Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, December 26, 2025

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 44 @ Lake Region (ME), 30 – Final
– Franklin put together an impressive defensive performance to secure its first win of the season. After struggling in first quarters through the opening four games of the season, Franklin scored 22 points in the first to earn a win over Lake Region. Sophia Sacramone scored five points and hit one of Franklin’s four threes in the first. Lila Reagan, Ava Bonney, and freshman Chloe Gordon also knocked down shots from distance to help the Panthers jump out to a 22-5 lead. Bonney sank a second three in the second quarter, but it was Franklin’s lone basket of the quarter. Franklin held Lake Region to just two points to make sure it went into the break with the lead. Gordon, Tessah Rodrigues, and Liz Dumais each sank threes in the third as the Panthers extended their lead to 38-15 going to the final eight minutes. Lake Region came back in the fourth with three triples and 15 points. Franklin went without a field goal in the fourth, but went 6-of-8 at the line and sealed the victory.

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Monday, December 22, 2025

Boys Basketball = King Philip, 54 @ Franklin, 56 – Final

Franklin TV video available for replay -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9M3T6IpUb7M

Franklin, 49 @ King Philip, 72 – Final
– KP scored 27 points in the first quarter and 23 more in the fourth to run away with a first league win of the season. After struggling to find its offense in the first couple games, the Warriors caught fire early against the Panthers. Erin Berthiaume scored 10 of her 12 points, Tatum Morgan added eight points, and Cheyenne Murray chipped in with five to power the Warriors to a 27-10 lead after one. So far this season, Franklin has looked much better after halftime and that trend continued on Monday, as the Panthers won the third 20-11 to cut the deficit down to 10. Senior Liz Dumais sank a pair of threes and scored 14 of her career-high 19 points in the third to give Franklin a spark. KP answered right back in the fourth, as Morgan scored 10 more (to finish with a season-high 26 points on five three-pointers) and Jessi Persky scored six. The Warriors outscored Franklin 23-10 in the fourth to put the game away. Stierer added 11 points and Persky finished with 10 for KP. Tessah Rodrigues added 10 points and Ava Bonney and Sophia Sacramone each had eight for the Panthers.

FHS gymnastics posts win in opening meet on Friday, boys basketball (video)

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, December 19, 2025

Girls Basketball = Foxboro, 41 @ Franklin – 31 – Final
– Foxboro held the Panthers to just one made field goal in the first half and built a 15-point lead going into the break. Franklin’s offense came alive in the third, outscoring the Warriors 14-4 to get back into the game, but Foxboro scored 18 points in the fourth, including eight from top scorer Adrianna Porazzo (4-for-4 from the line) and seven from Alaysia Drummonds, to seal the win. The first quarter was a struggle for both teams, but Foxboro led 7-0 after one. In the second, freshman Gia Porazzo scored five points (the first points of her varsity career) and Foxboro won the quarter 12-4 to build a double-digit cushion. The Panthers came to life in the third behind a pair of threes and 10 points from Sophia Sacramone, who finished with 11 for the game. Liz Dumais added four points and Franklin trimmed the deficit to just five going to the fourth. Foxboro won a shootout in the fourth, outscoring the Panthers 18-13. Adrianna Porazzo and Drummonds led the way for the visitors, while Tessah Rodrigues scored seven to try and bring Franklin back into it. Porazzo scored a game-high 13 and Drummonds finished with a dozen.

Boys Basketball  = Foxboro, 53 @ Franklin, 48 – Final
– Foxboro took a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way, holding onto a slim lead for the majority of the game before finally closing out the win in the final seconds, marking the Warriors’ first win over the Panthers since 2017. After Franklin senior Jack Sullivan (career-high 21 points) converted a bucket in transition to pull the Panthers within one early in the fourth, Henry Griffin found sophomore Logan Walford down low with a beautiful pass for an easy two, and Timmy Kerzner-Greenwell splashed in a triple on a feed from Cam DeLeskey (9 points) to push the lead to 47-41. Sullivan drained a three for Franklin with 4:38 to go but the Panthers went without points for over two minutes and Colin Trimble (career-high 19 points) had a strong finish at the rim, and Griffin cleaned up an offensive rebound for two more to make it 51-44 with two minutes to go. Franklin didn’t go quietly though as Gio Carlucci stole a pass and laid it in for two with 44 seconds to go, and Kyle Batla snagged a loose ball that led to a layup for Sullivan with 30 seconds to go to make it 51-48. Batla got another steal at midcourt with 15 seconds left but Franklin was off the mark. Foxboro sophomore Bobby Hickox calmly sank a pair of free throws right in front of the student section to ice it with 4.3 seconds left.

