Lyon Landscape and Nursery: pick and cut your Christmas tree

"I would like to say thank you to all the folks who came to the first annual Xmas tree sale at our farm. The sale exceeded my expectations. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Unfortunately, we have sold out of all our trees for this year.
Next year we will have a larger selection of taller and fuller trees. Best of luck in the New Year."
-Alex Lyon, Lyon Landscape Nursery Inc.
updated Dec 2, 2018

"After 7 years of planting, watering, fertilizing, and mowing, our first crop of Frasier Fir Christmas trees are ready for harvest. I invite all friends, family, and valued customers who have supported my Landscape Contracting business over the years to stop by for a locally grown organic Christmas tree.

We will be open the next (3) weekends 10 AM - 4 PM starting today. We are located at 250 Bent Street, Franklin MA.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and all the best in 2019!"

“There’s something for everyone”

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The days of strolling through downtown with a hot chocolate during the Holiday Stroll are over, but a new tradition is making its way to the top of the tree.
Franklin is taking a new look at the way it celebrates Christmas. The consensus was that the celebration didn’t go on for long enough.
That’s why this year, with the guidance of the Downtown Partnership, town businesses grouped together to create a four-day celebration: Franklin Holiday Happenings.
“We were looking at opportunities to include more businesses,” said Lisa Piana, Executive Director of the Downtown Partnership. “The Holiday Stroll was one evening, and that didn’t fit everyone’s schedule.”

A Celtic Christmas with Robbie O'Connell and Rose Clancy Dec 10

A Celtic Christmas Celebration featuring
Robbie O'Connell and Rose Clancy

Dec 10th 8PM $25

The Circle of Friends Coffeehouse presents a Celtic Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 10th at 8PM featuring Robbie O'Connell and Rose Clancy. Together they create a delightful musical tapestry to celebrate the season.  The music has a distinct Celtic flavor and extends from the little known Kilmore carols of Wexford to the Irish-American vaudeville stage. They explore both the Christian and Pagan traditions surrounding the Winter Solstice in a mixture of songs and instrumental pieces that create a delightful musical tapestry to celebrate the season.

Robbie O'Connell was born in Waterford, Ireland and grew up in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary. A nephew of the Clancy Brothers, he began touring with his uncles in 1977 and recorded 3 albums with them. In 1979 he moved to Franklin, Massachusetts. He has also toured extensively with Mick Moloney and Jimmy Keane, and also with Eileen Ivers and Seamus Egan in the Green Fields of America.  In 1992 he appeared at Carnegie Hall with the Clancy Brothers and was also seen by an estimated 500 million people worldwide on the telecast of a live tribute to Bob Dylan at Madison Square Garden, a performance which Rolling Stone magazine described as "breathtaking". http://www.robbieoconnell.com/

Fiddler Rose Clancy was born in New York into a musical family hailing from County Armagh, Ireland, an area immersed in traditional Irish music. Rose's musical career began at an early age performing with her family's musical group, The Clancy Tradition. Rose learned traditional music from her father, Eugene Clancy of the Irish Ramblers, in the "at my father's knee" tradition.
