Antje Duvekot at Circle of Friend Coffeehouse - May 12
ANTJE DUVEKOT
with The Starlight Honeys
May 12th 8PM $20
Antje Duvekot appears at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin on Saturday, May 12 at 8 PM. Antje has been taking the musical world by storm, winning the Kerrville New Folk Competition's Best New Folk Award, the Boston Music Award for Outstanding Folk Act, and the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Blending uncommonly beautiful vocals with one of the sharpest poetic sensibilities in her field, Duvekot has a remarkable ability to make us believe she is whispering secrets in our ear, and we know that she believes every word she sings. http://www.antjeduvekot.com/

"Toward the Thunder", Antje's fourth studio album was recently released. The new album centers around themes of courage, resilience and striving for something better. It features an impressive cast of folk royalty including Shawn Mullins, Anais Mitchell, Liz Longley, John Gorka, Martyn Joseph, Kris Delmhorst and Richard Shindell. In addition to nine new Duvekot originals and the traditional tune "the Parting Glass" the album includes a Dar Williams cover "The Light and the Sea". The song is about resilience and the fact that there is always a light that one can turn to, even in times of storm and upheaval. Like most of Duvekot's writing, a sense of hope and perseverance shines through the songs.

Singer songwriter Ellis Paul says "Antje is the rare artist that can write about the social and the personal in the same breath. She is as understated as she is wise and her songs go down mentally as well as soulfully. Her voice has a sound of innocence and naivety which makes razor sharp insights into the human condition."  http://www.antjeduvekot.com/
The Starlight Honeys
The Starlight Honeys
The Starlight Honeys will open the show.  Three-part vocal harmonies define the unique sound that is the Honeys' blend of old-time and new folk tunes.  Guitar, mandola, banjo, mandolin, percussion, and whistles allow for the diverse mix of music that Roger, Sam, and Katie all love to sing.  Stitch all that together with tight, intricate harmony, and the Starlight Honeys have  a distinct sound bound to leave you buzzing!  https://starlighthoneys.wordpress.com/