Swimming = King Philip @ Franklin, 6:45

Gymnastics = North Attleboro, 117.45 @ Franklin, 129.70 – Final
– Franklin opened the season with a home tri-meet, earning wins over Canton and North Attleboro, posting a team score of 129.70. Senior captains Abby Robillard and Kendra Love anchored the lineup with consistent performances across all four events. Robillard scored an 8.0 on vault, followed with a 7.8 on bars, a 7.6 on beam, and an 8.05 on floor, while Love added an 8.55 on vault, a 7.75 on beam, and an 8.25 on floor. Freshman Alivia Hess made a strong varsity debut, highlighted by a 9.3 on vault and a 9.25 on beam, and Ciara O’Brien, Veronica Pimentel, and Chrissy Beaupre also delivered scoring routines throughout the meet.

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Girls Basketball = Oliver Ames, 54 @ Franklin, 35 – Final
– OA jumped out to a 21-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, rolling to a season-opening win at defending Kelley-Rex champ Franklin. Avery Gamble and Maeve Horsman combined for 13 points in the first, while the OA defense held the Panthers to just two points. Trailing by 24 at halftime, Franklin tried to pull itself back into the game in the third, scoring 20 points. Freshman Brielle Nicholls scored eight and sophomore Tessah Rodrigues added seven, as the Panthers sliced the deficit in half. OA clamped down again on defense, holding Franklin to just three points in the fourth, to seal the victory. Gamble hit three from beyond the arc and had a game-high 23 points. Horsman chipped in with 13 and freshman Ashlyn Hrenko scored six in her varsity debut. Nicholls led the Panthers for the second game in a row, finishing with 14 points. Rodrigues added a dozen.

"THANK YOU, Franklin & Oliver Ames! 💙🏀

We are incredibly grateful to the Franklin community and both the Franklin Panthers and Oliver Ames Tigers basketball programs for your overwhelming generosity and support. Because of you, the donations collected for The Santa Foundation will make a meaningful difference for families this season.

Community Night showed exactly what makes high school sports special—coming together beyond the game to give back. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and helped make this night such a success. Your kindness truly embodies the spirit of teamwork and community. Boys Basketball = Franklin, 39 @ Oliver Ames, 54 – Final
"For most of the past two seasons, taking a three wasn’t high on Jacob Lok’s list of offensive options.

The senior point guard has built his reputation as a pass-first floor general, but with Oliver Ames needing new scoring options after heavy graduation losses, Lok committed to expanding his game — and it paid off Tuesday night.

Lok hit four triples in the third quarter and scored 15 of his career-high 18 points in the frame, powering Oliver Ames to a 54-39 win over Franklin, snapping the Panthers’ 39-game Hock win streak that dated back to January of 2023. It also marked OA’s first win over Franklin since 2014."

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, December 12, 2025

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 33 vs. Wachusett, 66 – Final
– Franklin had a tough task on day one of the season, facing the defending state champs. Wachusett looked like it was in midseason form, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and 44 by halftime. Franklin had only 11 at the break but had double that total in the second half. Freshman Brielle Nicholls led the way for the Panthers with eight points, including a pair of threes in the third quarter. Liz Dumais added seven and Tessah Rodrigues scored five.

