ALSO, NOTE THESE CHANGES TO DATES OF UPCOMING MEETINGS. We typically meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. However, this month we will also meet on the 5th Thursday, June 29, and we will NOT meet in July.

This week we will continue to discuss the status and action plans for our priority campaigns, Make Polluters Pay and Emissions Free Buildings. 

These campaigns focus on legislation here in Massachusetts. 350 Mass and our members are also actively engaged in a national campaign to pressure those banks that finance the fossil fuel industry and expansion of its coal, oil and gas operations. Our Climate Courage working group organizes local activities, including these two upcoming events.

• Saturday, June 17, 11:00 a.m.  A rally in Framingham protesting Chase Bank's anti-climate lending practices. Information and registration here.     
• Thursday, June 22, 6:00 p.m.  Protest in Boston at Chase's Corporate Challenge race. Information and registration here.

350 Mass Greater Franklin Node, Special Meeting: Drop the Dirty Banks. Thursday, March 30, 7 PM

Dear friends:

Please read this notice about a special educational Zoom meeting presented by the 350 Mass Greater Franklin Node, Thursday, March 30, at 7:00 PM. 

Drop the Dirty Banks!

Banks are using our money and credit cards to bankroll the climate crisis, investing in oil drilling, pipelines, and fracking wells that cause global warming. The large banks—Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and CitiBank— are the worst violators. What about smaller banks? What can we do?

Ingrid Geis, from the 350 Mass Stop & Steer the Money Working Group which studies this issue, will share her suggestions in a 20-minute presentation and then answer your questions. Ingrid will discuss how to identify which banks are "dirty" and which are not, and tell us what we can do as individual consumers and as organized groups of citizens.

National Day of Action to Discredit Bad Banks. Tuesday, March 21 (3.21.23):  Activists nationwide are urging customers to move their money away from the "Big Bad Banks" that do most of the lending to fossil fuel corporations. Join 350 Mass' direct action wing Climate Courage for a noon visit to Chase Bank downtown, attack a giant credit card with a chainsaw to the music of a brass band, and inform the public about how banks are funding the climate crisis. Special Greater Franklin Node Meeting (Zoom), Thursday, March 30, 7:00 PM. Hold that date for a presentation and discussion led by Ingrid Geis, 350 Mass member and chair of our Stop and Steer the Money Working Group. The goal is to challenge and disrupt the financial underpinnings of the fossil fuel industry, notably from banks and insurance companies. We need to keep up the protests following the National Day of Action on 3.21.23. Ingrid will discuss how to identify which banks are "dirty" and which are not, what we can do as individual consumers, and examples of actions by groups of citizens.  Whether you've attended our meetings or not, this is a good opportunity to learn about 350 Mass in general and this important initiative in particular. Please save the date. We will send out the Zoom link later this month.
