Description: Known for their captivating sound and engaging stage presence, Burning Bridget Cleary is currently one of the hottest young acts on the Celtic and folk music circuits. 

Over the years, they’ve garnered numerous well-earned accolades within the trad community including being nominated for “Top Traditional Group in a Pub, Festival, or Concert” by the Irish Music Association. 

They are regularly played on syndicated radio programs, are a fixture at major folk festivals, did a tour of Ireland in 2013, and perhaps most impressive of all, have put out five full-length albums since their inception. The unique name of the band is from the last woman burned for witchcraft in Ireland at the turn of the 20th century.

36th Annual Cracker-Barrel Fair

"The 36th Annual Cracker-Barrel Fair opens Friday, September 16. The fair will feature music, rides, exhibits and games. 

Friday local bands performing include Stepping Stone and Elastic Five.
Saturday, the bandstand will welcome Southeastern MA Community Concert Band and the Hitmen. 

Sunday, Showcase Dance Production of Wrentham will hold a performance followed by The Reminisants. 

Throughout the weekend there will hayrides pulled by an antique tractor and opportunities to enjoy a variety of food booths. The 4-H club will having various agricultural exhibits. Local artisans will be display their work and magicians, animal shows, jugglers and face painters will provide additional entertainment."

Wrentham Police Launch Statewide Click It or Ticket Enforcement

The Wrentham Police department in partnership with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's (EOPSS) Highway Safety Division (HSD), the State Police and over 120 other local departments, is launching a high-visibility seat belt enforcement mobilization called Click It or Ticket. During the Click It or Ticket mobilization, thousands of extra state and local police will patrol the state's streets and highways in a concerted effort to promote and enforce seat belt use with the ultimate goal of saving lives. Many departments across the state have adopted zero-tolerance policies for seat belt violations signaling the increasing importance of seat belt use. In fact, if pulled over, everyone in the car found not wearing a seat belt will be ticketed.
This Click It or Ticket mobilization runs from May 14th through June 3rd.

Mapping Wrentham

The Wrentham Cultural Council and the Wrentham Historical Commission will sponsor an exhibit "Mapping Wrentham" including maps and historical objects from their collections at Wrentham Day on September 10, 2011. The exhibit, open at the Old Fiske Museum from 9 am to 4pm, will feature a variety of maps (topographical maps, roadmaps, hand-drawn maps, and aerial photos) accompanied by representative artifacts such as postcards, vintage clothing, straw hats, and hand-made quilts, chronicling the history of Wrentham from its incorporation in 1673 to 1990.
One display will feature an 1830 reproduction of a painting of the town center (pictured) whose exact location is not eminently clear to contemporary viewers. Visitors will be invited to contribute their ideas about the painting, specifically the present day location of the figures pictured. Also featured will be a map of the hastily-prepared campsite of Rochambeau, just one of fifty-four camps of the French army used its march from Yorktown to Boston.  Each of the four divisions of the army remained at the site between Lake Archer and Main Street only one night, the first division arriving on December 1, 1782, before marching to Dedham, the last stop before Boston. Incidentally, an officer in the French army, Ludovici Cornette, who married a woman from town, is buried in a plot in the East Street cemetery easily viewed from the window of the Old Fiske.

In addition, visitors may mark the location of their homes on a reproduction of another map on display, thus creating a census of visitorship to the exhibition. The cotton bathing costume (pictured) that may have been worn by a young lady visiting Lake Pearl Park at the turn of the 20th century, will be juxtaposed with a map dated to that period. Other articles of clothing such as a Sheldonville baseball uniform and jersey and straw hats made in Wrentham will also be displayed with appropriately dated maps. A quilt constructed by Mrs. Patricia Shea's practical arts class at the King Philip North Junior High School depicting the town seal, historical structures, and important figures will hang over the newly restored fireplace mantle in the museum. Commission and Council members will be on hand all day with narratives and explanations to enhance the visitor's experience. The public is welcome!

4th Annual Random Smile Gala

The Random Smile Project does good work and is holding their 4th Annual Random Smile Gala on Saturday.

The 4th Annual Random Smile Gala will be held at Christina's in Foxboro at 6:00 pm. The event is a semi formal, black tie optional affair. There will be a surf and turf dinner with live music and both live and silent auctions. A few of the items up for bid include Patriot and Red Sox memorabilia, vacations, golf related items and electronics. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased via the Random Smile web site.