Boys Swimming = Franklin, 62 @ Attleboro, 87 – Final
– Attleboro boys opened the meet with a win over Franklin, using depth to control the scoring throughout. While Franklin won seven of the 11 events, Attleboro filled nearly every lane and piled up points in the middle places. Sophomore Kris Kotnisz led the Bombardiers with wins in the 100 butterfly (58.86) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.05), qualifying for sectionals in both events. Captain Seal Mukasa finished second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, junior Ayden Gietz placed second in the 500 freestyle, and freshman Murtaza Husain added a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley. Franklin was led by Zack Pecora, who won the 200 IM and the 500 free, and Ollie McCarthy, who swept the sprint events with victories in the 50 free and the 100 free. The Panthers also captured the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay behind Arsh Tyagi, Amir Shakirov, Pecora, and McCarthy. Tyagi added a win in the 100 backstroke for Franklin.

Girls Swimming = Franklin, 93 @ Attleboro, 68 – Final
– Franklin girls earned a 93-68 win over Attleboro, pulling away with key individual and relay performances. Ava Pecora led the Panthers with victories in the 200 IM and the 500 free, while Elyse Ferreira won both the 200 free and the 100 free. Franklin opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay and later took first in the 200 free relay behind Aleksandra Baghadasaryan, Molly McKinnon, Ferreira, and Pecora. The Panthers also added a win in the 100 backstroke from Baghadasaryan to help seal the victory. Attleboro was led by junior Samantha Provost, who won the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly while posting state qualifying times in both events. Senior Ava Dougherty added a first-place finish and state cut in the 100 breaststroke and placed second in the 200 individual medley. Provost and Dougherty teamed with Abby Emond and Allison Tower to place second in the 200 medley relay with a sectional qualifying time and finish second in the 200 freestyle relay. HockomockSports.com: "Franklin Names Masto As New Boys Basketball Coach"

By Ryan Lanigan || HockomockSports.com Editor

"Mike Masto is returning to the bench where his high school coaching career started.

The 37-year-old has been hired as the new Franklin boys basketball coach, replacing CJ Neely who stepped down last month after a decade at the helm that culminated in the program’s first ever state championship in March.

Masto has been a physical education teacher in the Franklin Public Schools for nearly 20 years, and spent three years as the program’s freshman coach under Dean O’Connor, and then three years as the JV coach under Neely.

Masto As New Boys Basketball Coach"
“Obviously I’m really excited for the opportunity,” Masto told HockomockSports.com. “It’s an incredible opportunity to build on the relationships I already have with the kids I teach and to be part of such a strong program. It just felt like the right fit for me and my family. Leaving Natick wasn’t easy — I loved the players and people there, and it was definitely a tough decision.

“I’ve been really fortunate to work under two amazing head coaches, and I want to carry on that tradition. I’m looking forward to continuing what’s been built here.”

FHS' CJ Neely Steps Down After 11 Seasons

"Franklin boys basketball head coach CJ Neely is stepping down after 11 years at the helm of the Panthers, he confirmed to HockomockSports.com. He guided the Panthers to the program’s first state championship this past March.

Neely met with his players and school administrators on Friday afternoon to announce his decision.

“My kids are getting older, and I want to be a part of this time in their lives,” Neely said. “Basketball was conflicting with being there for them, being a coach for them, and just being a dad. I want to be around more while they’re still young. I think about how fast they’re growing up, and I want to maximize the time I have with them. I didn’t want to shortchange Franklin by being pulled in different directions.”

In his time at Franklin, the Panthers won four Kelley-Rex titles, reached four Division 1 state finals, and capped a 25-1 season this past year with a 55-52 win over Newton North in the championship game. He is a three-time HockomockSports Coach of the Year, earning the honors in 2022, 2024, and 2025."

Franklin High School Boys Basketball and Cheer Teams Honored at State House for Championship Victories

Franklin High School Boys Basketball and Cheer Teams Honored at State House for Championship Victories
FHS Boys Basketball and Cheer Teams
Superintendent Lucas Giguere and Athletic Director Karrah Ellis are proud to share that the Franklin High School cheerleading and boys basketball teams were both recognized for their championship victories during an honorary visit to the State House on Wednesday, April 30.

The two teams were guests of state Rep. Jeffrey N. Roy, of Franklin, and state Sen. Rebecca L. Rausch, of Needham.

