Softball = Franklin, 8 @ Milford, 9 – Final
– Two days after suffering a one-run setback at Franklin, Milford extracted some revenge with a comeback win of their own, plating the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a series split. Both offenses picked up where they left off as the Panthers pushed across four runs in the first (highlighted by two-run singles from both Hailey Fales and Dana Stott) but Milford answered with five runs in the bottom half (highlighted by RBI doubles from both Cae Pellegrini and Ava Baglione). An RBI single from Avery Chalk tied the game and Carly Pellegri drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Panthers back in front, 6-5, in the fourth but Pellegrini drove one to center to bring Olivia Baglione home to make it 6-6. Chalk added another RBI single and Pellegri’s sac fly pushed the lead to 8-6 in the top of the fifth only for the Scarlet Hawks to once again answer in the bottom half; Grace Bonina doubled in a run and then scored on an error in the next at-bat. Maeve Williams’ RBI single in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference, putting Milford ahead 9-8. Maeve Driscoll retired the side in order in the top of the seventh to finish off the complete game.

Baseball = Taunton, 4 @ Franklin, 7 – Final
Ryan Lanigan, founder and Editor-in-Chief of HockomockSports.com, provides the game recap:
"The Hockomock League runs through Franklin — again.

The Panthers clinched their fourth straight Kelley-Rex crown with a 7-4 verdict over rival Taunton, sweeping the season series against the Tigers and staying undefeated at 15-0.

The bottom of Franklin’s lineup spearheaded a six-run second inning and senior right-hander Alfred Mucciarone struck out 10 — his fifth double-digit strikeout performance in six starts — in a complete game effort.

“It’s a balancing act,” said Franklin head coach Zach Brown of dealing with all of the storylines surrounding the matchup with the Tigers, including a second rematch of last year’s Division 1 state championship. “Sometimes when you have all this motivation it can work against you in baseball. We have to trust our leadership and when you have these veterans, who are saying all the right things, it makes it easier.”

Franklin, 16 @ Foxboro, 6 – Final
Josh Perry, Managing Editor of HockomockSports.com, provides the game recap ->
"Just inside the final minute of the first half of Monday afternoon’s division leader showdown at Sam Berns Community Field, Cate Noone picked of an errant clearance to get a free run on goal, cutting the Franklin lead down to just two. As the final seconds ticked off, the Panthers had a chance from close range but Audrey Campbell came up with a big kick save, one of her five stops in the game.

It was just a two-goal lead at the break, as close as any Hockomock team had been to the Panthers at halftime this season.

On the visiting bench, Kristin Igoe Guarino had a frank conversation with her team about how things were going, while the Warriors carried their momentum into the second half and, with 19 minutes to play, Foxboro had the lead down to just one. The home fans were starting to believe that the upset was going to happen.

Franklin found another gear. The Panthers would lose only one draw from that point forward (winning 18-of-23 for the game) and rattled off nine straight goals, turning a close battle into a 16-6 win, extending their long league unbeaten streak by another game and clinching at least a share of their 13th straight league title."

Franklin, 4 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final

Stoughton, 1 @ Franklin, 4 – Final
– Franklin won in straight sets at third singles and first doubles and took two more wins in three sets to secure a win over the visiting Black Knight. Brooke Taylor didn’t lose a game in the first set and went on to win 6-0, 6-4 at third singles, and the sophomore tandem of Brooke Daniels and Sydney Tolonen didn’t drop a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 blanking at first doubles. FHS softball & baseball teams top Attleboro on Saturday

Via HockomockSports.com and Twitter, we share the results of the spring sports competition for Franklin High School on Saturday, April 29, 2023. We also provide the link to the full set of Hockomock League results below.

Baseball = Attleboro, 0 @ Franklin, 13 – Final (5 Inn.)
– Franklin’s Eisig Chin launched a second inning grand slam and the Panthers capitalized on 15 walks in a win over visiting Attleboro. Chin had one of the Panthers’ four hits on the day, scoring Luke Sidwell, Ryan Gerety, and Jase Lyons (two RBI) with his home run to right field. Jake Shaughnessy earned the win on the mound as he allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out four in three innings. Matt Miller and Chin each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Softball = Franklin, 3 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final
– Franklin senior Kiera Kotwicki had a strong outing in the circle and freshman Sophia Sacramone helped the Panthers close out an upset win over Attleboro. Kotwicki allowed only two hits — a second inning single and a leadoff single in the fourth — but didn’t allow a runner to reach third in four innings of work, striking out two. Franklin took advantage of early opportunities to score some runs. Sarah Boozang and Carly Johnson-Pellegri had back-to-back two out singes in the first inning and both scored after an error to make it 2-0. Katy Liberman led off the top of the first with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice from Katie Dowley, stole third, and scored on a passed back to make it 3-0. Attleboro made it a one-run game in the sixth when Rylie Camacho walked and came home to score after a single and error off the bat of Lily Routhier. A RBI single from Paige Quaglia brought Routhier home to make it 3-2. The Bombardiers put the tying run on in the bottom of the seventh with a leadoff walk but Sacramone got back-to-back strikeouts to close it out.

FHS softball, girls lacrosse, and both girls & boys tennis teams post wins on Wednesday

Via HockomockSports.com and Twitter, we share the results of the spring sports competition for Franklin High School on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. We also provide the link to the full set of Hockomock League results below.

Baseball = Canton @ Franklin – Postponed

Softball = Franklin, 19 @ Canton, 1 – Final (5 Inn.)
– Franklin scored 12 times in the second inning to run away with a big win, ending a four-game losing streak and getting back to .500 in league play. Caroline Bruno had a big game for the Panthers, going 5-for-5 and scoring three runs. She also pitched three innings before Sophia Sacramone took over for the final two. Katy Liberman and Dana Stott had four hits apiece, Reece Allen, Avery Chalk, Hailey Fales, Carly Pellegri-Johnson, Ava Florest, and Sarah Boozang all had three hits. Josie Drucker, Marley Allen, and Kiera Kotwicki each had two hits in the win.

Girls Lacrosse = Franklin, 14 @ King Philip, 4 – Final
Josh Perry, Managing Editor of HockomockSports.com provides the game recap:
"Prior to Franklin becoming the dominant power in the Hockomock League, King Philip was the team to beat. The Warriors won six straight titles from 2003-2008 and, after Franklin won in 2010 and 2011, shared the title with Franklin in 2012.

Since that spring 11 years ago, the Panthers have been literally unbeatable. The Panthers have won 12 straight league titles and more than 100 straight league games.

On Wednesday afternoon at Macktaz Field, KP got another shot at ending that streak and pulling level with the Panthers atop the division. If the hosts were hoping to pull the upset, then they needed to have a good start to build confidence, but Franklin, which was playing its third game in as many days, took control from the opening draw and never looked back.

The Panthers scored the first six goals of the game and allowed just one KP goal in the second half to earn the 14-4 win, building a two-game lead on the Warriors in the standings."
