The Tri-County food truck is here! The food truck is here!

The TCRVTHS Food Truck has arrived on campus and we are getting closer to it being fully operational.
Let's take a look at both the interior and exterior of the truck which will be used by our students in Culinary Arts.

Recall that in March, the grant award to Tri-County for the food truck was announced -> https://www.franklinmatters.org/2023/03/tri-county-gets-grant-for-food-truck.html

Tri-County Election Results - School approved by 5364 to 3229 vote

The Tri-County election results are in via the local Franklin totals from our Town Clerk Nancy Danello, and for the overall results from Peter Wiernicki, one of the Franklin members of the Tri-County School Committee.

3 of the 11 communities voted against the new school but not by enough that the other 8 weren't able to cover.

Only 6.4% of the total registered voters across the 11 communities turned out. Franklin had the largest vote total but not the largest percent turnout.

Friendly Reminder to cast your vote on the Tri-County election today (10/24/23 from noon to 8 PM) at Franklin High School

Why is there a vote for Tri-County today?
The Tri-County Regional VTHS is looking to replace their old and falling apart building with a new one. Today's vote is for the 11 Tri-County communities to say "Yes" or "No" to the project.

The vote for all 11 communities occurs at the same time on Tuesday, October 24, from noon to 8 PM. Franklin votes at Franklin High School.

The one question ballot simply asks yes or no to authorize building the new school.
How will it be paid for?
Each of the 11 communities will make that determination separately. Franklin has chosen to use a debt exclusion to fund the Franklin portion of the replacement cost.

One question will be on the Nov 7 ballot to authorize Franklin's funding for the project with a debt exclusion (estimated to be $2.1 for 30 years).
Additional information on the Tri-County project can be found in one place ->   https://www.franklinmatters.org/2023/10/tri-county-election-information-for.html

Sun Chronicle: "'It is falling apart': Supporters say new Tri-County building project sorely needed, vote scheduled for Oct. 24"

"Holes in walls. Leaky plumbing. Aging systems. Outdated educational facilities.

These are just a few of the issues supporters say plague the nearly 50-year-old Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School, a facility tasked with training students in modern, high-tech vocational education.

Not only is the school district’s original building outdated for educational purposes, the facility and its systems are well beyond their life expectancy and need $165 million-plus in repairs, school officials say.

Voters in the 11 school district communities, including North Attleboro, Plainville, Wrentham, Norfolk, Seekonk and Franklin, will vote on a planned new $286 million school at a special election Oct. 24."

The Franklin TV recording of the information session held Tuesday, Oct 3 at the Franklin Public Library is available.

Tri-County School Committee members Peter Wiernicki and Jen D’Angelo presented, assisted by a Facilities Representative.

  • The current school is 'broken', per the MSBA process the building did evaluate options to renovate, renovate & create an addition, or rebuild. The rebuild option was selected as the most viable

  • The cost today is shown as 284M, MSBA will reimburse 29%

  • Oct 24, 2023 is scheduled date for approval of the Tri-County school replacement project approval by the 11 community members of the Tri-County district

  • The October 24 vote will be conducted across the 11 communities at the same time, from 12 PM to 8 PM. The vote will be counted in aggregate and a 50% +1 is required for passage

  • The 11 individual communities can make their own decision on how to fund the expense of the new building. Franklin has chosen to do a debt exclusion to raise the money separately from the operating budget. That vote is schedule for the Nov 7, 2023 election ballot
