"Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School recently presented Cory’s Cause to the senior class.
Cory Palazzi, of Taunton, is permanently disabled after suffering a brain injury caused by a heroin overdose which resulted after first becoming addicted to prescription opioids from an athletic injury. Palazzi now struggles to walk and has to use a wheelchair at times. He is legally blind, his speech is slow and he has trouble controlling certain muscles which makes him unable to do simple everyday tasks without help.
The presentation was given to seniors as a part of the Positive Attitudes for Work Success program. PAWS prepares students for commitment to productive citizenship, gainful employment, personal responsibility and the setting of high standards of achievement in both vocational and academic courses. Seniors participate in a monthly seminar to address topics of concern in their transition from high school to college, career and/or military. All students are required to participate in the PAWS Program."

Party for a Cure - March 2

"Why I'm running for Dana Farber:

Sometimes in life, a “Thank You” doesn't seem enough to convey how much you appreciate and treasure what someone has done for you.

In July of 2014, my mom, Jeanne Burchard was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. We chose Dana Farber for her treatment because of their excellent reputation. At the time of her diagnosis we were told that she had 2-2-1/2 years to live. Thanks to the treatment of Dr. Sinclair and the amazing nurses, my mom is still with us, and doing great. Thank you Dr. Sinclair and Dana Farber!

Fast forward to May of 2016. I had noticed that I had numerous enlarged lymph nodes. After many tests, my doctor told me that I had stage 3 Follicular Lymphoma. This was the last thing I was expecting but I had this unwavering feeling that I would be ok. Once again, our family chose Dana Farber.

We knew from our previous experience that Dana Farber treats the whole person ... not just the cancer. During my treatment, my caring nurse, Mary Beth Proulx, would sit with me while I needed to cry or talk about feelings I didn't quite understand. This was my safe place where I could let my defenses down and truly show how scared, confused and angry I was. I wanted to be strong and keep everything as normal as possible for my husband and 2 girls, but sometimes I needed to be vulnerable. Mary Beth helped me do that. My Lymphoma is now in remission and I feel awesome! Thank you Dr. Tahir, Mary Beth and Dana Farber!

This past May, my mother in law, Kathy Luccini, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Dana Farber and Dr. Sinclair, once again, were there for us. As Kathy began treatment, they treated her with respect by answering questions, involving her in treatment options and providing her with top-notch care. Kathy is doing great and back to playing golf! Thank you Dana Farber.

When I run, it's not only for my mom, Kathy and myself, but for all the people who have gone through this journey. This is one small way I can show my appreciation for the care and compassion we received.

On April 16, 2018, hundreds of Dana-Farber runners will take to the streets to participate in the 122nd Boston Marathon®. The DFMC team runs and raises funds with thousands of special people in mind. From Hopkinton to Boston, we carry thoughts of those people every step of the way.

Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. It would mean the world to me if you would consider making a donation."
