When local residents hit the ballot box on Tuesday, they will all be asked to vote for their choice of president and U.S. senator. Voters in the Massachusetts 4th Middlesex Congressional District will be asked to choose between Democrat Joe Kennedy, Republican Sean Bielat and independent David Rosa to take the U.S. representative seat that is currently being held by Barney Frank.

Campaign donations

An article from the MetroWest Daily News last week that flew under the radar mentions the campaign funds for the 10th Norfolk District seat up for election. Thanks to an eagle eyed reader for finding it.

A five-way battle in Franklin to fill the 10th Norfolk seat, which Rep. James Vallee abruptly vacated in June, has raised the most money of any MetroWest or Milford area House race. 

The five candidates so far have raised $69,000 total, according to the state campaign finance website, which lists information on fundraising. 

Franklin Democrat Peter Padula has the most, $23,000. Republican Richard Eustis has the least, $5,800.

Stolle Seeks to Represent Franklin and Precincts 2, 3, and 4 in Medway

FRANKLIN—The Massachusetts House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. and thirteen members of Massachusetts House of Republican Caucus have announced their official endorsement of Stolle Singleton for the open State Representative seat in the 10^th Norfolk district. The district is comprised of Franklin and Precincts 2, 3, and 4 in Medway. "I am honored to receive the endorsement of fourteen outstanding Republican Legislators, whom I have had the privilege of working with as a policy analyst in the State House," Stolle Singleton said. “Americans need us to solve problems"

Part of Franklin will be interested in the 4th District candidates and part will be interested in the 3rd District.

The three are vying for the Republican nomination to fill the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat. Frank announced in November that he is retiring after more than three decades in Congress, citing the newly reconfigured district. Bielat lost to Frank in 2010 by an 11-point margin. 

The winner of the Republican primary will likely face off against Brookline resident Joe Kennedy III. Kennedy, the son of former U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy II and grandson of the late Robert Kennedy, has shown strong fundraising capabilities— raking in $1.3 million last quarter— and pundits have said he’ll be hard to beat. 

Newton engineer Herb Robinson is also running for the seat as a Democrat, but his campaign hasn’t picked up momentum and has just $997 cash on hand.

Sens. Spilka, Moore, Ross currently unopposed in fall election

The campaign contest will be in the Norfolk 10th with five candidates in two parties running for the primary Sep 6 to find out who will face off on Nov 8th.

Election 2012: Jeff Roy Launches Campaign

Over 100 people gathered at the Franklin Elks on Tuesday to help Jeff Roy launch his campaign for the 10th Norfolk District. Chris Feeley, Paul Ravich, and Michael Doherty spoke in turn to introduce Jeff and provide some context for their support of Jeff in this effort.

Jeff talked of his year studying law at DePaul University in Chicago and how the "ticket to getting home was working hard". Each of the introductions also referenced Jeff's hard work in multiple areas.

He told the story of a college visit with one of his daughters and being stopped by a statue on one campus that was engraved "What are you doing for justice?" His work on this campaign will be to help answer that question. A recent speech provides a more complete version of the story and its impact.

Sparked by the loss of a couple of friends to cancer, he turned to the PanMass Challenge as "a way to channel those feelings, that energy, to do something good to fight cancer."

Jeff went on to highlight the three areas of focus for his campaign: jobs and the economy, quality education, and bringing civility back to government. He called for those gathered to "come together, work together to bring about a better life for us in MA."
