The budget deficit is upon us to figure out. We won't get help from the State. It is only us that can determine how to fund our future services and what services we do choose.

Note: only 1 of these sessions is enabled for remote participation. All will be broadcast to cable subscribbers & to YouTube but except for the session in Council Chambers March 8. If you want to say something, ask a question, share a comment, you need to be there.

LGBTQ History Month recognized Oct 22 at First Universalist Society in Franklin

In recognition of October as LGBTQ history month, First Universalist Society in Franklin is pleased to invite all to two opportunities on Sunday October 22, 2023 to honor LGBTQ individuals and allies alike.  

At 10:00 AM, our worship service will focus on the contributions of LGBTQ folk to our religious tradition and society at large. Then from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM we will view a movie described as a teen romance/comedy. This sweet movie explores teen relationships, connections and the nature of love. Following the 1 hour and 44 minute movie there will be an opportunity for discussion and conversation.

First Universalist Society in Franklin is located at 262 Chestnut Street, Franklin.

FM #323 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 323 in the series. 

This is a special session as we have a ‘welcome’ conversation with the new FHS principal Josh Hanna. I am joined by Pandora Carlucci and Jay Horrigan for this special ‘radio gang’ interview. Our conversation was conducted via conference bridge to adhere to the ‘social distancing’ requirements of this pandemic period.

We have a wide ranging conversation to get to know Josh and how he feels about his new role at Franklin High School. The pandemic has been challenging but he prepared for this role as principal and loves the high school experience.

Welcome Diane Field!

Let's welcome Diane Field as a contributor to Franklin Matters! Diane will be doing reporting on the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals to provide some coverage for us in the planning and development area. She'll attend some meetings in person and report on others from the video broadcast.


Who is Diane?

Diane first fell in love with the town after taking a job with Putnam Investments 13 years ago. After several years of city living, she began looking for a town in which to start a family with her new husband. She was drawn back to Franklin, which was close enough to family in Rhode Island while being commutable to Boston for work. A resident since 2005, she loves the family friendly atmosphere and rich history of the town, and is interested in being more active in the community. Of special interest is land conservation and keeping the town beautiful. Diane has since left her corporate marketing background behind and is a stay at home Mom to her 3-year old son, Elijah. Other interests include gardening, food and wine, and animal welfare - most notably retired racing greyhound rescue and adoption

Look for Diane's first post reporting on the Taco Bell/Wendy's proposal for 505 W Central St.
