Not just for Newcomers . . . Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club Scheduled to Meet - Oct 11

Come join your Franklin friends and neighbors at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club October Meeting.

Join us Wednesday, October 11, 7:00 PM at Franklin’s local bookstore, Escape Into Fiction, 12 Main Street, Downtown Franklin. This season we will meet in October, December, February and April.

There is always time to socialize and we offer varied speakers and events at our gatherings. Light refreshments are provided. Come early to shop the Bookstore … for yourself or for gifts. There is always a wonderful selection for all ages.

We are a multi-generational, member-driven organization and are always excited to welcome new faces and new ideas. Residents of Franklin, or any surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club, are welcome to join us. In addition to our meetings, we hold fun and varied events to stay connected throughout the year.

We’re excited to announce that our 48th annual Craft Fair is set for Saturday, November 18th at Tri-County High School in Franklin. You’ll find a great selection of items for yourself, your home or for gift- giving. This popular event is an opportunity for members to volunteer and work together, help raise funds, and give back to the community.

Reminder: Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club - Meeting on May 3 - topic 'online safety'

Come join your Franklin friends and neighbors at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club May Meeting.

We typically meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month … we made a date change for this presentation. Join us on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:00 PM. Robin Putnam, Events & Outreach Manager from the MA Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, will present on online safety. The presentation will include information about her Office and what they do. It will also cover how to be safe online, whether it be on your smart device, social media or online banking, phishing emails and general protection from scams and identity theft.

Join us at Escape Into Fiction Book Store, 12 Main Street, Downtown Franklin. The presentation will start at 7 PM but feel free to come early to socialize, get some refreshments and shop.

We are a multi-generational, member-driven organization and are always excited to welcome new faces and new ideas. Residents of Franklin, or any surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club, are welcome to join us. Our monthly meetings run September through May.

Additionally, we hold fun and varied events to stay connected throughout the year.

Are you ready for the 47th Annual Franklin Newcomers Craft Fair on November 5 at Tri-County

The 47th Annual Franklin Newcomers & Friends Craft Fair is set for Sat. November 5, 2022 from 9 AM to 3 PM.

It will still be held at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School, 147 Pond St., Franklin, after taking a break following two years of COVID.

This year, the craft fair will be held at the school’s gymnasium. Plenty of space for mingling, browsing, and shopping. Enter at the left of the building instead of the front doors. Lots of parking right in front of the entrance.

This popular and well-established event features hand-crafted items from artists throughout New England. You’ll find a wonderful selection of items to give yourself or to recognize a birthday, holiday or any other special occasion.

Here’s a sample of what you can buy: home décor and housewares, jewelry,  paper crafts, pets, wood crafts, glass crafts, handbags, health and wellness products, food, holiday, art and photography, bath and body, adult and children’s clothing and accessories.

The club is accepting donations for the Franklin Food Pantry. The entry fee is $3 for people 12 years of age and older.

Franklin Newcomers & Friends Club scheduled to meet Weds, Oct 12 and listen to Stacy Cobb

This month Franklin resident Stacey Cobb of Nature's Nurse Wildlife Rehabilitation will be answering questions about her organization. She volunteers providing injured and/or orphaned wildlife a temporary safe haven, where they will have the time they need to recover and nursed back to health, before being returned to their natural environment in the wild.

Newcomers is now meeting at Escape Into Fiction at 12 Main St in Franklin at 7 PM.

We invite any resident of Franklin, or a surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club to join us. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from September through May. Additionally, we hold many fun and varied events to stay connected throughout the year.

The Newcomers are back …. with a NEW time and location!!

 

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club will be holding their monthly meetings at Escape Into Fiction at 12 Main St in Franklin. They'll be meeting earlier . . . now at 7 PM.  The first gathering of the 2022/2023 season is on Wednesday, September 14

Any resident of Franklin, or a surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club, is invited to attend. Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from September through May. Additionally, many fun and varied events are held to stay connected throughout the year.

Newcomers & Friends: Bringing Earth Day Home - Apr 20

We are pleased to announce that Lisa Mosczynski and Susan Speers, volunteers with Metacomet Land Trust, will be joining us with a program on “Bringing Earth Day Home.”  The program will introduce the conservation group, with a focus on its work to preserve open space in Franklin since 1988. Metacomet is a member-supported nonprofit which serves 15 towns and is based in Franklin. 

To mark the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day on April 22nd, Mosczynski and Speers will share a slide presentation on the group’s conservation work, education programs, and behind the scenes assistance to landowners and towns wishing to permanently preserve natural habitat. Metacomet’s local efforts include helping Franklin to connect town open space and Metacomet’s land. Metacomet is a 501-(c)-3 charity. More information can be found at www.MetacometLandTrust.org.

Not just for Newcomers: Meeting to feature Hellen and Ahern - March 23

We are pleased to announce that Jamie Hellen, Town Administrator, and Dr. Sara Ahern, School Superintendent, will be speaking at our March meeting. Our town budget, construction, commercial and residential development are just some of the topics that Jamie will address. There’s also a lot going on in the school system for Sara to discuss. There will be no shortage of topics . . . come bring your questions!  It’s an informal meeting and a great opportunity to practically have a one on one conversation with these community leaders.

We welcome you to come join your friends and neighbors at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends March Monthly Meeting.  Meet us upstairs at "3" Restaurant on Wednesday, March 23 at 7:30, one week later than our usual 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Hot and cold appetizers and beverages are provided.  No need to be a newcomer to the area . . . and no need to RSVP. 

Come join us and have fun while you make connections in your community.  We are a multi-generational club offering a wide range of activities for all ages with an emphasis on fun and camaraderie. We are a member driven organization and are always excited to welcome new faces and new ideas.
