Franklin TV: Graduation(s)

Tri-County & Franklin High

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 06/08/2025

On Thursday it was Tri-County’s big night. Then, next night, Franklin High. Again, we worked with Wrentham Cable8 and NorthTV to assemble crew and connections to the entire Tri-County region of 11 cities and towns. Then, next day, we were on the Panther football field for Franklin High. In years past the prep and installation of cameras and gear could take two days. We’ve refined the technology and our approach to ‘big events’ technical prep/setup to take under 4 hours.

Franklin TV: Graduation(s)
Franklin TV: Graduation(s)

These days it also ‘takes a village’ to deliver large event coverage. Thanks go out to our crew(s) for making it all happen: Chris Flynn, Chris Leverone, Meredith Roberts, Taylor Tremblay, Chris Cadorette, Jared Ware, Liz Harkins, Brian McCoy, Marc Berman. Willian Stewart, Colin Boisvert.

Across the various Town Services: DPW, Building Management, Police, etc. The attitude is always “Let’s make it happen for the kids’. Need that mountain moved?

No problem. Where would you like it placed, and when do you need it there?

And – as always –
Thank you for watching

Poetry Foundation: Rudyard Kipling "If"

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
Poetry Foundation: Rudyard Kipling "If"
Poetry Foundation: Rudyard Kipling "If"
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Beginning July 1 - "Carry In, Carry out" for summer Recreational programs

"Good Morning,
I wanted to share an important update with all youth sports groups regarding a new policy from the Department of Public Works (DPW) that will take effect on July 1st (FY2026).
Due to the recent failed override vote, the DPW’s operational budget has been reduced by $463,329. As a result, they will be forced to eliminate all summer help and significantly scale back trash and recycling services at town fields and facilities.
Beginning July 1, all coaches, parents, and players must follow a “Carry In – Carry Out” policy for all trash and recyclables. Please help us spread the word and ensure that everyone participating in youth sports is aware of this change.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Boston Globe: "Attorney General Andrea Campbell issued guidance on Thursday for Massachusetts immigrants and their supporters"

"Attorney General Andrea Campbell issued guidance on Thursday for Massachusetts immigrants and their supporters on how to respond to federal immigration officials, as arrests have sharply increased in the state.

The guidance addresses questions her office has received about ICE’s jurisdiction, the rights of people being targeted, what bystanders are allowed to do, and whether local law enforcement can cooperate with federal officials.
Todd Lyons, acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, addressed the media on June 2. Suzanne Kreiter/Globe Staff

It comes as Campbell has said there is little she or other local politicians can do to stop the ICE arrests taking place under the Trump administration.

“From arresting parents in front of their children to pulling people who present no public safety threat out of their cars in broad daylight, the aggressive ICE tactics we’re seeing across the Commonwealth do not protect the public, and instead spread fear,” Campbell said in a statement. “In releasing this guidance, I strongly encourage everyone to inform themselves of their rights when they see immigration officers in their communities.”

Boston Globe: "Towns lose their latest challenge to controversial state housing law"

"A Superior Court judge Friday dismissed a group of lawsuits from nine Eastern Massachusetts communities over a controversial state housing law that mandates cities and towns with access to the MBTA make it easier to build multifamily housing.

The lawsuits — filed by the towns of Duxbury, Hamilton, Hanson, Holden, Marshfield, Middleton, Wenham, Weston, and Wrentham — sought relief from the MBTA Communities Act on the grounds that it constitutes an “unfunded mandate,” and that more multifamily development would strain their local infrastructure like roads and sewer systems.

Judge Mark Gildea rejected the towns’ argument as “speculative,” saying they did not provide concrete examples of the costs multifamily housing would inflict on them.

“The Municipalities have neither pled specific costs for anticipated infrastructure costs, nor provided any specific timeline for anticipated construction projects,” Gildea wrote in the ruling. “Instead, the only allegations and averments before the court are generalized comments about large-scale issues they foresee, which are insufficient to sustain the Municipalities’ claims.”

Math problem: "Fewer people to split that bill = higher taxes for you"

Blocking new development doesn't "preserve" your town—it drains your wallet.

No new homes = no new taxpayers… but guess what does grow? School budgets, potholes, annual maintenance costs and legacy pension requirements.
