading the club as she does every year.
Franklin’s production is based off the original film, which was written and directed by Nicholas Ray in 1955 and starred James Dean. The overall story involves one main character, Jim Stark, who moves to Los Angeles. From there, the angsty 17 year-old deals with typical teenage struggles from the time period, such as popularity and fitting in.