Both teams won their respective Division 1 state championships for the winter 2025 season.

The basketball team was recognized for their Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division 1 Boys' Basketball State Championship, while the cheer team was recognized for their Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association (MSAA) Division 1 State Championship.

For the Franklin High School cheerleading team, it was the fifth state championship in a row and the second state championship won this school year, after the cheerleaders also won the state championship for the fall season. The cheerleading team’s graduating seniors finished their high school careers having won seven out of their last eight state championship competitions.

In addition to the MSAA Division 1 Championship, the Franklin High cheerleading team earned the title of Hockomock League Champions this season and won its Regional Championship.

The cheerleading team also won the title of 2025 Grand Champions at the Americheer International Competition, coming in first place for their category and scoring the highest score of the competition.

The basketball team went 27-1 overall this season. The team then went 5-0 in the state tournament, beating Shrewsbury, North Andover, Bridgewater Raynham, and Central Catholic, before winning the MIAA Division 1 championship final, defeating Newton North 55-52.

For Franklin High Basketball, this marked a back-to-back state finals appearance. This was only the second time that this happened in team history, following the team’s success in 2017 and 2018.

And for the second year in a row, the Franklin High boys basketball team went undefeated in its 16 games of league play, resulting in the team being ranked No. 1 overall heading into the state tournament. The Franklin High boys basketball team was the first team in the league to accomplish this feat in 50 years.

The Franklin High School Cheerleading roster included seniors Keira Owens (captain), Ceci Pineda (captain), Lea Exposito (captain), Emma Rondeau (captain), Kat Rosenberg, and Taylor Briggs; juniors Cassidy Stanley, Aeriel Orrell, Emily Bartlett, Lilah Wainwright; and sophomores Ashley Rickey and Aria Nicholson. The cheerleading team was led by Coach Doni Gill, and the team received direction from choreographer Eric Bichao.

The championship Franklin boys basketball team roster included seniors Caden Sullivan (captain), Seth O’Donnell (captain), Joseph Conlan, Wyatt Herndon, Zach Allen, Flynn Baker, Andrew Geer, Jake Olmstead and Colin O’Leary; juniors Jack Sullivan, Justice Samuels, James Crowley; sophomore Nas Johnson; and freshman Danny Santos. The Franklin basketball team was led by Head Coach CJ Neely, and the coaching staff also included Mike Doherty, Ryan Perron, Chuck Allen, Tim Rodgers, Connor Moroney, Matt Coooper and Rob Mosher.

Superintendent Lucas Giguere and Athletic Director Karrah Ellis both congratulated the teams for the State House recognition, capping off an extraordinary year of success on the basketball court and the cheerleading mat.

"The State House trip was a fitting way to celebrate these two teams and recognize them for their tremendous success this school year," said Director Ellis. "I’m so proud of these hard-working, dedicated athletes. This was truly an incredible year for our Franklin High School boys basketball and cheerleading teams."

"Congratulations once again to our state champion Franklin High School boys basketball and cheerleading teams," said Superintendent Giguere. "This was a remarkable year for both of them. We are very proud of all of their success. I'd like to thank state Rep. Roy and state Sen Rausch for facilitating this special day of recognition for our championship-winning student athletes."

Boston Globe’s All-Scholastics for Winter 2024-25 recognize Sullivan, Woodall, & CJ Neeley

"The sounds of winter athletics are timeless, from the thump of a bouncing basketball in a quiet gym, the slice of a skate across ice, the thwack of skin against mat, the whoosh of waxed skis, to the splash of swimmers coming off the blocks.

While the soundtrack is ageless, there’s a new crop of high school athletes filling those gyms, rinks, tracks, pools, and slopes every season. So after crowning 31 state championship teams, it’s time to recognize the top individual athletes with the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastics for Winter 2024-25.

Chosen by a panel of Boston Globe beat writers and editors — with the exception of the prep choices — the 250 All-Scholastics, 39 athletes of the year, and 38 coaches of the year are selected using a combination of statistics, awards, notes, recommendations, and observation. Student-athletes from schools in Eastern Mass. leagues are eligible."
