FHS All Night Party - 2015 (video)

You'll recall I was able to capture some photos of the All Night Party at Horace Mann Middle School as it was set up and before the high school graduates arrived. Those photos were combined with others taken during the event by the All Night Party Committee to produce this cool video.

Curl up with a refreshing drink of your choice and enjoy this collaboration.

The FHS Seniors did have a great and safe graduation party!

FHS 2015 - All Night Party - Video Walk

I shared photos Saturday of the All Night Party and on Facebook here

Harry Potter's room recreated for the All Night Party
Harry Potter's room recreated for the All Night Party

I can share a video of the walk through the hallways to capture the look and feel of the transformation. Roberta Trahan, Vice Chair of the School Committee, says it well:
I was absolutely amazed at what was accomplished at HMMS, the quality of the decorations, the unique way they incorporated the outdoor area, the spaciousness of the site. When I think back to the early discussions when the ANP team was told that the new FHS would not be used for at least this year I honestly wasn’t sure how ANP 2015 would play out.
I have to give kudos to the ANP decorators/organizers and all who worked to make this one of the best I have seen; for their ability to see this new space, work with it and embrace the change that was brought to them.
Also, to the staff at OAK/Mann complex, especially Sean Fortin and Corrine Minkle as I am told they were welcoming, cooperative and bent over backwards to help. 26 years and going strong!
Enjoy the video walk through!

Note: yes, I do slip at the end of the video and call this the Horace Man High School, it is the Horace Mann Middle School set up for the Franklin High School All Night Party. I also call Hagrid 'Hagar', I have no idea where that came from. I know he is Hagrid.

FHS - All Night Party - 2015

Being able to deal with change was a common thread on Friday. Madison Wendell, FHS Class of 2015 Valedictorian, talked of choosing to embrace change. Principal Peter Light in his remarks to the graduates also talked of change. One of the items also in much discussion during the preparation for this years graduation was the location of the All Night Party.

Given the chance to take photos of the transformation of Horace Mann Middle School to the setting of the All Night Party, I gladly accepted. Hopefully the photos here will do justice to the creation of a magnificent space for a party.

Thanks to the many volunteers who helped to make the All Night Party a success. (Note, I assume it was a success. The space was transformed magically but I'll admit to leaving before the party started!)

This is a few of the photos. The full set can be found in the Flickr Album here

All Night Party to be held at Horace Mann Middle School

Pantherbook has an update on the All Night Party Location:
The Class of 2015 will not only be the first graduating class at the new FHS, but they will also be the first class to have their All Night Party at Horace Mann Middle School.
According to FHS Principal, Mr. Light, the decision of making Horace Mann the home of the All Night Party was due to the fact that the middle school will meet all the needs of the event.
At a meeting with the All Night Party committee, Light discussed everything that made the All Night Party so memorable for the students. The excitement of graduation, the theme, and the decorations were all brought up. Light said that if the All Night Party were held in FHS, the decorations would be so different that it could change everything that made the All Night Party what is has become. Light states that at Horace Mann they “could keep that character of the All Night Party.”

All Night Party - A labor of love

While the senior class and their families were participating in the graduation ceremony in the Franklin Field House, hundreds of volunteers were busy transforming the high school corridor to another world.

What can you do with a high school corridor? It is wide, concrete, has a tiled floor and not very exciting to look at. Well you'd be surprised by what can be done with a little creativity, lots of volunteers and have it all abide by the fire code for safety.

You see safety is one of the prime motivators behind the All Night Party anyway. What would high school seniors do on graduation night but go and party! With offsite parties, there would likely be alcoholic beverages. With such beverages, there would be an inevitable tragedy.

The All Night Party avoids all that. It magically transforms the high school corridor to a fun place for a party without alcoholic beverages and volunteer adult chaperones. The graduates can have a good time and their parents and families can rest assured for one night.

I was fortunate to be able to get behind the scenes and take these photos as the corridor was transformed. There was still work to be done after the graduation ceremony finished in the field house. There would be other exercise activities set up.

So let's walk along the corridor as it is being transformed...

The horse figure first made its appearance at the All Night Party in 2004. My oldest daughter graduated that year. I wonder if she'll remember. The word has it that is has been more of a chameleon over the year than a horse, also showing up as a mule and a dinosaur at different times as well as changing color.

FHS All Night Party - June 6th

The All Night Party Committee would like to welcome parents of new and returning students to a new school year at Franklin High School. Whether your son or daughter is a Freshman, Sophomore or Junior the All Night Party committee needs you now. Your involvement contributes to the support of the present senior class and guarantees the continuation of this tradition for your future seniors.
This tradition was started in 1990 and is a gift to all seniors in celebration of their high school year. The graduates enjoy a fun-filled night that includes games, prizes and best of all the transformation of the high school into a magical place.
It takes the hard work of 400-500 volunteers and the support of the school community and business partnerships to make this event a success.
The party takes place at the high school on graduation night from 11 pm to 5 am. This year’s All Night Party will be on Friday, June 6th.

Please visit the Volunteer Opportunities page to learn more and then go to the sign up to volunteer page to sign up now. Some with commitments as little as 2 hours.   http://www.fhsallnightparty.com/
