FHS girls & boys outdoor track teams post wins vs North Attleboro on Tuesday

Girls Tennis = Franklin @ Canton, 3:45 – Tied 2-2, 1st doubles left

Boys Outdoor Track = Franklin, 92.5 @ North Attleboro, 43.5 – Final 
– The Panthers swept three events and took two of the top three spots in nine more events to secure a win on the road at North. Juniors Ethan Thorne and Aidan Thorne tied for first (11.2) and classmate Riley Marshall finished the sweep in the 100M dash, junior Jack Yeulenski took first in the discus (127’11) followed by seniors Jacob Bowser and James Scott, and Aidan Thorne (20’7) won the long jump with Marshall (18’8.5) and Ethan Thorne (18’8.25) rounding out the top three. Senior Jaret Schmidt was a double-winner for the Panthers, crossing first in the 110M hurdles (16.2) and setting a new PR in a win in the 400M hurdles (1:03.2). Franklin also got wins from Theo Yetman (200M, 22.8), Bryce Dragsbaek (400M, PR – 51.7), Tucker Morin (1 Mile, PR – 4:58.4), Bowser (shot put, PR – 43’0), and James Scott (javelin, PR – 159’8). North Attleboro senior Carson Crump took first in two events, leaping to a win in the triple jump (43’9) and the high jump (6’2). The Rocketeers also got a win from senior Connor Peterson (800M, PR – 2:00.4) and freshman Anthony Malakidis (2 Mile, PR – 10:28.9). The teams split the relays with Franklin’s 4×100 (Ethan Thorne, Yetman, Stephon Reed Jr., Dragsbaek) crossing first in 45.2 while North Attleboro’s 4×400 (Crump, Sam Goulart, Peterson, Logan Shriner-McCracken) won in 3:39.8.

Girls Outdoor Track = Franklin, 85 @ North Attleboro, 51 – Final 
– Senior Anna Cliff and junior Ella Chandaria each won a pair of individual events as the Panthers picked up a win over North Attleboro to clinch the Kelley-Rex division title outright following a 5-0 dual meet season. Cliff raced to first in the 400M hurdles (1:10.5), set a new PR with a first place leap of 15’1″ in the long jump, and teamed up with Olivia Costa, Clare Loukota, and Cailyn Bruno to win the 4×100 in 52.4. Chandaria took first in both the 100M (13.2) and the 200M (PR – 26.4), Cailyn Bruno added a win in the 100M hurdles (17.50), and Madison Bruno finished first in the 800M. Franklin also took first in all three throwing events with Lily Deforge (shot put, 38’8), Darby Nicholson (discus, PR – 111’0″), and Liz Hopkins (javelin, PR – 139’6) winning their respective events. Madison Bruno joined up with Kyra McSweeney, Sophia Cuneo, and Meghan Griffith to win the 4×400 relay (4:22.5) for the Panthers. Six different Rocketeers won an event: sophomore Avery Parkinson (400M, PR – 1:02.4), freshman Molly Galgoczy (1 Mile, 5:39.4), junior Katie Galgoczy (2 Mile, PR – 11:24.9), sophomore Riley Buckley and senior Sydney O’Connor tied in the high jump (5’0″), and sophomore Julia Smith (triple jump, PR – 32’8.5″).
