Franklin Newcomers and Friends: Game Night - Feb 7

Come join your Franklin friends and neighbors at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends monthly meeting. Meet us upstairs at "3" Restaurant on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:30. Take a break from the cold and warm up at our Game Night. It’s one of our favorite and more social events.

Reminder: Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club: Brenda Reed - Nov 8

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club will meet on Wednesday, November 8. We are pleased to host as our speaker, Brenda Reed, currently the Director for Lifelong Community Learning in Franklin. Reed is a former chief executive for the New England Press Association, a former public servant – both elected and appointed – a former founder and co-owner of a successful weekly newspaper, and a former Attleboro mayor and School Committee member.

In those positions Reed has been at the intersection of public policy and business management. She understands the crucial importance of good organization, setting priorities, feasible strategies, attention to detail, the need to collaborate successfully with staff team members, volunteers, and the public.

She will be speaking about the Lifelong Community Learning programs and the opportunities for partnership. Lifelong Community Learning is a program of the Franklin Public Schools Lifelong Learning Institute and is dedicated to providing quality learning experiences for residents in the Town of Franklin and surrounding communities.

After spending most of the week out of Franklin on business, my Saturday morning walk got me caught up on some of what was happening or had happened while I was away. 

Join me as I walk downtown and then out Pleasant St to DelCarte. Starting with some close up photos of the new Horace Mann statue.

I am impressed by the level of detail shown in the statue. The coat has texture and folds just like a real coat. Amazing work!

Franklin Newcomers & Friends Club Meeting Update - March 15


Franklin School Committee Vice Chair Dr. Anne Bergen will be speaking at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club on Wednesday, March 15th. She is joining Town Administrator Jeff Nutting and Deputy Administrator Jamie Hellen. 

Come hear updates and have your questions answered about our Public Schools and our Town. We welcome you to join us at 7:30 pm at "3" Restaurant. Appetizers and beverages will be served.


Previous meeting notification

Our members will be cheering on our team at the event on Wednesday, April 12th at 6:00pm in the Horace Mann Auditorium at 224 Oak Street. It is a town-wide event open to the public. We'll resume our monthly meetings in May.

Our meetings are open to Members and Prospective Members! Non-residents in towns that do not have a Newcomers Club are welcome to join us.

Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club - March and April Meeting Changes

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club welcomes you to our next monthly meeting. On Wednesday, March 15th our Town Administrator, Jeff Nutting, will be filling us in on all that is happening in our town. Deputy Town Administrator, Jamie Hellen, will be joining him.

Reminder: Two speakers about walks in future and walks today


Just a reminder that The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club next event is this Wednesday, January 11. We are hosting two local speakers; local Author and Community Volunteer Alan Earls will update us on the Charles River Meadowlands. He will talk about the over 500 acres of open space that make this one of the great land preservation and management opportunities in our region. 

Also, local Author and Historian Marjorie Turner Hollman will introduce us to a treasure trove of outdoor recreational opportunities in our area. She has authored books highlighting easy walks and hikes in our locale. She will share her knowledge of hidden gems in our area waiting to be explored.

Franklin Newcomers and Friends: Annual Yankee Swap Party - Dec 14

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club welcomes you to our next monthly meeting. On Wednesday, December 14th we are having our Annual Yankee Swap Party. Even if this is your first time joining us, you're welcome to participate, or just come and socialize. If you choose to participate in the swap, bring a new and wrapped gift valued between $15 and $20.

Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club 43rd Annual Craft Fair - Nov 5

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club 43rd Annual Craft Fair is THIS SATURDAY! 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, at the Tri-County Regional Vocational High School in Franklin.

Our craft fair is a tradition for the Town of Franklin and several local charities benefit from the funds raised by this annual event. Admission is $3, children 12 and under are free, with a maximum charge of $10 per family. 

Start your holiday shopping and pick up some unique handmade gifts! We have over 70 artisan crafters making a variety of products - holiday items, clothing and accessories, home decor, jewelry, art, candles, specialty food, handbags, stained and painted glass, ceramics, soaps, and more. Many are from Franklin and surrounding towns, so this is a perfect "shop local" event!

We are also accepting donations of non-perishable items for the Franklin Food Pantry. Donations may be dropped off at the entrance. In addition to food, items especially needed are shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and hand soap. Please be sure to check expiration dates as the Food Pantry can not accept expired items.
