Franklin Art Association’s Annual Spring/Summer Art Show and Sale Coming Soon!

The Franklin Art Association will hold its Annual Spring/Summer Fine Art Exhibition and Sale, "A Berry Fine Art Show," Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Rockland Trust Annex, 44 Main Street, Franklin, Massachusetts (between Rockland Trust at 58 Main Street and FSPA at 38 Main Street).

The show, which is free and open to the public, will kick off on Friday from 4-8 PM, coinciding with Franklin Downtown Partnership's Strawberry Stroll.

The Fine Art Exhibition and Sale includes works in oil, acrylic, water media, photography, pastel, charcoal, and mixed media. In addition to the exhibited works, small works and unframed art will be available for purchase.

Saturday hours are 11 AM – 7 PM with a wine reception from 4- 6 PM capped off with an awards presentation for the juried exhibit. In addition to first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons awarded, there will be a Best of Show award and attendees may vote for a "People's Choice" award.

Sunday hours are 12 Noon - 4 PM with a Raffle and People's Choice award presentation at 3 PM

"Before the end of the year, longtime community mainstay Milford National Bank is expected to close, reopening as Rockland Trust. 

The two banks announced a merger earlier this year, with Rockland Trust acquiring the 169-year-old Milford institution this fall. A final date awaits regulatory approval, but Rockland Trust Company Public Relations Marketing Manager Ellen Molle said she expects action in the fourth quarter of 2018. 

Milford National Bank, in a notice on its website, has told customers its branches will reopen as Rockland Trust branches on Nov. 19. 

“We are excited about this combination and the opportunity to provide you with outstanding banking products and services to help meet your financial goals,” the notice states."

“Everyone could use a little extra kindness, so why not do this right on Main Street in Franklin”

"Sometimes a bit of nature with a unique human touch is all it takes to lighten the day and remind people of what truly matters. 

On Main Street next to Rockland Trust Bank, a new kind of garden is growing – a Kindness Rock garden. The space is decorated with small, painted rocks. Every painted rock displays either a phrase of encouragement or a small drawing of the artist’s desire. 

A sign outside the garden encourages people to take a rock if they’re in need, and to leave one if they’d wish. 

Berry Insurance owner and coordinator of the project Kaitlyn Pintarich said she was moved by the idea after finding a small painted rock in the Franklin Town Common last winter."

Rockland Trust Family Splash Park Opens At The Bernon Family Branch YMCA

On Thursday, June 16th the Hockomock Area YMCA hosted a dedication and celebration of the Rockland Trust Family Splash Park at the Bernon Family Branch YMCA. On a beautiful sun-soaked afternoon, representatives from Rockland Trust joined Hockomock Area YMCA leadership volunteers, staff and kids christening the park highlighted by a tumultuous wave of water dropped from a huge bucket suspended 15 feet from the ground drenching kids and adults alike.

“This is a very exciting day,” exclaimed Brian Earley, chairman of the Board of Directors at the Hockomock Area YMCA. “We are so grateful for the partnership and friendship of Rockland Trust. This Splash Park will be a great addition to our YMCA, and another exciting touchpoint for the community, providing families with a place to spend quality time together.”

Jane Lundquist, executive vice president of Rockland Trust and president of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation marveled at the finished splash park and noted, “I remember that large hole in the ground back in October and look at it today! We are so proud to award a major grant to the Hockomock Area YMCA, an organization that has such an impact on the community.” At the end of her brief remarks Jane was greeted by cheers as she turned to the kids and asked “Are you ready?!”

Franklin Town Administrator Jeff Nutting thanked Rockland Trust for “this wonderful gift to the community and the Y. It’s about those kids, not us, and the important family time this will encourage.” Thanking the Y, Nutting remarked, “Every year I contribute to the Y because the Y gives it back 10-fold.”

At the conclusion of the dedication ceremony Hockomock Area YMCA President Ed Hurley noted, “I want to add my personal thanks to everyone at Rockland Trust. We’re very proud of the long-standing relationship our YMCA has with a bank that believes in giving back to the community. We are honored and proud to be the recipient of your support and friendship.” Hurley presented Jane Lundquist a rendering of the bronze plaque that will be mounted on granite in the park. The plaque reads “Rockland Trust Family Splash Park made possible through the thoughtful generosity of the Rockland Trust Family Foundation. Thank you for your commitment to supporting kids and families in our community.”

HMEA receives funding from The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation

In its continuing efforts to support local vibrant nonprofit organizations, the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation recently awarded HMEA (Horace Mann Educational Associates) $7,500 to support HMEA’s incredABLE Day 2016 fundraising event occurring on May 22nd at EMC2 , 50 Constitution Blvd in Franklin. 

All proceeds from this one day event go to support the programs and services offered by HMEA’s 750 staff to 4000 children and adults with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. They include the programs offered in HMEA’s children’s services ABA division (applied behavior analysts) for therapists to help diagnose children on the autism spectrum with Early Intervention Assessment Kits. 

The kits include games, puzzles, toys, blocks, and other tools which are designed to assist in evaluating skills and identifying specific educational needs for children who have been newly diagnosed on the autism spectrum.

One assessment tool in the hands of a qualified ABA (Applied Behavior Analyst) Therapist can touch the lives of many children. They help ensure children are properly assessed so they receive early treatment, much to the satisfaction and comfort of the parents waiting desperately for answers to questions about their child’s situation.

Rockland Trust donates $43K to Franklin Food Pantry

Rockland Trust this week announced its continued support of the Franklin Food Pantry with a $43,200 donation to renew the pantry’s rent-free lease for the fifth consecutive year. The food pantry provides between 2,600 and 3,200 pounds of food to area residents each week. In addition to providing the Franklin Food Pantry with rent-free space, Rockland Trust recently concluded a month-long food drive throughout its entire service area in Massachusetts, including its new Metro North communities and Greater Providence. As part of the food drive, which ran throughout April, the bank also donated more than $13,750 to local food banks.

Food Pantry does have handicap access

The Food Pantry does provide handicap access. While it may not look that way from the front

you can go around the side of the building to the back to use the ramp.

What happened to the front railing? The cement along the front entrance was deteriorating and was just replaced. A new wrought iron railing is being ordered and will be installed in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, a wooden railing has been put up. Thanks to Rockland Trust for their contribution that allows the Food Pantry to use this building.

Rockland Trust generosity helps the Franklin Food Pantry

For the third year Rockland Trust has donated the use of its building located at 43 West Central Street in Franklin, Mass. to the Franklin Food Pantry. The two-story building, located adjacent to Rockland Trust’s Main Street branch serves as a valuable resource to the Franklin community and provides between 2,600 and 3,200 pounds of food to area citizens each week.

Accepting the $43,200 donation check, Linda Sottile, Pantry Manager of the Food Pantry stated, “This generous donation from Rockland Trust ensures that we can continue to serve the people of the Franklin area. Local residents need our help now more than ever. The space offers plenty of storage space for food and allows us to provide private meeting space for support services.”

FRANKLIN —

The Franklin Food Pantry, which has been on the verge of homelessness for the past year, has a new home: an entire building owned by Rockland Trust, said Ralph Valente, marketing director for the bank.

On Monday, the pantry's executive director, Linda Pouliot White, and bank officials signed a two-year lease giving the pantry free use of a building at 43 West Central St., across from the new fire station and Rick's Ice Cream.

"They can move in whenever they are ready," Valente said, noting it is slated to open in early June.
