Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club annual Craft Fair - Nov 9

SAVE THE DATE!  - Nov 9

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club annual Craft Fair is coming up. This non-profit fair will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Tri-Country High School in Franklin. 

Hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There is a $3 entry fee - children 12 and under are free. 

In addition to almost 70 artisans, there will be a bake sale table and raffle table. We are collecting non-perishable items for the Franklin Food Pantry - thank you in advance for any donations! All proceeds are donated to local charities and non-profit organizations.

Franklin Newcomers & Friends meeting: Nov 20

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends club welcomes you to attend our November event. We are meeting one week later than our usual 2nd Wednesday of the month. On November 20th, we’re hosting two speakers . . . Town Administrator Jamie Hellen and Franklin School Superintendent Sara Ahern. They’ll be updating us regarding the FY 2021 Budget and other important matters in Franklin. Come with your questions!

No need to RSVP, just join us at 7:30 at “3”! We run our meetings September through May at “3” Restaurant, 461 W. Central Street, Franklin. Heavy appetizers and beverages are complimentary; a cash bar is available.

Residents of Franklin, or any surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers organization, are welcome to join us the 2nd Wednesday of the month (occasionally we switch Wednesdays to accommodate holidays or speakers).

Head's up on the Newcomers and Friends meetings for October/November 2019

On October 9th, Rick Lacroix will introduce us to The Dementia Friends. This global movement’s purpose is to educate people about dementia and ways they could help make a difference in their communities, by making them friendly places for people living with Dementia. By attending this session you become a Dementia Friend!

Annual Craft Fair - Nov 9

Save the Date!!! The Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club is hosting their annual Craft Fair on Saturday, November 9, 2019. 

This long-running Franklin tradition will be held at Tri-County High School, 147 Pond Street, Franklin from 9 AM to 3 PM. We are excited to host over 70 artisans at this juried craft fair. All proceeds are donated to local charitable organizations. 

In addition, there will be a bake sale table and we welcome donations of non-perishable goods that will be brought to the Franklin Food Pantry. 

Vendor applications are still being accepted; they are available on our website at franklinnewcomers.com. We only accept applications for homemade items not commercially manufactured items.

Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club monthly Meeting - March 13

Come join your friends and neighbors at the Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club monthly Meeting. Meet us upstairs at "3" Restaurant on Wednesday, March 13th at 7:30.

Tony DaSilva, Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail Committee member will join us. The FBRTC is a volunteer advocacy group dedicated to the development, maintenance, and financial support of the Southern New England Trunkline Trail. The SNETT is a mixed use recreational trail that runs 23 miles from Franklin to Douglas, MA.

We are NOT just for Newcomers and there is no need to RSVP, just join us and have fun while you make connections in your community. We are a multi-generational club offering a wide range of activities for all ages with an emphasis on fun and camaraderie. Franklin Newcomers & Friends Club: Feb 13 - Alan Earls

Not just for Newcomers . . .

Local historian Alan Earls returns in February to deliver a slide show and talk about the historical background and world events that led up to the day in 1919 when terrorism struck Franklin. February 28 marks the 100th anniversary of one of the most terrible tragedies in town, the attempted bombing of the Ray Textile Mill on Union Street.

Newcomers and Friends Club: Book/White Elephant Swap - Jan 16

Not just for Newcomers . . .

Since it’s the New Year, why not start fresh! The Newcomers are cleaning off our bookshelves and emptying our closets. We’re having a Book and/or White Elephant Swap. Whatever you bring, you’ll bring home something similar. So, if you want to participate, bring a wrapped (brown paper or foil will do!!!) book and/or unwanted Holiday Gift to swap. Books of fiction or cookbooks are suggested.

We’re also doing a collection drive for the Franklin Food Pantry. We’re collecting bars of soap . . . please bring wrapped bars of soap to donate if you’d like to participate.

Franklin Newcomers and Friends 45th annual Craft Fair - Nov 10

Less than a week to go until the Franklin Newcomers and Friends 45th annual Craft Fair

It will be held this Saturday, November 10, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Tri-County High School in Franklin. 

Entry fee is $3, no charge for children ages 12 and under.

In addition to all the great artisans, bake table items and raffle prizes, we'll be collecting donations for the Franklin Food Pantry

Please consider bringing some items on their current needs list:

  • Flour (white, 2 lbs. or larger)
  • Coffee
  • White tuna
  • Stuffing
  • Granola bars
  • Small boxes of cereal
  • Apple filling
  • Soap bars
  • Toothbrushes
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Razors

Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club: November Meeting - Nov 14

Not just for Newcomers . . . the Franklin Newcomers and Friends Club invite you to our November gathering. On Wednesday, November 14 please join us at "3" Restaurant at 7:30 PM. Join us upstairs for complimentary appetizers and beverages.

Our speaker will be Carly Fisher, Chair of the Franklin Agricultural Commission. Carly will update us on the role of the commission and discuss the types of local agriculture and what residents can do to help promote and support them. Carly owns Clarion Farm in Franklin; a riding school, training and breeding facility located on Lincoln Street.

Reminder: New Hampshire Fall Foliage Day Trip - Oct 20

Lifelong Community Learning is offering a day-long fall foliage trip to New Hampshire on Saturday, October 20. The motor coach will leave Franklin High School parking lot at 9:30 AM and return at 6:00 PM. The trip will include commentary and a buffet lunch. The cost is $105 for adults and $65 for a child.

Travel the country roads of New Hampshire for Mother Nature’s annual autumn show! Experience the gently rolling New England countryside, awash with the colors of Indian summer. Travel past quiet ponds, historic farms, weathered roadside taverns, and sturdy colonial churches overlooking quaint village greens.

You’ll also stretch your legs for a picture stop at an old fashioned covered bridge before making your way to the Woodbound Inn for a buffet lunch. Continuing on through some of the loveliest displays of foliage in the world, the last stop of the day will be at a local farm stand for baked treats, apples, and complimentary cider. So come along and don’t forget your camera!

45th Annual Craft Fair - Nov 10

The Franklin Newcomers and Friends 45th Annual Craft Fair is coming up. Come get a start on your Holiday Shopping . . . or find the perfect birthday, anniversary, housewarming, etc ... gift. 

The Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 10 from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Tri-County High School, 147 Pond Street, in Franklin, MA. All proceeds go to local charities. 

In addition to the Artisans we will have a Bake Sale Table, Raffles and we are accepting donations for the Franklin Food Pantry.
