"I do think it’s a dance. It’s poetry. It’s balance. It’s grace. It’s power"

"The throwers at her school had an annual spaghetti dinner, and they said that anybody who tried their discipline could come to the dinner. “Weirdly, food was my incentive,” Allman remembered, and when she went to throw the discus, she had discovered how familiar it felt to dancing.

“I think it’s a second-and-a-half dance that you do hundreds of times and it’s really repetitive, but gosh-darn, I do think it’s a dance. It’s poetry. It’s balance. It’s grace. It’s power,” Allman said, and all of those virtues together are what defined her performance Monday night to give the U.S. track and field team its first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics — and its first gold in women’s discus since 2008."

HockomockSports.com: Player of the Week -> Katelynn Taylor, FHS Track

The Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff

"Franklin senior Katelynn Taylor has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for June 6 through June 12. Taylor is the 26th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2020-21 school year and sixth in the spring season.
Taylor continued her impressive senior season with a record-breaking week. She set new school records in the shot put (twice) and the discuss, closed out the dual meet season with first place finishes in both events, and then won both at this weekend’s Hockomock Championships at Foxboro High, which helped Franklin take the team title.
“Katelynn entered this season determined to win the Hockomock Championship and break the Franklin school records in both the shot put and discus and she accomplished it all,” said Franklin coach Mark Rudolph. “What’s best is that she is a competitor and throws best in the biggest, most competitive meets. Katelynn still has so much potential and she is just scratching the surface of what she can accomplish. I’m so thrilled that Katelynn is going to continue her throwing career at Springfield College”

FHS softball, boys tennis, and wrestling teams all post wins on Thursday

From HockomockSports.com we share the FHS spring sports results:

Baseball = Franklin, 0 @ Mansfield, 2 – Final
– Mansfield scored back-to-back runs in the bottom of the fifth and the duo of Aaron Blinn and James Gilleran combined for a shutout as the Hornets handed Franklin its first loss of the season. Gilleran reached on an error and Liam Anastasia had a bunt single to put two runners on. Junior Colby Geddis followed with a single to bring in courtesy runner Andrew Slaney, and junior Anthony Sacchetti followed with an RBI single of his own to plate Anastasia. Blinn got the start for the Hornets, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Gilleran came on in relief to close it out, giving up just one hit in 3.2 innings of work, striking out four. Franklin starter Jacob Jette had just two unearned runs allowed on four hits and one walk, striking out four in 4.2 innings.

Softball = Mansfield, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
– Franklin scored twice on three hits in the first inning and was able to hold off the Hornets to earn a split of the season series. Mansfield got its lone run in the top of the second. Molly Kucharski, Ashlyn Conley, and Nicole Kobasa had three straight singles and then a fielder’s choice by Abby DeCoste plated the run. Conley, who was 3-for-3 at the plate, was strong in the circle, despite picking up the loss. She allowed only one hit after the first inning.

FHS boys tennis top Sharon 1st time in almost 50 years

From HockomockSports.com and Twitter we share the FHS spring sports results:

Baseball = Sharon, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – Final
– Franklin erased an early one-run deficit, scoring once in each the second and third with two big insurance runs coming in the fourth inning. Ethan Voellmicke tossed 4.1 innings of shutout ball with just two hits allowed, striking out nine to get the win. James Kuczmiec came in to get the save with 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with a pair of strikeouts. Offensively, CJ Jette had a pair of hits including a double, and drove in one run, Marcus Baker slapped a pair of hits, Jake Fitzgibbons drove in a run, and Jack Marino had a hit, a walk, and scored a run.

Softball = Franklin, 13 @ Sharon, 2 – Final
– Franklin found its offense late in the game, pulling away to pick up its fourth win of the season. The Eagles kept it close early, trailing by just four after four full. Sophomore pitcher Ally Foulsham had four strikeouts for Sharon.

Boys Tennis = Franklin, 3 @ Sharon, 2 – Final
– Franklin’s Vayshnav Malhotra emerged from a three-hour marathon match at second singles with a three-set victory to give the Panthers a 3-2 decision over Sharon. Malhotra won the first set in a tiebreaker, dropped the second set, and then prevailed in a back-and-forth third set, the score finishing 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-5. Liam Marr (6-2, 6-2) added a win at first singles while the team of Thomas Broyles and Jay Gorgas (7-5, 6-4) battled to a tight win at second doubles.
Almost 50 years of history.  We still here. The panthers take down the undefeated first seed Sharon, after the drought of the century 3-2. The panthers advance to a 10-0 season. Man of the match to Vayshnav Malhotra winning a thrilling 3 set match in the face of adversity.  https://twitter.com/_fhsboystennis/status/1398066303487840256
