More folks interested in virtual session on Redistricting Analysis; get their questions answered on Monday, Mar 13

More folks participated in the Redistricting Analysis Forum, the second and last one held to share the three options, answer questions and ask for feedback via the survey form. While less than 20 participated in person at the first forum held a week ago, over 70 participated on Monday, March 13.

Unfortunately a few internet trolls attempt to disrupt the session and were being removed as quickly as they identified themselves. Fortunately, it did not interrupt the Q&A session and all who wanted had time to ask a question, or make a comment, some of them with more than one chance to do so.

The presentation document used will be posted to the Redistricting page (at some point). All the prior presentation documents are there ->   https://www.franklinps.net/district/redistricting-analysis

The survey is open until March 15, yes that is Wednesday, March 15

Town of Franklin: The 2023 OSRP Survey is Now Open for your input!

Good Morning Neighbors,

It's the moment we've all been waiting for - the 2023 OSRP survey is now LIVE!

We welcome your participation in this survey to help the Town draft an OSRP inclusive of your priorities for our Open Space and Recreation areas. Can't remember what the OSRP is or why it's important? No problem! In its basic form, the OSRP is a "plan for plans"; it is a guiding path and checklist the Town can utilize to improve Open Space and Recreation areas and receive funding through grants from various organizations. The last OSRP was finalized in 2016 and can be read here. To learn more about the 2023 OSRP process, feel free to watch this brief video

By participating in this survey, you are helping the Town prioritize Open Space and Recreation projects reflective of what you think is most important for your home. The survey is available digitally and physically between February 13 and April 16 at various location around Town, and at the first and second OSRP public hearings. You can also access the survey by visiting the QR code below or by visiting https://forms.gle/a8YoZpXbg5jbGYVD7. Hardcopy surveys are available upon request to bgoodlander@franklinma.gov.

To further follow the OSRP process, please subscribe to Conservation News Alerts by visiting https://www.franklinma.gov/subscribe and selecting "Conservation" under "News or Announcement". We can't wait to see your responses and we thank you for helping recreate the future vision of Franklin!

Polling strategy study by New York Times: "partisan polls tend to be more inaccurate"

"Not for the first time, a warped understanding of the contours of a national election had come to dominate the views of political operatives, donors, journalists and, in some cases, the candidates themselves.

The misleading polls of 2022 did not just needlessly spook some worried candidates into spending more money than they may have needed to on their own races. They also led some candidates — in both parties — who had a fighting chance of winning to lose out on money that could have made it possible for them to do so, as those controlling the purse strings believed polls that inaccurately indicated they had no chance at all.

In the election’s immediate aftermath, the polling failures appeared to be in keeping with misfires in 2016 and 2020, when the strength of Donald J. Trump’s support was widely underestimated, and with the continuing struggles of an industry that arose with the corded home telephone to adapt to the mass migration to cellphones and text messaging. Indeed, some of the same Republican-leaning pollsters who erred in 2022 had built credibility with their contrarian, but accurate, polling triumphs in recent elections.

But a New York Times review of the forces driving the narrative of a coming red wave, and of that narrative’s impact, found new factors at play."

What is on your "watch list" of Franklin topics for 2023? (survey)

The Storm water fee will start in July 2023 and before time that we should get an update from the Town of Franklin on what permeable pavers will be permitted to allow homeowners to reduce their impermeable pavement and reduce their storm water footprint.

The "watch list" of Franklin topics will get updated for 2023 as we close out calendar year 2022. Storm water has been on the list for a couple of years.
  • Will storm water remain on the watch list?
  • What else should be on the watch list?
