Boston, through August 7, 2022

Shakespeare on the Boston Common -  Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) and Artistic Director Steven Maler are pleased to announce the return of Free Shakespeare on the Common in the summer of 2022 – William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian. Performances will begin on The Boston Common on Wednesday, July 20 at 8PM (with press opening on Wednesday, July 27 at 8PM) and end on Sunday, August 7.

Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s most popular and frequently performed plays. The plot revolves around two couples — witty Beatrice and Benedick, who publicly proclaim their disdain for each other but fall madly in love; and naïve Hero and Claudio, who fall quickly in love only to be thwarted and then reunited (in both cases, with a bit of help from their friends). But it’s more than just a comedic romp. The play tackles serious themes too: trust and betrayal, power and privilege, gendered expectations around chastity and violence. This is a comedy entangled with a tragedy, where love and justice nevertheless manage to prevail with vigorous joy — a perfect play for our uncertain times.

Tom Paxton Concert Cancellation & COVID-19 Update

TOM PAXTON CONCERT CANCELLATION & COVID-19 UPDATE
For the health and safety of our audience, performers and volunteers, the scheduled performance by Tom Paxton and The Don Juans on Friday, March 20 has been cancelled. We and the performers share the concerns that many of you have in this very uncertain time, and we are taking all reasonable precautions to help stem the tide of this virus. We regret having to make this decision, but the health and safety of all of you, our supporters, takes precedence over all other considerations. Ticket refunds will be issued today or tomorrow for all tickets already purchased.

It is likely that Tom Paxton & The Don Juans will be rescheduled for this coming September. We will let everyone know as soon as a decision is made.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic is still unfolding, we can't predict what will happen with other future concerts. We very much appreciate your support of our concert series, and will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any future changes. We wish everyone good health.

EVERLY BROTHERS EXPERIENCE featuring THE ZMED BROTHERS

at OCC Coffeehouse on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2 PM (Note the afternoon time)

This is a reminder that this concert is a little more than a week away. Don't miss it! Get your tickets either online or in the church office.

Since 2016, brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed, along with their partner and drummer Burleigh Drummond, have celebrated the pivotal music and history of The Everly Brothers legacy with enthusiastic crowds all across the US and overseas in prestigious venues.
They say, “The music of the 50's and 60's are nostalgic for us, our parents raised us all on it, and we feel that the Everly's contribution is greatly overlooked, especially by younger generations. Our aim is not to impersonate but to do our best in honoring the aesthetics of their iconic sound and in honoring the important role they played in pioneering the rock n' roll movement, all while having a little fun sharing our own personal story,”
and they do just that. The Zmed Brothers continuously strive to pay homage to their personal roots by always infusing an instinctual blend of entertainment (a la Smothers Brothers) and contextual education in their performance.

The Everly Brothers' career lasted over half a century, they recorded 21 studio albums, sold more than 60 million records world wide, had over 30 billboard top-100 singles, which still to this day is the record for most billboard charting hits of any sibling rock duo ever. They received numerous accolades in their later career, and influenced countless legendary artist that came after them, including
THE ZMED BROTHERS
THE ZMED BROTHERS
The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Bee Gees, Neil Young..and the list goes on.

THE ZMED BROTHERS are absolutely thrilled to be able to contribute to a cause that supports the recognition and preservation of the intimate and singular origins of America's greatest Rock n' Roll singing sibling duo.

Tickets for the concert are $35, available at the church office, 508-384-3110, or at www.musicatocc.org. The event will be in the sanctuary of the church with entry from the side door. Circle of Friends Coffeehouse: Small Potatoes Concert - Feb 8
SMALL POTATOES
with special guest
Mike Laureanno
February 8 - $20
Husband and wife duo Small Potatoes returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin on Saturday, February 8th.  When you see Small Potatoes (Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso) perform, you hear two great voices, some fine guitar playing, and a touch of tin whistle, flute, mandolin, bodhran and other percussion toys. Together they present a truly rare blend of vocal and instrumental abilities, award-winning songwriting and arranging talents. http://smallpotatoesmusic.com/

The Chicago based folk duo say it has taken them years of careful indecision to develop a repertoire they describe as "Celtic to Cowboy." Superb musicianship and showmanship, award-winning songwriting, and a strong sense of tradition has made them, as Dirty Linen Magazine once said, "one of the most polished, inventive, and entertaining shows on the circuit."

Award winning Fall River performer Mike Laureanno will open the show. A passionate performer, Mike's songs are visceral and evocative. He is proud of his roots and many of his songs deal with his gritty blue collar hometown and the lives of his family and friends.  He is a winner of the 2017 Wildflower, TX songwriting contest, the 2016 Woody Guthrie songwriting contest and a 2016 Kerrville New Folk, TX finalist. http://mikelaureanno.weebly.com/
